For 2GB, there is life after Ray Hadley
Talkback network 2GB will be relieved with signs there is life beyond Ray Hadley after the shock jock's replacement, Mark Levy, delivered a market-leading 15 per cent audience share on Thursday morning.
Levy, a former sports broadcaster, was appointed as the new Mornings host last year when Hadley stepped down after leading Sydney radio ratings for two decades.
His show was the beneficiary of a 2 percentage point jump, while station-mate Ben Fordham continued to lead in the breakfast slot, up 1.2 percentage points to a 15.4 per cent share. 2GB is owned by Nine, the publisher of this masthead.
Just one day after Kyle Sandilands, of The Kyle and Jackie O Show, threatened on air to take the pair's show off the airwaves in Melbourne if audiences didn't start listening in droves, the pair's share suffered a dip in their native Sydney.

The show fell to a 12.3 per cent share, down from 13.3 per cent, yet remained the clear number one FM show for the 50th ratings survey in a row. In Melbourne, the show had its most significant jump to date, rising to 5.8 per cent audience share.
'We're not going to super serve Melbourne and ignore our Sydney audience,' Sandilands said. 'Here's something I haven't even discussed with Jackie ... if we don't rate better by the end of this year, I'm pulling the carpet out. I'll just take the show off Melbourne.'
Overall, it was a survey of few surprises in Sydney, which included the period from February 9 to April 12, with a week's break in the middle.
Several years of shaky results for ABC Radio Sydney continued on Thursday morning, with its audience share dropping to 6.3 per cent overall.

'The show is not being cancelled': Seven denies Sonia Kruger in trouble after debunking reports Dancing With The Stars not renewed
Channel 7 has publicly denied reports that Dancing With The Stars Australia will not be renewed after speculation the cancellation could impact the show's hosts Sonia Kruger and Dr Chris Brown. Dancing With The Stars is set to return to Channel 7 next week with 12 popular Australian celebrities set to tackle the foxtrot. Kruger, 59, is reportedly under contract with Seven for over $1 million a year and currently hosts The Voice and Dancing With The Stars. The TV star, who began her career as a ballroom dancer and appeared in the iconic film Strictly Ballroom, has been closely associated with the dance series since it first aired on Seven in 2004. However, the TV star could soon be down to just one gig at Seven amid reports the upcoming season of the long-running dance competition series will be its last. A TV insider who spoke to claimed Seven was 'tipped to axe' Dancing With The Stars because the show is too expensive to produce. Seven's decision to 'revive' the show in 2021 was reportedly at the centre of contract negotiations to woo Kruger back from Channel 9. The contract, which made Kruger one of the highest-paid women in Aussie TV, also included gigs on the now-cancelled Holey Moley and Big Brother. If true, Kruger will be down to just her hosting duties on The Voice to justify her seven figure salary, a rarity in the industry amid a massive drop in viewers and advertising revenue in free-to-air. In a statement to the Daily Mail, Seven debunked reports that Dancing With The Stars will not return to screens in 2026 and insisted 'the show is not being cancelled'. Nine gave Kruger her first on-air presenting role on the series Wonder World! in the 1990s before she moved over to Seven to work as an entertainment reporter. In 2011, Kruger joined Nine for the second time where she hosted the morning program Mornings alongside David Campbell and its successor Today Extra, as well as Big Brother and The Voice. Kruger was rehired by Seven in 2019 by then-CEO James Warburton, who she infamously called 'God' in her Gold Logie acceptance speech. Despite decades of experience, Kruger was only nominated for the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter at the Logie Awards for the first time in 2022. She was first nominated for the Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television in 2022 and won the top gong in 2023.

Karate Kid: Legends star Jackie Chan learnt English through country music
Jackie Chan learnt English through country music. The 71-year-old actor - who grew up in Hong Kong and whose native language is Cantonese - found it easier to follow the lyrics of the genre because the songs are typically fairly "slow". During an appearance on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' on Tuesday (03.06.25), he said: "I learn English in country songs because country songs [are] slow." Jackie then went on to sing the chorus from 'Always on My Mind' by Willie Nelson, which sparked cheers from the audience and thrilled the host. Kelly exclaimed: "I just got serenaded by Jackie Chan! "That's how I'm going to take this day away." In 1998's 'Rush Hour', Jackie was famously asked by co-star Chris Tucker: 'Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?" And the 'Karate Kid: Legends' star admitted he didn't have "a clue" what his castmate was saying throughout the film. He said: 'The whole movie, I don't know what Chris Tucker's saying. Not a clue.' Jackie admitted his dialogue was "different" in "every shot" because of his struggles to get to grips with what was being said. He said: 'My dialogue coach sits right behind the camera. Every scene, every shot, different dialogue. "Every shot [was] different. Every time I just watched behind [the camera], the dialogue coach [went], 'Your turn. OK, let's go.'" Kelly asked the 'Ride On' actor if there was an "improv moment" when he did not understand what a fellow 'Rush Hour' cast member or crew member was saying, and he admitted there were many. Jackie said: "Yes! "The worst thing [was when they said], 'Cut. Take a rest. Jackie... [then something quickly]' "Then [I] turned around and said to my dialogue coach, 'What did he say?' [They] speak so fast!" In his latest movie 'Karate Kid: Legends', Jackie returns as Mr. Han and mentors his young nephew Li (Ben Wang) in martial arts after he is subject to bullying at school in New York City, and the screen legend admitted he did not need any training because he has learnt fight choreography since the 1960s. Jackie - who joined the 'Karate Kid' franchise in 2010 alongside Jaden Smith - said: 'I don't need to anymore. I've been training every day for 64 years. I've been fighting, fighting, fighting.'

Jackie Chan thought Michael Cera was a competition winner
Jackie Chan mistook Michael Cera for a competition winner. The martial arts legend was at the BBC Radio 2 studios to promote his new film 'The Karate Kid: Legends', while Michael had been plugging his latest project 'The Phoenician Scheme', and when he heard Jackie was in the building, he couldn't resist the chance to get his photo taken with him, though he admitted the 71-year-old star had no idea who he was. Speaking to NME, Michael explained a photographer told him Jackie was in the building. He added: 'She asked if I knew Jackie Chan, which I don't, so she said 'come meet him'. That was that. 'When I met him though, he was like 'who is this person, what's going on?'. We took a picture but I think he thought I was a competition winner. "He was like, 'OK let's do a picture real quick. Come on.' Not rudely. But I felt like I was invading his little personal time with his team before he goes on the radio. "So I was like, 'What am I doing here?' But everyone was very sweet and I got to meet Jackie.' The 36-year-old actor is a big fan of the Beatles and though he thinks it would be "cool" to meet surviving band members Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Ringo Starr, he'd also find it "weird". He said of the possibility: 'It would be cool but also strange. I don't know what I'd say [if I did meet them]. It would be weird to say anything. They'd be so bored by whatever I had to say, because they've heard it eight billion times from every other person on the planet. It must be hard to be a Beatle.' Michael - who has two sons with wife Nadine - released his debut album 'True That' in 2014 but hasn't released further music since 2017's 'Best I Can' and admitted he simply doesn't have the time to work on any at the moment. He said: 'I haven't really been creating any music recently. 'I play music every day but I have little kids now, so I just don't have time or focus to do anything productive in that way. I hope to again though. "Normally [everything I make] is for a specific project or has a specific intention but it's just my time management [right now].'
