NYAB to undertake E4 road upgrade project in Sweden

Yahoo24-04-2025

Nordic company NYAB has entered an agreement with the Swedish Transport Administration to undertake the reconstruction and widening of a 15km stretch of the E4 road between Gumboda and Grimsmark in Västerbotten County, Sweden.
The Skr409m ($42.8m) project encompasses the rebuilding of the E4 into a 2+1 road configuration, spanning a width of 14m.
The road will feature a central barrier for enhancing safety. The construction of five bridges is also planned along this route.
Construction is scheduled to start this month, with an anticipated completion date in October 2027.
NYAB business area manager Infrastructure Mattias Broström said: "Västerbotten is an expansive region, and a safe and efficient infrastructure is important for residents, businesses, and industries across northern Sweden.
"We have strong experience from similar complex projects on heavily trafficked roads where traffic must continue to flow safely during construction. We also have an established and positive relationship with the Swedish Transport Administration and look forward to continuing to deliver safety and quality through cost-efficient production."
Headquartered in Luleå, Sweden, NYAB is a provider of engineering, construction, and maintenance services, focusing on infrastructure, industrial construction, and energy sectors.
The company operates primarily in Sweden, Finland, and Norway and has around 1,100 employees.
Last month, NYAB was awarded a Skr144m contract by the Swedish Transport Administration for the initial segment of the North Bothnia Line, with the project expected to conclude by the end of next year.
Furthermore, NYAB secured a Skr164m contract from Umeå Hamn for the redevelopment of the Northern Quay at the Port of Umeå in Sweden.
This project involves the construction of a new quay, the demolition of the existing structure, dredging works, and the creation of a ramp to facilitate loading and unloading operations.

Pedestal and Willem Van Hooff's 'Ceramic Power Gems' Reimagine Power Solutions as Sculptural Objects

Summary Nordic design brandPedestalhas partnered with Dutch ceramic artistWillem van Hooffto create a limited collection of 'Ceramic Power Gems.' Van Hooff is celebrated for his expressive ceramics, which blend primitive techniques with contemporary design, drawing inspiration from historical objects and traditional craftsmanship. Pedestal, on the other hand, is known for its playful use of color and its embrace of modularity, architectural, and minimalistic forms that elevate interior spaces. This collaboration merges Pedestal's high-performance power modules with van Hooff's raw, textural ceramic work, resulting in sculptural objects that are both industrial and earthy in expression. The 'Ceramic Power Gems' collection challenges the traditional idea that power solutions must be concealed, transforming functional design into a bold aesthetic statement. Kristian Fæste, Pedestal's brand manager, describes the collection as 'something both industrial and expressive, something that earns its place in the room.' Van Hooff adds, 'This collaboration gave me the opportunity to shape something rough and handmade around a precise, engineered core.' Set to debut this September, the 'Ceramic Power Gem' collection will be available exclusively as a limited drop on Pedestal'swebsite. In the meantime, check out some of the pieces from the collection above.

H&M Billionaire Quietly Moves Retailer Toward Private Ownership

Hennes & Mauritz AB, the fast-fashion retailer that's been listed on the Swedish stock market since 1974, is steadily moving back toward private ownership. The founding family has stepped up purchases of H&M shares, spending more than 63 billion kronor ($6.6 billion) since 2016 and fueling speculation it could take the Stockholm-based company back into private hands — despite denials from family members.
