Eastern Province offers SAR 330B in investments: Al Falih

Saudi Arabia's Minister of Investment, Khalid Al-Falih, said that the Eastern Province offers more than 600 investment opportunities, with a total value exceeding SAR 330 billion.
Speaking at the Jubail Investment Forum 2025, Al-Falih stated that the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the Eastern Province reached SAR 366 billion, representing 42% of the Kingdom's total FDI, indicating that the Eastern Province ranks first in the Kingdom in FDI.
The number of active foreign investment licenses reached 5,456 as of early 2025. These investments helped to create job opportunities for more than 53,000 individuals, achieving a Saudization rate of 36%, he added.
He further highlighted that 34 international companies were granted licenses to establish their regional headquarters in the province, as part of the Ministry's Regional Headquarters Program (RHQ).
Ras Al-Khair Special Economic Zone, launched in 2023 to serve the maritime industries value chain, targets investments worth approximately SAR 26 billion. The zone aims to localize the shipbuilding ecosystem, with a goal of reaching up to 50% localization of key components over the next decade, the official added.
He stated that the Invest Saudi platform showcases these opportunities in an integrated manner to connect investors both locally and globally, stressing the Ministry's commitment to continue attracting high-quality investments and strengthening the eastern province's position as a leading global investment destination.

This visit aligns with the Ministry's broader strategy to elevate the global competitiveness of Saudi Arabia's agricultural sector, promote the production and export of local agricultural goods, enhance trade relations with the Netherlands, and deepen international cooperation. In a candid conversation with Saudi Gazette, Omar Malabarey, newly appointed Country General Manager for Becton Dickinson in Saudi Arabia, shares his vision for the company's role in the Kingdom's fast-evolving healthcare sector. With decades of experience across public and private healthcare, Malabarey discusses BD's commitment to local talent development, digital transformation, and strategic partnerships aligned with Vision 2030. Q: Congratulations on your appointment as General Manager of BD in Saudi Arabia. Can you share your journey leading to this role and what it means to you? A: My journey in healthcare has been both dynamic and fulfilling. I graduated in Radiological Sciences from the University of Wales (UK)and began my career as a radiology technologist at a Military hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Following a decade in public healthcare, I transitioned to the corporate sector, where I held several senior leadership roles in digital health services. My journey then took me to the Ministry of Investment (formerly SAGIA), where I was the managing director for healthcare investment and promotion efforts responsible of medical devices , medical services , digital health and pharmaceutical investments . Before joining BD, I held the role of Chief commercial officer (CCO)at the National Unified Procurement Company) NUPCO. Stepping into this role at BD is a natural continuation of my mission to enhance the healthcare ecosystem system in KSA. Saudi Gazette report LONDON— Saudi Minister of Investment, Eng. Khalid Al-Falih, is heading the Saudi delegation participating in the Saudi-UK Partnership and Investment Summit, which is being held on Wednesday at Mansion House in London. The summit is organized by the Saudi-British Joint Business Council and hosted by the City of London Corporation. It is supported by the Ministry of Investment and the UK Department for Business and Trade, and is attended by more than 400 policymakers, senior investors, and business leaders from both countries. The summit aims to explore prospects for bilateral cooperation and enhance partnership and investment opportunities between the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia. It includes a high-level ministerial dialogue bringing together Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih and British Minister of Investment Baroness Bobby Gustafson in a special session highlighting the development of strategic relations between the two countries and their shared vision for the future.
