Glastonbury backstage photographer ready for Raye and Rodrigo

As stars like Olivia Rodrigo, Raye and Rod Stewart head onto the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury this year, one photographer will have the perfect place to capture that Jackson from Bridgend has a small studio set up right next to the a photographer who loves music, it's his dream job."I'm photographing people I had posters of on my wall. It's a massive privilege," he said. Tom is never sure if the stars will agree to have their picture taken. They are told about his studio and asked to have a photo for the Glastonbury archive. Tom says the process is quite "organic", with some stars agreeing, others not, and some changing their minds at the last minute. So he has to be ready, set to take the shot at a moment's notice if the opportunity comes. "It's an electric place, it's nuts, everyone is on high tempo, the management, the artists."They come out of the VIP area, walk to me, have their picture taken, and the stairs are next to me going up to the stage."He remembered seizing the chance to capture one of his music heroes, when Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters came in. "They came off stage quite suddenly so there was no management waiting, and I said 'Dave do you want to do it now?' "And he said 'boys, do you want to have a sweaty band picture' and they went 'Yeah'." "Dave Grohl was the drummer of Nirvana, one of my favourite bands, I've got their album on the wall there. It's mental."Raye was also "cool" although she had Louis Theroux and a documentary team in tow, which Tom said was a bit out of his comfort zone."They filmed the whole thing, then Raye came over and she was chatting to me, so the cameras came in again. "She was lovely, loved her pictures and posted them straight away. "The thing about Glasto is that it's such a big thing for the artists too, so to enjoy that moment with them is quite nice." So how do you bag a dream job? Tom's break came when he was photographing Emily Eavis at Glastonbury, the daughter of Michael Eavis who started the festival, for The Times Magazine. After the shoot, Tom decided to take a chance and send an email."I was quite frank and said, 'If you ever need anyone to do portraits on the Pyramid Stage, I'd just love to help'."In about half an hour, I got an email back saying 'We'd love you to'. "Then the first year it was crazy. "I photographed Kylie Minogue, The Killers, The Cure, Miley Cyrus, Lauren Hill, in three days."But then, he was no stranger to photographing celebrities. His work at The Times magazine led to him capturing all kinds of well known personalities, from a Spice Girl to Sir David Attenborough. Tom remembered out of everyone he's photographed, it was Sir David, who made him feel the most star-struck. "When you're looking through a lens and you see that man... it's mad. He has to be one of my favourites."Tom had 40 minutes to get that shot in Sir David's home. That's a luxury compared to some of the other stars he's said his time with England and Arsenal footballer Bukayo Saka was cut heavily, and he ended up doing the entire shoot in just seven of Tom's favourite photos he's taken is of Lenny Kravitz. The shoot took place in a Paris hotel overlooking the Eiffel Tour, and the rock star was up for playing the part."He had this huge leather case and I thought it's a guitar. He said 'look at this, man' and he opened it up and it was full of god knows how many vintage sunglasses. But he was game. I said do you mind sitting in the bath and he said 'Yeah, get me some champagne'."Tom has done the press photography in recent years for the Christmas special of Gavin and Stacey and also the Finale. He captured actors James Corden and Matthew Horne, Smithy and Gavin. "I was photographing them as characters but then they just started having a laugh and fooling around and I just got a nice picture of them both."His shot of Jarvis Cocker, lead singer of Pulp, was taken in the rehearsal room for the bands' current tour."He helped edit them and it was cool." "I was stood in a Camden studio watching them rehearse and it was like a live private gig with Pulp."Key to a good shoot for Tom is to be prepared, to be set up and ready to go, play some music to help relax people and ensure that everyone feels comfortable. That way Tom feels he'll get the best portrait."I like faces, character in faces. I want to capture 'them', the person."And now that most of us carry good quality cameras in our pockets, built into our phones, what's Tom's top tip for taking a good picture?"Use the flash. Every time."

Love Island villa is rocked by shock double dumping as two 'cheaters' are AXED in savage public vote after night of explosive rows

