Trump Dismisses Intelligence Report Claims Strikes Didn't Destroy Iran Nuke Sites
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday strongly rejected an intelligence assessment that challenged his administration's claim that American airstrikes had 'totally destroyed' Iran's nuclear program.
The assessment by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), first reported by CNN, claims that U.S. strikes on three nuclear sites in Iran have not destroyed the core components of the country's nuclear program and have likely only set it back by a few months.
In a post on Truth Social, Donald Trump called out CNN reports and labelled it as 'Fake news'.
'Fake news CNN, together with the failing New York Times, have teamed up in an attempt to demean one of the most successful military strikes in history. The nuclear sites in Iran are completely destroyed! Both the Times and CNN are getting slammed by the public,' he wrote.

‘We made history': Indian-American Zohran Mamdani declares victory in NYC's Democratic mayoral primary
Indian-American Zohran Mamdani declared victory in New York City's Democratic mayoral primary on Tuesday night after former Governor Andrew Cuomo conceded in a surprising upset. The young progressive candidate built a strong lead over Cuomo. While the final result will depend on the ranked-choice voting tally, Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist who was largely unknown beyond political circles just a year ago, appeared to be in a dominant position, AP reported. In a speech to supporters, Mamdani said, 'Tonight, we made history.' 'I will be your Democratic nominee for the mayor of New York City,' he said. Cuomo, who was trying to make a comeback from a sexual harassment scandal, told supporters that he had called Mamdani to congratulate him. 'Tonight is his night. He deserved it. He won,' Cuomo told supporters. He trailed Mamdani by a significant margin in the first-choice ballots and faced an exceedingly difficult pathway to catching up when ballots were redistributed in New York City's ranked-choice voting process. According to unofficial results from New York City's Board of Elections, Zohran Mamdani appeared on more ballots than Andrew Cuomo, including as the second-choice candidate for tens of thousands more voters. With over 200,000 voters selecting only a first-choice candidate, the total number of ballots factored into the ranked-choice process is expected to decrease. This increases the likelihood that Mamdani's strong first-round showing could be enough to surpass the 50 per cent threshold and secure an outright win. The outcome of this race could offer insight into the kind of leadership Democrats are seeking during President Donald Trump's second term. Roughly four years after stepping down as governor amid a sexual harassment scandal, 67-year-old Andrew Cuomo entered the race as the frontrunner, leveraging his extensive political experience, widespread name recognition, influential connections and formidable fundraising network. In contrast, the Democratic Party's progressive faction united behind Zohran Mamdani. Initially a little-known state legislator, Mamdani built momentum with a focused campaign addressing the city's soaring cost of living. His candidacy gained further strength through high-profile endorsements from progressive leaders Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders. The rest of the pack has struggled to gain recognition in a race in which nearly every candidate has positioned themselves as the person best positioned to challenge Trump's agenda. Tonight is his night. He deserved it. He won. Cuomo resigned in 2021 after a report commissioned by the state attorney general concluded that he had sexually harassed at least 11 women. He has always maintained that he didn't intentionally harass the women, saying he had simply fallen behind what was considered appropriate workplace conduct.

FM rebuts US claim of high tariffs on imports
New Delhi : Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday refuted United States president Donald Trump's charge that India is the 'tariff king' in imposing high duties on American goods, contending that effective levies in India are far lower than the notified rates. Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, (File photo) (PIB) Continuing reforms to encourage domestic value-addition, India on February 1 announced removing seven tariff rates on industrial goods in the FY26 budget, leaving only eight rates in place that include the zero duty, she said at the Trade Conclave 2025 organised by the Exim Bank in New Delhi. Referring to the Union budget 2025-26, she said it rationalised customs tariff structure for industrial goods and removed seven tariff rates. Without any specific reference to the US president, she said: 'For all of us, or those of us who still believe in the commentary which was made in the US that India may be the tariff King. No, I want two things to be remembered. Given as system of things we seek Parliamentary approval for deciding on the tariff rate. You obtain from the Parliament the permission to go up to a certain level, but effectively, you are at a far lower level.' 'Effective rate is at a far lower level. But what gets published in the gazette would be that level for which you obtain permission from the Parliament. And it is that level which appears everywhere…,' she said, explaining that the levies notified in the gazette are the upper limit while effective duties are often less than the cap. Articulating reforms in customs duty structure in her budget speech on February 1, Sitharaman said: 'As a part of comprehensive review of Customs rate structure announced in July 2024 Budget, I propose to: (i) remove seven tariff rates. This is over and above the seven tariff rates removed in the 2023-24 budget. After this, there will be only eight remaining tariff rates including 'zero' rate.' An official who did not wish to be named said customs duty rationalisation is one of the key reforms of the government. 'Average customs duty in India has come down to 10.66%, which is closer to the rates prevailing in Asian countries. So, the narrative that India's customs duties are very high is wrong. In fact, most of the American goods enter India within the effective customs duty band of 0-10%,' he said. 'President Trump's remark about India is not new. He used the tag of 'tariff king' for India even in his first term. Since then, India undertook several customs reforms and even reduced tariffs on specific items of American interests such as automobiles, pharmaceuticals and Bourbon whisky. Seems, he is fixated in his opinion,' the official mentioned above said. According to a Hindustan Times report from Washington, published on October 2, 2018, Trump made his comments referring to India imposing 100% duty on iconic motorcycle, Harley-Davidson. Since then, import duties on bikes up to 1,600 cc and above 1,600 cc have been slashed to 40% and 30%, respectively. Union finance minister's comments came at a time when India and the US are negotiating an early harvest deal within a comprehensive Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) and talks are mainly focused on reducing tariff and non-tariff barriers for mutual benefit.

China Accuses CIA Making "Absurd" Attempt To Recruit Spies
Beijing accused the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) on Wednesday of making an "absurd" attempt to recruit Chinese citizens via videos posted to social media. China's Ministry of State Security (MSS) said the placement of what amounted to job advertisements on social media platform X was an "amateurish gambit" to convince people to spy for the Americans. "These two painstakingly crafted 'job ads', riddled with clumsy rhetoric and slanderous claims, lay bare the absurd logic and paranoid delusions of American intelligence agencies," the ministry said in a statement posted to its official WeChat account. "Once again, the self-proclaimed 'world's top intelligence power' has turned itself into an international laughingstock through its baffling incompetence," it added. CIA director John Ratcliffe said that the videos posted last month -- which implored the sharing of state secrets -- were aimed at "recruiting Chinese officials to help the US". Beijing condemned the posts at the time as "naked political provocation". The MSS vowed on Wednesday to "resolutely protect the nation's strategic interests and core secrets". It warned the CIA that "any attempt to incite betrayal among the Chinese people is doomed to fail, and any plot to infiltrate China for intelligence will prove futile". The intelligence agency's diatribe was among the top trending items on China's X-like Weibo platform on Wednesday, with users mocking the alleged job ads. "Can we organise a group of scammers to carry out a telecom fraud against the CIA? We can trick the US and make a little money at the same time," one wrote. The United States and China have long traded accusations of espionage. In April, security officials said they had implicated three US "secret agents" in cyberattacks during February's Asian Winter Games in the northeastern city of Harbin. The MSS said in March it had sentenced to death a former engineer for leaking state secrets to a foreign power.
