Lorraine Kelly speaks to viral Scottish 'milker' ahead of her return to TV

Daily Mirror19-05-2025

The TV presenter has been off screens since undergoing surgery earlier this month, but before that she took part in what might be her strangest interview yet
TV legend Lorraine Kelly has taken on perhaps her most bizarre role to date as she prepares to return to our screens after undergoing surgery – all aboard a vivid orange 'milk float'. Expected to be back delighting viewers from next week, the beloved presenter connected with none other than Angus McLean, famously known as the 'Nessie Milker', who has recently launched a mission to bring his unique 'Nessie Nectar' across the UK in his milk-float.
McLean recently found viral fame after sharing insider glimpses of his 'Nessie Nectar' venture at Loch Ness, where he concocts an unusual new twist on Scotland's favourite soft drink, IRN-BRU.

Now, McLean is setting off from the iconic Scottish loch to share his limited-edition Nessie Nectar flavour, IRN-BRU XTRA, with enthusiasts around the country.
Lorraine couldn't hide her excitement over the one-of-a-kind interview, commenting: "Oh, what a treat it was to meet Angus as he sets off on his big UK tour."
She went on to say: "Hearing all about his time working with one of Scotland's most famous legends was just magical."
The TV star urged fans to watch out for the remarkable Nessie-themed float as it journeyed through the UK and reminded them to arrange their special deliveries while Angus is travelling.
Kelly, 65, recently underwent survey surgery on May but has assured her Instagram followers that her recovery was progressing well.

Earlier in the week, she shared an intimate update from her bed, stating that spending time with her granddaughter Billie was 'the best medicine ever'.
Before her operation, Lorraine even managed a hop onto the mythical creature-inspired float, loaded with eye-catching cans of the exclusive beverage and whimsically adorned with Nessie's signature humps and tail.
The new Legend Editions 330ml cans also include a Unicorn Tears flavour, with tears supposedly farmed from Unicorns themselves.

IRN-BRU was originally launched to an original secret recipe in 1901 in Scotland, and has been a national favourite ever since.
Kenny Nicholson, head of brand at IRN-BRU, said: 'McLean & Sons have been tugging on Nessie's teat for centuries so it's finally time to share her juicy nectar with the rest of the UK.
'Who better than Lorraine Kelly to help kick off the tour?'
To be in with a chance of catching a glimpse of the float and tasting Nessie's Nectar, fans simply need to send a text to McLean & Son's hotline on 07955 583726.

Lorraine Kelly left squirming as co-star bluntly asks her 'where have you been?' after MORE time off show

Lorraine Kelly was left squirming as a co-star bluntly asked her 'where have you been?' on Monday's episode of the programme after MORE time off from the show. Right after explaining to viewers what they could expect from today's (9 June 2025) instalment, the 65-year-old introduced her celebrity correspondent for LA Ross King to the show, live from America. Lorraine said: 'Ross is in Los Angeles for us later Ross. Crickey! It's tough times over there...' Ross explained that he would be touching upon the current riots in LA, as well as the relationship between Elon Musk and Donald Trump. Referencing her latest bout of absence, he quipped: 'Apart from all that, what about you, where have you been?!' Lorraine replied: 'Oh I've been in the far north, I've been so far north I nearly came back on myself. 'In a few weeks, I might be able to give you more hints. 'I can even show you some photos, it was life changing and amazing. 'I'll phone you later and tell you all about it.' It comes after earlier this month Lorraine disappeared from our screens again after ditching her show amid huge cuts. The star took to Instagram on Sunday to share her exciting new project that she will be working on this week - meaning that she wouldn't be presenting her daily self-named programme. Lorraine said: 'Hi there! I'm in the land of the midnight sun. It's absolutely glorious. 'It's a project that I have wanted to do for years and years and finally it is actually happening. 'I'm heading really, really far north. 'It is going to be amazing and I will tell you all about it when I am back. 'I'm back a week tomorrow (Monday) and I will see you then. 'Wish me luck.' She captioned the post: 'BIG FILMING ADVENTURES!!!! 'Heading to the very far north - it's going to be amazing - see you in a week's time! #happy #arctic #filming #adventures #exploration #joy.' Over the past year Lorraine has hit headlines after disappearing from our screens a number of times. And so much so that TWO X accounts have been made about her when she is missing from the programme. Christine Lampard, 46, and Ranvir Singh, 47, step in when she cannot present the show. Last month it was revealed that Loose Women and Lorraine have been AXED for half the year - as ITV announce a big shake up to its daytime schedule. Just last week she revealed that she's 'not done yet' as she appeared to hit back at rumours her show will be cut for good. Speaking on the Tom Kerridge on the Proper Tasty podcast: '40 years in TV last year was incredible. I got a BAFTA. "Here's a BAFTA for being alive." I thought, "Hang on a minute, I'm not done yet".'

Alan Cumming launches summer talks with 'beers and baps' in Highlands

Nestled in his home county of Perthshire, Cumming's new lecture series, A Beer, A Bap and A Boffin, will be held at Pitlochry Festival Theatre. Cumming was elected as artistic director of the theatre in 2024. The series aims to spotlight leading experts from the Royal Society of Edinburgh, which Cumming is a member of himself. On Saturday, June 14, the series opens with James Robertson's talk, What's next for Libraries, Literature, and Creativity?, which will explore the state of culture and literature in the library sector, shedding light on the future of our libraries as AI becomes increasingly commonplace. READ MORE: Crew for Christopher Nolan's film starring Matt Damon take over Scottish castle David Field FRSE, CEO of the Royal Zoological Society Scotland, continues the series on Saturday, August 2, with a talk on how to train your wildcat. Field's lecture seeks to uncover the techniques that specialists use to prepare zoo-bred wildcats for release, whilst also discussing the possibility of bringing back Scotland's lost species. On Saturday, August 23, Professor Niahm Nic Daeid FRSE closes the talks with her lecture titled "what is forensic science and why does it matter?" and discuss the crucial use of science in criminal investigation and trial. Cumming said one of the "many surprises" at the theatre is the "explorers garden," adding: "I want to find as many reasons as possible for it to be enjoyed. That's why I thought of A Beer, A Bap and A Boffin! "As a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, I have watched many academics mesmerise with their knowledge and rediscovered how fascinating it can be to learn about topics you'd otherwise never encounter. So, I invited some of these Boffins to do lectures in our Explorers Garden amphitheatre, and with the addition of a wee drink and a bite to eat as they extrapolate, I don't think there could be a better way to spend a summer's day! "Also, full disclosure this is both a steal and a homage to Oran Mor's brilliant A Play, A Pie and A Pint!' Alongside access to the talks, tickets include a complementary beer and a bap.
