Ex-NBA Player Makes Bold Claim About Nikola Jokic's Superstar Status
Ex-NBA Player Makes Bold Claim About Nikola Jokic's Superstar Status originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The season came to an unfortunate end for the Denver Nuggets, as they fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games in the Western Conference semifinals. Some around the NBA were surprised the Nuggets made it as far as they did, considering they fired head coach Michael Malone just days before the end of the regular season.

Ex-NBA player makes bold claim about Nikola Jokic
Former NBA players DeMarcus Cousins and Chandler Parsons were discussing what makes someone a superstar on Run It Back on FanDuelTV, and some Nuggets fans might not agree with Cousins' take.
"Obviously, it's the on-court performance. I think that's the No. 1 thing," Cousins said. "Are you marketable? Can the league sell you? Do people like you? Global impact as well. Once you start having that global impact, obviously, you're going to that superstar status.

"As great as Jokic is, you can't sell him. You can't market him. He's not this great personality. I had the opportunity to be teammates with him. He doesn't care about the spotlight. He doesn't want to be that type of guy."
Many might disagree with Cousins regarding this topic, particularly on the fundamental level of what defines a superstar. It's hard not to consider a five-time All-NBA First Team member and three-time Most Valuable Player award winner a superstar.
While Jokic might not be hosting his own podcast anytime soon, that shouldn't exclude him from the conversation about superstars. The Nuggets will likely have an interesting offseason as they look to keep their championship window open and surround Jokic with more reliable pieces.

Two Teams Emerge as ‘Most Likely' to Land Kevin Durant in Trade
Two Teams Emerge as 'Most Likely' to Land Kevin Durant in Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Phoenix Suns' offseason has been a busy one after falling short of the NBA Playoffs with a 36-46 record. The Suns finished as the No. 11 seed in the Western Conference a year after getting swept out of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Advertisement Shortly after the season's conclusion, the Suns announced they were parting ways with head coach Mike Budenholzer. More changes followed quickly, as the Suns moved James Jones into a senior advisory role and inserted Brian Gregory as general manager. Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant dunks against Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul Streicher-Imagn Images Two teams emerge as "most likely" to land Kevin Durant Brian Gregory is someone that Mat Ishbia trusts deeply, going back to their days at Minnesota State when Ishbia was a player and Gregory an assistant coach. One of his first orders of business will likely be how to navigate the situation with Kevin Durant. Rumors were circulating at the trade deadline that the Suns were looking to move him, but no such deal was ever made. Instead, they made one more run at trying to sneak into the NBA Play-In Tournament, but those hopes were dashed when Durant suffered an ankle injury. Advertisement According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, two teams stand out as the most likely destination for Durant. 'Things are obviously fluid at this stage, but the two teams most frequently cited as potential landing spots for Durant entering Saturday's business, league sources say, were Minnesota and Miami,' Fischer wrote. The Suns will likely do everything they can to appease Durant's wishes, but since he doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract, it's ultimately up to the Suns as to which team they send him to. They're not in a position to turn down a better trade package just to make Durant happy on his way out the door. Advertisement Miami doesn't have much to offer Phoenix, and the friendship between Durant and Anthony Edwards following their participation for Team USA is noteworthy. The Suns could move Durant sooner rather than later, especially if the deal involves first-round picks with the 2025 NBA Draft less than two weeks away. PFF Names Packers' $14 Million Tackle To 2025 All-Breakout Team
PFF Names Packers' $14 Million Tackle To 2025 All-Breakout Team originally appeared on Athlon Sports. This time of year marks a quiet period on the NFL calendar, with most teams entering a break before training camp. For the Green Bay Packers, that means no on-field activity until late July. The team completed its mandatory minicamp from June 10 to 12, and players and coaches are now off until camp begins. Advertisement Players like Jordan Love, Edgerrin Cooper, and Mecole Hardman have made headlines throughout the offseason program, whether through praise from coaches and teammates or social media videos highlighting their plays in practice. Overall, the 2025 Packers have the potential to be a great team—but that will only happen if the coaches have the right plan in place and the players fully understand what the team is trying to accomplish. A few breakout performances in 2025 could go a long way in unlocking that potential. Packers tackle Jordan Morgan is a prime example — Pro Football Focus included him on their 2025 All-Breakout Team, and Green Bay should expect him to take a big step forward next season. While he began his career as a tackle, Morgan played 185 snaps at guard during his rookie season. Heading into 2025, he is expected to compete for the starting left tackle job in training camp. Advertisement "Based on their hallmark offseason moves, the Packers have intended to make life easier on Jordan Love by signing Aaron Banks and drafting Matthew Golden in the first round," wrote PFF's Bradley Locker. "The next step in that plan would figure to be starting Morgan." "Morgan, Green Bay's first-round pick a year ago, played only 186 snaps as he endured a shoulder injury," he added. "Experiencing over 65 snaps at each guard spot, Morgan generated a 59.2 overall PFF grade and a 61.5 PFF pass-blocking grade, both of which fell below expectations for a player of his caliber. Still, 2024 proved to be Morgan's first campaign at guard after never playing a snap there at Arizona." Locker also touched on the current state of Green Bay's offensive line in his article. While the plan is for Jordan Morgan to compete at tackle, Locker suggests he could slide inside to play guard. "In light of the Packers' offensive line reshuffling, Elgton Jenkins is expected to slide from guard to center, leaving an opening at the corresponding guard spot next to the newcomer Banks," he said. "Given Morgan's college pedigree — he turned in an 83.4-plus overall PFF grade in both 2022 and 2023 — he appears poised to win that job, if not follow in Jenkins' and others' footsteps and break out." Advertisement The Packers have Zach Tom and Rasheed Walker slated to hit unrestricted free agency in 2026. Green Bay will likely extend Tom, while the most probable scenario for Walker is hitting the open market next year. If that happens, Morgan could step in as Jordan Love's blindside protector. However, if Morgan gets considerable snaps at guard and has a productive season, it will be hard for the coaching staff to move him out of that role. Advertisement As Howard begins life after the NBA, he is in the Big 3 league and got into a fight with former NBA player Lance Stephenson. The two former pro players got into a physical altercation and were then ejected from the contest.
