Sean ' Diddy ' Combs appears to be trying to connect with the potential jurors who will be deciding his fate during his sex-trafficking trial in Manhattan.
The rapper, 55, repeatedly nodded and smiled at the individuals being questioned during the jury selection process this week.
He appeared to be showing his approval for some jurors by nodding his head up and down or shaking it left and right, giving a subtitle indication of how he was feeling towards each person.
He nodded when a female black juror talked about how her sister had become addicted to crack during the crack epidemic in New York - apparently referring to the 1980s or 90s. The woman was allowed onto the next stage after saying she could put it out of her head when deliberating.
After she left the room, Diddy turned around and looked to the public gallery where his friend Charlucci Finney, an executive music producer, was sitting. Finney, who was wearing wristbands and a cap which said 'Free Puff' when he walked into court, shook his head and then Diddy shook his head in response.
As the selection process went on, Diddy smiled when a black female juror said she didn't know any people on the list of celebrities who may come up in the case but 'I wish I did.'
There was more nodding from Diddy when a black male juror was called: the man said that he worked as a kitchen designer and would lose his commissioned work if he served on the jury but he could 'survive' on his base pay. This time Diddy looked back at Finley in court and got a nod in response. The juror was allowed to continue on to the next stage.
Diddy nodded repeatedly again when a female juror talked about her Catholic faith and said that if she served on the jury she would have 'the life of somebody in your hands', adding: 'That's the hard part for me'. She said: 'I think I could do it but it's something I have to be very sure that person is (guilty).'
The woman was excused after telling the court that she had stomach issues which the judge said might disrupt the trial.
Jury selection resumed for a second day in the sex trafficking trial as a federal judge and lawyers worked Tuesday to find a dozen New Yorkers who believe they can be fair despite any opinions they may have developed about the music mogul.
By lunchtime on Tuesday, six jurors had been approved for the next stage of the process and seven had been struck.
The challenges of choosing a jury in such a high profile case became apparent when one juror, a white man, took a long pause when asked if he could ignore the video of Diddy beating up his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2016, which he had seen.
Prosecutors say Combs exploited his fame and fortune to sexually abuse women and destroy young lives while defense attorneys say he engaged in sexual activity with consenting adults.
The majority of prospective jurors questioned on Tuesday morning were disqualified after lawyers for Combs and prosecutors cited flaws in their answers to questions designed to see if they can be fair and unbiased.
Several who were eliminated from the jury pool had seen or heard media reports related to the case, including some who said they saw a video in which Combs was hitting and kicking one of his accusers in a Los Angeles hotel hallway in 2016.
Judge Arun Subramanian was seeking to build a pool of 45 prospective jurors from which a panel of 12 jurors and several alternates can be chosen. Nineteen were chosen on Monday and six more by noon Tuesday.
Opening statements are scheduled to be presented on March 12 for a trial projected to last up to two months.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to a five-count indictment charging him with leading a racketeering conspiracy from 2004 to 2024 that resulted in various crimes, including kidnapping, arson, bribery and sex trafficking.
The Bad Boy Records founder has been held without bail since his arrest at a Manhattan hotel last September.

Scottish musician's wife assaulted by 'bagpipe Karen' in shocking outburst in Texas park
The wife of a Scottish musician was allegedly assaulted in a Texas park after a woman became enraged by the sound of bagpipes. Scott Gibb was playing in a secluded area at Terry Hershey Park in Houston on May 26, when he was confronted by Eunice Isgur, 76. Witness testifies that Diddy dangled her over a balcony
Graphic designer Bryana Bongolan testified that Sean "Diddy" Combs once dangled her off a 17th floor apartment balcony, and that she saw him throw a knife at her friend Casandra Wednesday, prosecutors displayed photos taken by Ms Bongolan and her then-girlfriend of Ms Bongolan's bruises, which she claimed she sustained during the alleged 2016 attorneys worked to cast doubt on Ms Bongolan's credibility before the jury under intense cross-examination, during which she responded that she could not recall past statements she gave the faces charges of racketeering, conspiracy and sex trafficking. She hid her girlfriend in a bathroom and went to the balcony, then Mr Combs entered the apartment, and allegedly picked her up and lifted her onto the ledge, she told the said he repeatedly yelled, "You know what the (expletive) you did", and then threw her into the balcony showed the jury photos of a puncture and bruise on Ms Bongolan's leg, along with accompanying metadata displaying the date they were taken. She also testified she suffered night terrors and paranoia as a result of the another incident she described, Combs burst into Ms Ventura's apartment and allegedly threw a knife at the R&B singer. Ms Bongolan said Ms Ventura picked the knife up and threw it back. Neither of them was injured, she during a photoshoot in Malibu with Ms Ventura, Ms Bongolan alleged that Mr Combs got in her face and told her, "I'm the devil and I could kill you"."I was terrified," she told the court. A relentless cross-examination During cross examination, Mr Combs' defence attorney sought to undercut Ms Bongolan, who struggled to answer questions about her statements in previous meetings with Westmoreland repeatedly asked Ms Bongolan about what she told government prosecutors when she first met with them in January 2024. Several times, she asked her about the alleged balcony incident, but the witness struggled to recall details she described at the initial meeting. During her testimony two weeks ago, Ms Ventura, the prosecution's key witness told the court, "I saw him bring her back over the railing of the balcony and then throw her onto the patio furniture." Ms Westmoreland also asked Ms Bongolan about her initial account of the incident in Malibu. The defence attorney said Ms Bongolan originally told government prosecutors that Combs made that threat at a party, and Ms Bongolan testified she could not recall that the afternoon wore on, Ms Bongolan increasingly repeated that she could not recall details of previous conversations with prosecutors. At one point, Ms Westmoreland asked Ms Bongolan to recall her conversations with prosecutors two days prior. Asked about specifics, Ms Bongolan answered that she could not court also heard on Wednesday from forensic video editor Frank Piazza, who took the jury through recordings of the "Cassie video", which shows Mr Combs beating Ms Ventura in a hotel hallway in 2016. He explained that the recordings were untampered with and were an accurate Bongolan is expected to return to the stand Thursday. She will likely be followed by "Jane", whose testimony under a pseudonym could take several days.
