Doughnut Snob brings gourmet doughnuts to CBS News Texas for National Doughnut Day
Friday is National Doughnut Day, and what better way to celebrate than with some of the best doughnuts North Texas has to offer?
CBS News Texas invited The Doughnut Snob, a Fort Worth-based food truck known for its gourmet creations, to pull up and treat the newsroom.

The team also got a peek inside the compact kitchen, where owner David Cudmore claims they're serving the best doughnuts in Texas, at least according to one particular customer base.
"There's a myth about law enforcement officers and doughnuts," Cudmore said. "We have been told repeatedly all over North Texas by police officers that we have the best doughnuts."
Sweet cream, buttermilk base
So, what's the secret?
"We make a sweet cream, buttermilk cake doughnut," Cudmore said.
Each doughnut starts with a rich batter that's dropped into hot oil by a machine he calls "the hopper," then fried to golden perfection. After that, the real fun begins -- decorating with a lineup of creative, homemade toppings.
Creative flavors steal the show
A favorite at the station was the apple cinnamon streusel dipped in a house-made crumble. But he also served up Samoa, Bavarian cream, maple bacon, Oreo, blueberry cheesecake, and their seasonal hit, strawberry shortcake doughnuts.
"My favorite is the blueberry cheesecake," Cudmore said. "They're definitely a splurge, but always worth it. Calories are calories," he added. "But doughnuts aren't always just doughnuts."
Competing for food truck gold
The Doughnut Snob has clearly made an impression in North Texas.
This weekend, Cudmore and his crew will compete at the Food Truck Championships of Texas in Graham, entering their seasonal strawberry shortcake doughnut in hopes of bringing home the gold -- and a grand prize of $10,000.

Texas to be paid based on how often users play with Longhorns on EA College Football 26 The University of Texas will be paid based on how many users play EA College Football 26 using the Longhorns. The "play-for-pay" model is a change on the way the video company pays for Name Image Likeness (NIL) rights to participating schools. According to Matt Liberman of beginning on the game's release on July 10, all 136 FBS schools that opted into the game will be compensated by their popularity with gamers. 'For each CFB product released by EA SPORTS, we (CLC Learfield) will provide a percentage for each institution based on the games played for that institution as a percentage of the total games played across all institutions. This percentage of games played will become the final allocation percentage for each school that will be applied to the total gross royalties for all institutions received.' - EA document obtained by cllct Previously, teams were divided into five tiers based on a decade of AP rankings. Tier 1 earned just shy of $100,000, while Tier 5 made less than $10,000. Texas was in Tier 2 and earned just short of $60,000. Colorado Renaissance Festival will not have elephant shows: PETA
DENVER (KDVR) — There will be no elephant shows at the Colorado Renaissance Festival in Larkspur this year, according to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. PETA said in a press release that Colorado Parks and Wildlife made the decision after calls and emails from members of PETA and Compassion Works International. Additionally, the University of Denver's College of Law threatened to take legal action if CPW were to permit elephants at the festival. Previous: DU's College of Law threatens legal action if CPW permits elephants at Renaissance Festival The animals were brought to the festival by Texas-based exotic animal exhibitor Trunks and Humps, which PETA said provided elephants for the festival for a long time. PETA said that the three elephants used by the company were captured from Africa over 40 years ago and claims that they have been forced to perform in a circus style since they were infants. Colorado law prohibits the use of elephants and other exotic animals in traveling circus-style shows. PETA claims that Trunks and Humps threatens animals into doing tricks and gets past the law by falsely claiming an exemption for 'educational' shows. Similar claims were included in the letter from the DU College of Law to CPW. 'Renaissance festivals may celebrate the past, but beating and threatening elephants with bullhooks should be relegated to the history books,' PETA Foundation Senior Director of Captive Wildlife Debbie Metzler said in a release.
