
Fire burning near Royal City
Jun. 9—ROYAL CITY — Grant County Fire District 10, state, federal and other local firefighters are battling a blaze about 14 miles northwest of Royal City as of 6:30 p.m. Monday.
The Road R Fire had burned more than 200 acres near the intersection of Beverly Burke Road and Road 11 Southwest Monday evening, said Kyle Foreman, public information officer for the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
The fire is burning in timothy hay and sagebrush, Foreman said. There is no threat to the public and no evacuation.
While it's burning near State Route 26, there were no road closures as of 6:30 p.m. Foreman said the fire is being managed.

Grass fire shuts down eastbound Highway 50 in Placerville
PLACERVILLE — Eastbound Highway 50 in Placerville has been shut down late Tuesday afternoon due to a grass fire. California Highway Patrol's Placerville division said the highway closure shouldn't be lifted soon, as firefighters were making great progress on what is being called the Point Fire. Brush Fire sparks along Burbank hillside neighborhood
Firefighters are trying to extinguish a brush fire along the hillsides near Burbank. The fire started at roughly 3:40 p.m. near the 1000 block of Bethany Road. The Burbank Fire Department said it was a two-alarm fire. Firefighters have not issued evacuation orders. The Burbank Police Department closed all hiking trails above the city, including Wildwood Canyon and Stough Nature Center. "If you are on or near the hiking trails or in these recreation areas in the Burbank hills, please leave the area immediately. Officers are in the area to assist," the department posted on social media.
