Fans in uproar as Manny Pacquiao, 46, announces comeback to fight for world title… despite not winning in SIX YEARS
MANNY PACQUIAO has announced he is coming out of retirement and walking straight into a world title shot - causing fan uproar.
The Filipino great took to social media to confirm a July 19 bout in Las Vegas against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios.

He posted: "I'm back. On July 19, I return to the ring to face WBC Welterweight Champion Mario Barrios at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
"Let's make history!"
Interestingly, neither Barrios nor Premier Boxing Champions - due to promote the fight - spoke out to confirm the bout.
But Pacquiao's post still caused havoc amongst fans with the boxing legend primed for a title shot after four years out and six without a win.
One said: "Legend, but nah don't do this."
Pacquiao's last win came in 2019, beating Keith Thurman.
He was then due to face Errol Spence Jr in August 2021 until an eye injury forced the Texan out, with Yordenis Ugas replacing him.

Ugas sprung a surprise upset on Pacquiao, who announced his retirement after the point loss to run for president in the Philippines.
But after a failed election, rumours of a boxing return began swirling for PacMan, who later faced Korean YouTuber DK Yoo in a 2022 exhibition.
Pacquiao then returned last July for another exhibition, against Japanese kickboxer Rukiya Anpo in Tokyo.
And the eight-division champ showed his age over the three rounds - with fans urging him never to fight again.
But talks were taking place behind the scenes for Pacquiao to make a professional comeback in a bid for the welterweight title.
Per WBC rules, a contender must be ranked within their top 15 in order to be eligible for a championship bout.
So it came as little surprise when Pacquiao sneaked back into the WBC's top five in mid May - despite his absence from the ring.
Boxing's oldest world champ of all time is Bernard Hopkins, who won a world title aged 49.

Arslan won his first version of a world title in 2008 when he converted his WBA Interim title into the Regular belt, beating Virgil Hill on points. He lost this title the next year to Guillermo Jones The German challenged unsuccessfully for full world titles three times, fighting Marco Huck twice for the WBO cruiserweight title and Yoan Pablo Hernandez for the IBF title between 2012 and 2014. Undeterred by falling short, Arslan continued to campaign and in 2020 earned himself a shot at Kevin Lerena's IBO cruiserweight title, but once again lost, getting knocked out in the sixth round. In such a long career, the Chicago-born fighter had the opportunity to share the ring with heavyweight greats such as James 'Buster' Douglas, Tony Tucker, Lennox Lewis and Larry Holmes. McCall debuted in 1985, with mixed results, losing five fights before challenging for his first world title against Lennox Lewis in 1994. In the defining moment of his career, McCall knocked out Lewis in the second round to claim the WBC title, defending once before losing it to Frank Bruno the next year. He would only compete for a world title once more in his career in a rematch with Lennox Lewis that saw him pulled out of the fight in the fifth round. Vasiliy Lomachenko retires from boxing aged 37 after glittering career
Vasiliy Lomachenko, a three-division world champion, two-time Olympic gold medalist and arguably the greatest amateur boxer in history, announced his retirement from the sport at the age of 37. 'I'm grateful for every victory and every defeat both in the ring and in life,' the Ukrainian said in a video on Instagram Thursday morning. 'I'm thankful that as my career comes to an end, I've gained clarity about the direction a person must take in order to achieve true victory, not just in the ring.' Lomachenko posted a professional record of 18-3 with 12 knockouts. He won a total of six major world championships while competing in the featherweight, super featherweight and lightweight divisions. He last fought nearly one year ago, recording a TKO in the 11th round against former undisputed lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr in Perth, Australia. Lomachenko won gold at both the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2012 London Olympics at featherweight and lightweight, respectively. He sported a sterling 396-1 record as an amateur. 'To my family, you have always stood by me. You shared in my victories, and you felt the pain of my losses. Those losses only made us stronger,' Lomachenko said. Christian Bale was more cantankerous coach than caped crusader as he appeared on set this week for his latest film. The actor - famed for his roles in Batman and American Psycho - was seen shooting scenes for the NFL-themed biopic, Madden, in which he will play the late Oakland Raiders owner and manager Al Davis. For the shots, the 51-year-old Hollywood star had balding hair slicked back and wore a leather jacket and white T-shirt. The David O Russell movie boasts an all-star cast, with Nicolas Cage starring as John Madden, the Raiders coach and NFL broadcaster who gave his name to the Madden NFL video game. John Mulaney plays Trip Hawkins, the founder of Electronic Arts, while Sienna Miller plays Madden's wife. Al was the managing general partner, principal owner and de facto general manager of the Raiders for 39 years, from 1972 until his death in 2011. On Monday, Sienna and Kathryn Hahn were spotted for the first time in their elegant retro attire as they got into character. Sienna, 43, was particularly glammed up with voluminous blonde curls, beaded necklaces and a glimmering dress with a 60s-inspired print. Kathryn - who plays Virginia Madden - was outfitted in over-sized sunglasses, a chic pea coat and striped turtleneck. Sienna is playing Carol Davis, who was married to Oakland Raiders owner Al from 1954 until his death in 2011. While the Raiders are now in Las Vegas, the team has remained in the Davis family since Al died. Carol is now 95 and is part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, after inheriting the team from her spouse.
