Ukraine's spider web attack shocks Russia, but doesn't change the course of the war or of talks in Istanbul. On June 1, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that they had taken out dozens of Russian strategic fighter jets in a coordinated drone attack.
Operation Spider's Web was carried out by smuggling drones into Russia, transporting them by truck near five airbases picked from the west and east of Russia. From there, the drones were released by remote and carried out the assault. Russia hit back with one of its deadliest assaults on Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, using what Ukraine estimated was about 400 drones and 40 missiles.

In the second leg of the tour, PM Modi will head to Canada to participate in the G-7 Summit at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. "This would be PM Modi's 6th consecutive participation in the G-7 Summit," the MEA stated. The final stop of his tour will be Croatia, where PM Modi will pay an official visit on June 18 at the invitation of Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. This will mark the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Croatia, described by the MEA as a significant milestone in India-Croatia relations. During his stay, PM Modi will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Plenkovic and meet Croatian President Zoran Milanovic. The visit is expected to further strengthen India's ties with its partners in the European Union.

Cities brace for large crowds at anti-Trump 'No Kings' demonstrations across the US
PHILADELPHIA: Cities large and small were preparing for major demonstrations Saturday across the U.S. against President Donald Trump, as officials urge calm, National Guard troops mobilize and Trump attends a military parade in Washington to mark the Army's 250th anniversary. A flagship 'No Kings' march and rally are planned in Philadelphia, but no events are scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C., where the military parade will take place on Trump's birthday The demonstrations are gaining additional fuel from protests flaring up around the country over federal immigration enforcement raids and Trump ordering National Guard troops and Marines to Los Angeles where protesters blocked a freeway and set cars on fire. Police responded with tear gas, rubber bullets and flash-bang grenades while officials enforced curfews in Los Angeles and Democratic governors called Trump's Guard deployment 'an alarming abuse of power' that "shows the Trump administration does not trust local law enforcement.' Governors and city officials vowed to protect the right to protest and to show no tolerance for violence. Republican governors in Virginia, Texas, Nebraska and Missouri are mobilizing National Guard troops to help law enforcement manage demonstrations.
