Traffic heavy on major highways as vehicles exit KL for Aidiladha
KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic flow remains heavy on several major highways due to increased number of vehicles leaving the federal capital in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha today.
A spokesman for PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) said as of 10.30 pm tonight, traffic was reported to be slow on the North-South Expressway (NSE) and the Kuala Lumpur-Karak (KLK) Expressway.
'In addition, slow-moving traffic was also detected on the PLUS E2 northbound route from Skudai Toll Plaza to Sedenak and from Yong Peng to Pagoh, while southbound traffic was slow from Southville City to the Seremban Rest and Service Area and from Bandar Ainsdale to Senawang.
'For the PLUS E1 route, northbound delays are expected from Bukit Lanjan to Rawang, Sungkai to Bidor, Bidor to Tapah, Tapah to Gopeng, and Perai to Bertam,' the spokesman told Bernama.
The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) social media platform posted that the KLK Expressway was congested eastbound from Gombak to Bukit Tinggi and from Lentang to Bentong.
The public can obtain the latest traffic updates via the toll-free PLUSLine at 1-800-88-0000, the X platform @plustrafik, the LLM Info Trafik WhatsApp channel, or X @llmtrafik.
Meanwhile, in Kelantan, traffic flow at both border checkpoints - Gua Musang-Kuala Lipis and Terengganu-Kelantan via the Pasir Puteh road—remained smooth as of 9.30 pm tonight, following some congestion earlier this evening.
A state police spokesperson said officers have been deployed to monitor and control traffic flow in both border checkpoint areas to ensure smooth travel.

KUALA LUMPUR: Traffic on all major highways nationwide on the morning of the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration is reported to be smooth-flowing and under control, despite a slight increase in the number of vehicles at the Gombak Toll Plaza of the KL-Karak Expressway. Malaysians flock to Thailand for Hari Raya Aidiladha getaway
KUALA LUMPUR: A growing number of Malaysians are opting to cross the border into southern Thailand for a festive getaway this Hari Raya Aidiladha, swapping the traditional homecoming journey for a holiday experience abroad. According to Buletin Utama, Customs officials reported that more than 13,000 individuals were recorded crossing the border checkpoint. This included 7,000 Thai nationals, nearly 5,000 Malaysians, and the remainder from other foreign countries. A survey found that the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) complex in Padang Besar was bustling with Malaysians heading into Thailand, as outbound traffic from Malaysia continued to rise. Many travellers were seen in vehicles bearing local registration plates. When asked, travellers said they were seeking a festive experience in popular southern Thai destinations such as Satun and Hat Yai. "For us, it's a last-minute plan due to the school holidays, and I wanted to bring the family into Thailand," said Mohd Isyraq Abdul Sani, a traveller from Johor. "Previously, we drove, but this time we're taking the KTMB train because we're concerned about heavy traffic," said Tan Kok Way, a traveller from Kedah. In addition to sightseeing, some motorists are using Thailand as an alternative route to reach their hometowns in Kelantan, as the journey is shorter — despite the need to pass through two international checkpoints. "This route is shorter, and it makes a big difference compared to the usual way. Also, there's no traffic jam when travelling through Thailand. It takes about three and a half hours, whereas within Malaysia, it would take around seven to eight hours," said road user Muhammad Fakhrul Azim Abdullah.
