Roger Federer's Long-Term Deals Make Him a Tennis Billionaire
Tennis superstar Roger Federer is now one of the few athletes who can now count themselves a billionaire.
Federer, who won 20 Grand Slams between 2003 and 2018, amassed $130.6 million in prize money during a 24-year playing career that ended in 2022. But the bulk of the Swiss star's wealth has come via a series of bumper sponsorship deals, alongside an astute investment in a local sneaker brand.

Vinicius Jr. addresses Real Madrid contract renewal – ‘Want to make history with the team'
Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr. was the star of the show in his team's 3-0 win over RB Salzburg. The Brazilian forward scored one goal, set up another, and was deservedly named man of the match. After the final whistle, Vinicius shared his thoughts on the game and, more importantly, spoke openly about his future at Real Madrid. Advertisement 'I hope I can stay here for many years,' Vinicius said with a smile. 'I've always said this is the club of my life. I'm very happy with the coach and everyone on the staff, and I hope I can keep playing here.' His words made it clear he has no intention of leaving any time soon, despite the many rumours that have surrounded him over the past year. Contract extension close When asked about his contract situation, Vinicius confirmed, 'I have a two-year contract left… until 2027,' and stressed again, 'I've always said I want to stay here my entire career and make a great history with this team.' His commitment should put fans at ease after last year's reports of a massive offer from Saudi Arabia, which reached an astonishing €1 billion for five seasons. While that proposal ultimately led nowhere, Saudi clubs are still keeping an eye on the Brazilian star. Vinicius Jr. put on a Man of the Match performance against Salzburg. (Photo by) Advertisement As things stand, a new contract between Real Madrid and Vinicius is almost complete, with only a few minor details to sort out before it becomes official. About the match Meanwhile, talking about the match, the Real Madrid forward seemed extremely satisfied, especially after the criticism he has faced in recent weeks. 'The match left us feeling good. We played very well in the first half, but the second half was a little weaker, but that's normal. We had to pace ourselves for the next round of 16 match, where we can't afford to let ourselves slip.' Furthermore, the Brazil forward also spoke about Xabi Alonso's demands of high press, stating, Advertisement 'It's normal. In today's football, we have to attack with 11 and defend with 11. 'I like to play inside, closer to the goal and provide assists. It's a very similar position to the year of the last Champions League. We're very compact. Understand,' he concluded.

Club president urges Man Utd to sign 8-goal EPL striker: 'Gyokeres would struggle'
Manchester United have been told to forget about Viktor Gyokeres and turn their attention towards Everton striker Beto. The Red Devils were abysmal in front of goal in the 2024/25 season, as depicted by Rasmus Hojlund's four-goal tally in the Premier League. Advertisement Therefore, the club has been working on a major attacking overhaul this summer. They have already booked Matheus Cunha, while Bryan Bentford is expected to follow suit, especially following reports of an agreement between MUFC and Brentford. Nevertheless, INEOS are still determined to add an out-and-out striker to their ranks, but they haven't been able to find a breakthrough on any track, despite being linked to a plethora of possible candidates. Man United told they have a better option than Viktor Gyokeres (Photo by) While many thought that a reunion between Gyokeres and Ruben Amorim could be on the cards, this has proven to be a complicated deal, especially with Arsenal seemingly ahead in the race. Advertisement However, the president of Portuguese club Uniao Tires, Fernando Lopes, believes Man Utd are better off without the Sweden international, urging them to sign his old pupil Beto. The 27-year-old is a youth product of Tires who went on to make a name for himself in Serie A during his time at Udinese, earning a £20 move to Everton in the summer of 2023. 'Everyone thought Amorim would sign Gyokeres as he had him at Sporting, but the Premier League is completely different to Portugal,' said Lopes in his interview with The Sun (via the Manchester Evening News). 'Teams are more physical and compact at the back, it's quicker and more competitive. Gyokeres would struggle to play as the lone No. 9 waiting for service. Beto's a more physical player, who fights with defenders and doesn't lose duels. He's a real headache for opponents – if he gets the service.' Would Beto be the answer for Ruben Amorim and Man United? This is certainly a bold claim considering the vastly contrasting figures recorded by Gyokeres and Beto over the past couple of seasons, as the latter only scored eight goals in the Premier League this season, and 12 in all competitions. Advertisement Nevertheless, Lopes insists that the Portuguese bomber is exactly what Amorim and United need at the moment. 'In their golden era, United always scored a lot of goals from set-pieces, but haven't had a proper striker for many seasons. Nowadays, teams have small, quick strikers or a false forward because there's an obsession for possession of the ball. 'Beto represents the typical old style, because of his physique, power and work-rate, plus he's very fast. He'd be like Amorim's ace up his sleeve in a game of poker.'

(AP Photo/Darko Bandic) SPIELBERG, Austria (AP) — Alex Dunne stepped into the cockpit of Lando Norris' McLaren as an up-and-coming driver without Formula 1 experience. He left it with proof he can keep up with the very best in F1. The 19-year-old driver from Ireland took over Norris' car for the first practice Friday ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix and was soon close to matching the pace of championship leader Oscar Piastri in the other McLaren. Advertisement 'This is definitely the best day of my life, so thank you everyone,' Dunne told the McLaren team over the radio. Dunne set the fourth-fastest time of anyone in the session, 0.224 of a second off George Russell's quickest lap, and was especially quick in the Austrian track's fastest corners. Dunne was .159 off the pace of defending champion Max Verstappen, .069 off Piastri, and .333 quicker than seven-time champ Lewis Hamilton. The 19-year-old Dunne has risen fast through the junior series and is the standings leader in Formula 2. Dunne became the first Irish driver to take part in a Grand Prix weekend for 22 years, since Ralph Firman raced one season for Jordan in 2003. Advertisement F1 teams are required to give young drivers an opportunity in four Friday practice sessions per year, but they usually need more time to adapt than Dunne did. Another F2 driver was behind the wheel Friday as Ferrari handed Charles Leclerc's car to Sweden's Dino Beganovic, who placed 18th. ___ AP auto racing:
