Iowa women's basketball to face powerhouse in 2025 Champions Classic
Women's college basketball fans can't get enough of the Iowa Hawkeyes. They are one of the best draws in the sport, both for ticket sales and for television ratings. That combination has landed the Hawkeyes in yet another headliner for the 2025 college basketball season.
Iowa will get an early season test in 2025 as they are going to be part of a loaded field of powerhouse programs in the Shark Beauty Women's Champions Classic.
The Hawkeyes will be participating alongside some of the best programs in women's basketball. The four participating programs include Iowa, the UConn Huskies, the Tennessee Volunteers, and the Louisville Cardinals.

The event is set to take place on FOX from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on December 20th. Iowa will get their shot at the UConn Huskies in a game that will feature two of the most rabid women's college basketball fanbases in the nation.

The Tigers took the first matchup between the pair in the regular season. The Razorbacks have yet to lose a game in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. They defeated Creighton twice and North Dakota State in the regional along with a two-game sweep of Tennessee in the Fayetteville Super Regional. All but one game was decided by four or more runs. LSU made things interesting in the Baton Rouge regional, needing a championship game-win over Little Rock to get through to super regional. The regular season series in early May between LSU and Arkansas gave fans a bit of everything, from extra innings to a mercy rule. In the bottom of the tenth inning, Ethan Frey's sacrifice fly allowed Jared Jones to score from third base, sealing the 5-4 victory. LSU cemented the series win in seven innings on Saturday. In the 13-3 win, the Tigers clubbed four homers. Jake Brown went yard twice with five RBI while Frey batted in four runs on two hits. Anthony Eyanson picked up the win, hurling six scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts. Arkansas salvaged the series finale with a 7-4 win on Sunday. Three Razorbacks finished with two hits while their bullpen held off the LSU offense. Casan Evans, one of eight Tigers pitchers to see action, took the loss as he allowed four runs on seven hits over 3.2 innings.

One woman had 'the most wonderful flight home' from Denver, Colorado, thanks to her seat companion: NFL rookie Travis Hunter. Sandy Hawkins Combs shared in a Facebook post May 10 that she met 'the nicest young man' sitting beside her on a plane. Advertisement 'He offered to put my bag in the overhead compartment and helped me with my tray. He was always polite, saying 'yes ma'am' or 'no ma'am,'' she recalled in the post. 'Anyone would be proud to have him as a son or grandson — so polite.' People then began walking by their seats and congratulating the man, according to Combs, who had no clue whom she was seated beside. 'I turned and asked him, 'Who am I sitting next to?'
