Angolan President Lourenco specifically asked for India's support in healthcare, doctors and paramedical forces. There is a need in great numbers. They are expanding the healthcare sector with the creation of new hospitals in that country. And Honorable Prime Minister mentioned about not only the possibility of supplying vaccines and medicines and pharma products in Africa, but also to be able to set up Janaushadhi units in that country. We will be exploring that opportunity.'
New Delhi [India], May 4 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs said that Angolan President Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco 'specifically' requested India's support in improving healthcare infrastructure in Angola during the delegation level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi.
MEA officials also informed that discussions were also held on subjects of space and digital infrastructure.
'The new areas of cooperation which were discussed by the two leaders is actually Space. As you know, Angola already has a satellite mission control centre, which is currently assisted by the Russians and the French, but India has low-cost satellite launch technologies and Honorable Prime Minister offered this to Angola. And we will have to see how we can expand this particular area of great interest to both sides. And there is a lot of potential there,' he said.
'The Digital Public Infrastructure is another area that was discussed and again there seems to be great promise there and for Angola admittedly it is a new area. But Honorable Prime Minister explained the benefits of it and how it can enhance the governance part, the ease of living part and it was very well received by Honorable President Lourenco and we will see how our exports can take this forward,' official added.
Meanwhile, India and Angola have decided to boost their defence cooperation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, offering $200 million worth of lines of credit in the defence sector during the visit of Angolan President Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco. (ANI)

"And so we've got to make sure we have to call out the message that the illegal occupation of part of India in Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistan should end. Those troops should leave, and the whole of Jammu and Kashmir should be united as one principal state, as was intended back in 1947. And then we can lead to the eradication of terrorism and make sure that the people of that great state can celebrate the beauty of the valley," he added. Mr Blackman further raised critical concerns over Pakistan's use of international aid money, questioning whether funds meant for the country's development were being diverted to purchase Chinese weapons for terrorism against India. He also expressed the UK's condolences and support for India's anti-terrorism actions, emphasising India's desire for peace and questioning Pakistan's misuse of aid for military purposes, advocating for its use in health initiatives like polio eradication. "We had a meeting and it's great to see the delegation from all parts of India... Everyone from the United Kingdom expresses their condolences and support for the people of India who've suffered this terrorist outrage... India wants peace and tranquillity between the two," Mr Blackman stated. "The money that's sent to Pakistan, what is it used for? What it shouldn't be used for is buying Chinese weapons that would then enable terrorists to attack India, and I take a very strong view that our international aid money that should go to Pakistan should be going for the eradication of polio and other infectious diseases that benefit the people of Pakistan rather than it being used illicitly for military purposes," he added. The BJP MP-led all-party delegation earlier held a meeting with the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG)-India, which Blackman was a member of. During the meeting, the UK MPs affirmed the country's solidarity with India in isolating Pakistan and enhancing security cooperation. Key figures like House of Lords MP Lord Karan Bilimoria and former member of the UK Parliament Shailesh Vara also expressed unanimous cross-party support in the UK for India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, alongside discussions on deepening India-UK ties in trade, security, and education, despite last-minute camera restrictions leading to phone recordings.

3 Punjab men, who went missing in Iran, rescued
Three Indians who were abducted in Iran last month have been freed by Tehran police, authorities confirmed on Tuesday. The rescued men - Amritpal Singh from Hoshiarpur, Jaspal Singh from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, and Hushanpreet Singh from Sangrur - had travelled to Iran on May 1 after being lured by a travel agency with promises of a safe route and job prospects in Australia. However, shortly after their arrival in Tehran, the trio were abducted and held captive by their traffickers, who then demanded ransom from their families back in India. The Iranian Embassy in India announced the rescue via a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), confirming the successful police operation in Varamin, a town south of Tehran. The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' consular affairs department coordinated the efforts alongside local police. "Three missing Indian citizens freed by Tehran police," the Embassy posted.
