HONOLULU (KHON2) — Oʻahu's North Shore is place that many around the world dream of having as their own place to live.
Well, now you can. Kelly Slater, one of surfing's most famous athletes, is selling his North Shore home for $16.5 million.
Here's what we know:
As you step through the front door, you're immediately struck by the impressive, towering wooden staircase that gracefully sweeps upwards. Its craftsmanship sets the tone for the rest of the home. The staircase isn't just functional; it's a showpiece that embodies the elegance and grandeur of the home.
The home is so incredibly close to the beach and the Pacific Ocean that it takes seconds to have your toes in the sand and the waves crashing at your feet. It's an idyllic location that offers easy access to the serenity of the coastline whenever you desire.
The home continues to impress with its soaring high vaulted ceilings that give the space an open, airy feeling. The wooden beams, much like the grand staircase, add an elegantly rustic charm that complements the home's aesthetic. From below, the grand staircase appears even more dramatic and beautifully framed by these expansive ceilings that creates a sense of awe as you look up.Almost every window in the house offers a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. Wherever you are in the home, you're never far from the calming sight of the beach. Sunsets paint the sky in warm hues, while mornings greet you with the fresh ocean breeze and the soft sound of waves. The panoramic views are simply unparalleled as you experience nature's beauty at every turn.
Strategically placed throughout the home, the ceiling fans work to enhance the natural ocean breezes that flow through the open spaces. These fans not only provide comfort but also help maintain an eco-friendly atmosphere by reducing the need for air conditioning. They gently circulate the refreshing ocean air and keep the interior cool and pleasant year-round.
The floors throughout the home are finished in rich, golden-brown Koa wood. It's a prized Hawaiian hardwood known for its beauty and durability. The intricate grain patterns of the Koa wood add warmth and character to each room and create a sense of connection with the island's natural beauty. The flooring serves as a stunning backdrop to the luxurious yet comfortable atmosphere of the home.
With its $16.5 million price tag, this property is not just a home. It's an expansive compound that offers both luxury and privacy. It provides everything you need for relaxation, entertainment and privacy. The layout and size make it perfect for hosting large gatherings or simply enjoying solitude in a serene, private environment.
The property includes multiple buildings, each serving a unique purpose. Whether it's a guest house, a poolside cabana or a dedicated space for recreation and entertainment, these buildings offer versatility and luxury.
At the heart of the property lies a stunning private swimming pool that's surrounded by lush landscaping. The pool offers a perfect retreat, where you can take a dip while enjoying the privacy of your expansive grounds. Whether it's a lazy afternoon or an evening swim under the stars, the pool provides a luxurious space for relaxation.
The landscaping is meticulously designed with an array of indigenous plants to create a natural garden that complements the home's aesthetic. The landscape showcases the North Shore's vibrant natural beauty and provides color, texture and shade throughout the year. It's a garden that feels integrated into the surrounding environment that adds to the home's sense of place.
