Nebraska brings eyeballs and high ratings to College Basketball Crown
The Nebraska men's basketball program won the College Basketball Crown Tournament on Sunday, defeating the UCF Knights by a 77-66 score. It was quite a journey for the program, as they defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils, Georgetown Hoyas, and the Boise State Broncos on the way to the crown.
Plenty of people watched the tournament. Over 822,000 viewers watched the championship, up 62% over the NIT title game between Chattanooga and UC Irvine. The viewer interest was also there for the semi-finals. The semifinals averaged 706,000 viewers, 145% more than the NIT semifinals.
The fan support was undoubtedly there for a Nebraska basketball program that recorded back-to-back 20-win seasons. Now, the program will look to carry this momentum into next season, as they have stayed busy in the transfer portal and have several key players remaining.
At the very least, they were able to end the season on a high note.

That's frustrating—for sponsors, for fans who are paying for events and television coverage and don't know what they're getting. When fans don't get to see the best players, that's tough. LIV's model is what the sport needs to succeed.' Mickelson pointed to recent events as proof that LIV is setting the right course: 'We saw it even at last week's signature event. Non-conference schedule released for Nebraska's 2025-26 men's basketball season On Friday afternoon, the Nebraska men's basketball team released the non-conference schedule for the 2025-26 season. The Huskers start the season with exhibitions against BYU and Midland at the end of October. Other highlights include a game against Oklahoma to be played in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and participation in the Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City. Head coach Fred Hoiberg is excited for what the non-conference schedule holds for Nebraska this season. 'We have a number of tests in our non-conference schedule, beginning with the exhibition game with a BYU team that went to the Sweet 16 last season. That matchup will give us a good gauge heading into the season. We open with three straight home games before facing Oklahoma and two high-caliber games in the Hall of Fame Classic the following week. The December portion of the schedule features Creighton which will be one of the favorites in the Big East and two Big Ten games before we return to conference play in January.' The Huskers also have home matchups in the Big Ten against Purdue, Michigan State, Maryland, Wisconsin, Oregon, and Illinois.