Love Island stars Megan and Remell were dumped from the villa during Friday's episode after the public voted for their favourite boy and girl. After a night of explosive rows, the islanders were stunned into silence after newbie Georgio received a text telling them to gather round the fire pit to hear the results of the vote. In an announcement which sent shockwaves around the villa, it was revealed that one boy and one girl would be leaving the villa that night - and the decision was solely down to the public. Alima received a text saying Remell, Ben and Harry were the boys with the fewest votes and left vulnerable, before another revealed Remell had been dumped. But the Islanders were left lost for words when another text came in, saying that OG Megan was the girl being sent home. Megan has been at the centre of villa drama over the last week, after kissing Connor while coupled up with Tommy while Emily was away at a Sleepover. Reading out a text after arriving at the fire pit, Shakira said: 'Islanders the public have been voting for their favourite girl and favourite boy. 'Those with the least votes will be at risk of being dumped from the island tonight. As Georgio is the newest boy he is immune from the vote.' Alima revealed the three at risk boys were Ben, Remell and Harry. Next Dejon read out that Toni, Shakira and Megan were the vulnerable girls. All vulnerable islanders were then asked to stand in front of the fire pit and it was revealed the public vote would decide which boy and girl are dumped. The islanders were left stunned when it was announced that Megan and Remell had been dumped. The camera cut to Connor, who has been getting to know Megan and looked utterly shocked at her dumping. Elsewhere in Friday's episode saw Harrison and Helena headed to the Hideaway and shared snog - but it immediately backfired with an explosive row. The ITV2 dating show, presented by Maya Jama, has already seen plenty of arguments and antics in the villa in Mallorca since its launch earlier this month. And the recent scenes were no different, as Helena and Harrison's heads started to turn from their current partners - to his partner Toni's fury. Helena had only just come back from The Sleepover villa, where she recoupled with bombshell Giorgio, leaving her partner Shea dumped from the island. And in Thursday's episode, Harrison went on a wholesome strawberry-picking date with partner Toni, during which both seemed delighted about how things were going. She got a text reading: 'It's time for you and Harrison to head out for a date. Please get ready to leave the villa. #RipeForThePicking #Juicy.' After the date, Harrison was feeding berries to her as he said: 'I always say I like a fiery, direct girl and you tick both those boxes for sure.' Toni replied: 'I'm happy with you so far. I like that we don't compare ourselves to anyone in the villa… Things are going well between us.' But just a day later, in Friday's episode, things got flirty between Harrison and Helena, as she tells him where her head is at with Giorgio. As they chatted on the hammock, she said: 'He's not my type… he's just very serious all the time.' Harrison asked: 'You don't want to rip his clothes off him?', and she replies: 'Not at all.' He then cheekily ventured: 'Do you feel like that with me?' His partner Toni watched on from the Snug with Emily and Shakira, who said: 'She's what he'd go for in the outside world.' Toni warned: 'Don't put demons in my head.' Shakira continued: 'I just don't want you to look like a mug… I see that he's still invested in other people and I don't want you to be all in for him.' After calling things off with Giorgio - the brother of footballer Alessio Russo - Helena headed to the Hideaway terrace with Harrison later that evening, as Toni watches. There, he told her: 'We could be in trouble after tonight.' Helena replied: 'It's the risk you've got to take sometimes.' He asked: 'Are you willing to take that risk though?', to which newly-unattached Helena said: 'I've got nothing to lose.' The pair then shared multiple kisses on the Hideaway terrace chair. They soon returned to the garden where the other Islanders are awaiting their return with anticipation - not least Toni. An argument soon began, as she said angrily to Harrison: 'We just went on a f***ing date yesterday and you're already going to the hideaway with another girl and kissing her.' Shakira soon gave him a piece of her mind too: 'I don't know what planet you're on, you've obviously upset the girl, you know what reaction it was going to have …' Harrison responded: 'I went to the Hideaway… it's not that deep. I was thinking in the moment.' She fired back: 'You weren't thinking at all, Harrison.' Helena's part in it is confusing too - at The Sleepover villa, she admitted to Emily that despite recoupling with Giorgio, she was still pining for former flame Harry.

TV host Holly Willoughby is latest celebrity to take helicopter to 'green' Glastonbury as locals complain it's 'antisocial' and 'against the spirit' of the festival

She has been dubbed the Queen of Glastonbury Festival, having partied there every summer for a decade. And in true royal fashion, Holly Willoughby touched down on the Worthy Farm site by helicopter yesterday to join more than 200,000 music fans. But residents of neighbouring Pilton in Somerset are furious at the number of choppers ferrying A-listers over their farms, as one told the Mail: 'We've never seen this many coming into the festival – it's insane. 'On Thursday there was a cluster of five, one after the other. 'It's getting ridiculous now and quite frankly the organisers need to get a handle on it – it's so anti-social and not in the spirit of Glasto.' Setting off from London's Battersea heliport yesterday, the 44-year-old flew for 50 minutes and was at the festival by 1.30pm. Helicopter firm Air Charter – which sells return tickets for £13,950 – reckons it saves its celebrity customers up to eight hours per journey compared with driving. Beaming in the festival's VIP section, the former This Morning host sported a £365 pair of tan Grenson boots from her own line and a £158 blouse from Free People over a white dress and belt, with a Stetson hat. Ms Willoughby has previously stayed at the five-star Babington House hotel while attending the event, which is a half-hour drive from the site, and gets a taxi in each day. Meanwhile, nearby luxury campsite Camp Kerala, which costs £8,000 for five days, shared a picture on social media showing a line of helicopters and Rolls-Royces awaiting VIPs. With ticket prices at a minimum of £385, the 45-year-old festival has faced growing criticism that it has abandoned its hedonistic roots, and this year was dubbed 'Butlin's for the British middle class'. The Mail approached festival bosses for a comment. Other celebs spotted at the event so far include Barbie star Margot Robbie, 34, with her producer husband Tom Ackerley, eight months after giving birth to their first child. Yesterday, moustachioed Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch, 48, read out letters from around the world in the Greenpeace area in a feature called 'Letters Live'. Meanwhile, thousands of unsuspecting fans were treated to surprise performances from Lewis Capaldi and Lorde yesterday. Capaldi choked back tears as he declared 'I'm back baby' during an emotional return to Glastonbury's iconic Pyramid Stage. The Scottish singer, 28, was greeted by cheers, two years after his Tourette's condition left him unable to finish his set and led to a career hiatus. He told the crowd: 'Two years ago I wasn't sure if I'd ever do this again, but I'm back baby!' And Lorde, also 28, sent fans into a frenzy with a surprise slot on the Woodsies stage, which saw her whip off her top in temperatures of 27C (81F).
