A WOMAN has revealed why she ditched the UK to live her dream life on the cheapest island in the Caribbean.
Mami Juaniita, who previously lived and grew up in Lewisham, London, said it was the best decision she had made.

Taking to social media, the 31-year-old aspiring DJ asked why anyone was staying in the UK.
She said: "You lot in London? Lad, what you still doing there?
"I'm from South London, so I'm from the best part of London. Lewisham, to be exact.
"And I moved. Sounds crazy, I know, but I moved to the Caribbean.
"I live in the Dominican Republic."
The Dominican Republic is the cheapest island in the Caribbean, making it a hotspot for tourism and expats.
Mami revealed she built her dream, all-pink house on the island and even has a motorbike and a Jeep.
She revealed the house was 'cheap as chips' and that the way of life was so much better than in the UK.
And we can see why, the Dominican Republic is a place of natural beauty with Bavaro Beach being the seventh 'Best Beach' for the TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Awards in 2025, praised for its "white sand, excursions and resorts".
To the north of the island is the Los Haitises National Park which is home to one of the Dominican Republic's few remaining rainforests.

And city life there boasts great party spots and restaurants to dine out.
But that's not all, Mami even found love while in the country, has three dogs and a cat and has a great community around her.
She added: "I know all my neighbours, my whole community, every single one of them, and they love and accept me."
The clip posted to her TikTok account @ mijuanaa has since gone viral with over 440k views and 48k likes.

A TikTok user known for her budget-saving hacks has shared her incredible trick to keeping the leafy vegetable crisp for months. In a now-viral video, the creator claimed her head of romaine lettuce was still fresh and ready to use a whole month after its recommended use-by date. The woman, who posted the video at the end of May, explained that she had purchased the lettuce at the end of March. 'To prove it to you, the best before date is April 25,' she shared. 'Here's how I've been keeping it fresh for so long,' she continued, before pulling the greens out of the plastic bag it came in to show the camera. She then showed the head of romaine lettuce to the camera, revealing that she had covered the end of it in a damp paper towel. 'I put a little napkin or paper towel, damp, just on the end,' she explained. She claimed that just under a whopping two months later, she has to peel off the outer layer of the lettuce but insisted that everything under that is perfectly fine to eat. 'This is a perfect head of lettuce after two months,' she said triumphantly, adding in a comment that she checks the paper towel and re-dampens it when she needs to. Marc Porcar, CEO of QR Code Generator, said: "Scotland dominates the list of best UK beaches, claiming four out of the top five spots." Coming out in top place is the stunning Luskentyre Beach on the Isle of Harris. The bay had an impressive 93.79 per cent of reviews giving it five stars. This beach boasts white sands, blue-green waters and was named one of the UK's best beaches in the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Awards. Often mistaken for the Caribbean, it is found on the west coast of South Harris in the Outer Hebrides.
