Al Ain and Juventus face off on Wednesday night in both teams' Club World Cup opener.
Igor Tudor will lead the Bianconeri into the tournament on the verge of being named permanent head coach, with the Croatian reportedly set to see his interim tag removed ahead of next season.
Tudor's first game will see his side heavily favored against Al Ain, the Emirati outfit which reached this stage by winning the 2023–24 AFC Champions League.

There should be some extra motivation for Juventus pair Weston McKennie and Tim Weah, who will play on home soil in the Club World Cup. The Americans missed out on Gold Cup duty with the U.S. men's national team this summer, instead participating in the newly expanded FIFA tournament.
Wydad AC and Manchester City are the other two teams in Group G. Pep Guardiola's side and Juve are expected to make up the top two spots and advance to the knockout phase.
Man City began the tournament with a 2-0 win over Wydad earlier on Wednesday, putting the pressure on Juventus to hold serve.
Here is everything you need to know ahead of the match.

Messi fit to face Porto: Inter Miami's Mascherano

Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano says Lionel Messi will be fit to face Porto in the MLS side's next Club World Cup game (ROBERTO SCHMIDT) Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano said Lionel Messi would be fit to face Porto at the Club World Cup on Thursday, despite showing signs of discomfort in training. A video emerged of Messi touching his left leg during the session on Wednesday, but Mascherano confirmed the veteran forward was ready for Miami's second Group A match in Atlanta. Advertisement "On the trip from Miami to Atlanta I saw that came out in some places, but Leo is fit, he trained, he completed the whole session," Mascherano told reporters. "He was touching his leg, sometimes people touch themselves, but there's no problem, he's fit and obviously he will play tomorrow." The coach said Messi's former Barcelona team-mate Jordi Alba was available after missing the opening 0-0 draw against Al Ahly due to injury. "We'll evaluate what's best for us, if he starts or not," said the coach. "Actually, I already know but I won't tell you." Advertisement Mascherano meanwhile said retaining possession would be the key against Portugal's Porto, regular Champions League participants who are likely to provide the MLS team with a stern test. "We have players who feel much more comfortable when they're in possession, dominating, and having control of the game through the ball," said the Argentine. "Of course, we're facing a team that also is used to doing that, who are a high level side. "But on the pitch we're 11 against 11, we'll try to shut down their strengths, expose their weaknesses and try to have a great game to get a good result." Advertisement Inter Miami midfielder Sergio Busquets, a member of Spain's 2010 World Cup-winning side and one of Messi's former Barcelona team-mates, admitted his team would be up against it at the Mercedes-Benz stadium. "They have very good players, they have reinforced and we know that it will be very difficult," Busquets told reporters. "They are a team that compete every year for their league, against other great teams like Sporting and Benfica. "We will try to be as solid as possible, stick close together and try to do the best we can as a team. "If we get chances, we have the individuals (who can finish them), but above all we have to be solid and keep a clean sheet." rbs/rcw

Lionel Messi ‘fine' and fit to play for Inter Miami against Porto in Club World Cup

Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano says Lionel Messi is 'fine' and available to play Porto on Thursday in the MLS side's second Club World Cup game. The former Barcelona star is key to Miami's hopes of making it out of group A and has been prominent in the marketing of the newly-expanded FIFA tournament this summer. Advertisement Mascherano was asked at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday about suggestions the 37-year-old was a doubt for the game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta after being spotted touching his leg in training. 'I saw that in some places it was being talked about. But no, no, it's nothing. (Messi) is fine,' he said. 'He trained, and more importantly, he trained well. And actually, we were talking right when I saw that the cameras ended up focusing — focusing on him touching his leg. It's nothing. Nothing at all. People sometimes just touch themselves, right? But no, nothing happened. He's fine. And obviously, he'll going to play tomorrow.' Messi captained Inter Miami at their Club World Cup opener against Al Ahly, a 0-0 draw, and played the whole game. All four teams in the group are tied on a point each, with the US side concluding their group campaign against Palmeiras on June 24. The top two teams at that point will progress to the knockouts. The MLS side qualified for the Club World Cup as host representatives after winning the 2024 Supporters' Shield. While the 2025 competition is the first edition of the Club World Cup under a new, expanded format, Messi won the previous iteration on three occasions with Barcelona in 2009, 2011 and 2015. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner previously suffered a 'low-grade' left adductor injury in March after completing the 90 minutes and scoring against Atlanta United. The injury forced him to take two weeks out and prevented him from playing in Argentina's March World Cup qualifiers, against Uruguay and Brazil.

Kylian Mbappé sidelined with illness for Real Madrid's Club World Cup opener

Associated Press MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Kylian Mbappe was sidelined for Real Madrid's Club World Cup opener on Wednesday as the star forward recovers from an illness. Coach Xabi Alonso told DAZN before the match against Al Hilal at Hard Rock Stadium that Mbappé had a 'fever, he was not feeling well. Hopefully back for the next one.' Recent signings Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen were in the lineup for the Spanish power against the Saudi Arabian club. The duo, both coming from the Premier League, could help Real Madrid reinforce a defense that's currently missing Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Dani Carvajal. ___ AP soccer:
