Minnesota cat earns Guinness World Record for longest tail
Mr. Pugsley Addams, a feisty feline from Mound, Minnesota has clinched a Guinness World Record for having the longest tail on a living, domestic cat, measuring in at a whopping 18.5 inches.
Two-year-old Pugsley—named after the Addams Family character—is a Maine Coon, the largest domestic cat breed. Though not fully grown, his owner, Amanda, always knew his tail was longer than usual.
"The first time I took him to the vet, he walked in and said, 'That is a really long tail.' And I looked at it, really looked at it, and thought, 'Yeah…it kind of is, isn't it?," she said during an interview with the Guinness World Records.
Maine Coons reach their full size around age 4 to 5, fully filling out with a thick fur coat, giant fluffy tail and large paws.
Amanda says Pugsley shares his iconic surname with his older brother Gomez Addams, a black Maine Coon.
She says they're aptly named, as "Gomez is violently affectionate and romantic," wanting "nothing more than to cuddle in the nook of your arm and stare deep into your eyes while he drags his claws down your cheek."
She describes Pugsley as "incredibly curious, adventurous and smart," adding, "he is definitely the biggest troublemaker of the house and very creative when it comes to new ways he can be mischievous."

If you've seen the last seven Mission: Impossible movies, you'll know there's always a plane and Tom doing something really scary involved. In a behind-the-scenes video, Tom leaped to his likely death while the parachute caught fire 16 times, and each time he tried was more terrifying than the first. Right, Tom. Right. They're dropping this man a minimum of 7,500 feet in the air with a parachute on fire. They soaked the parachute in gas so his life net would catch fire when they ignited it in the air, while 62-year-old Tom Cruise is dangling on the other end, trying to deploy his backup chute. He can't be serious. This is wild. Sir. Tom, you have a problem. For performing this stunt 16 times, Tom was awarded the title for most burning parachute jumps by an individual. "Tom doesn't just play action heroes – he is an action hero!" Craig Glenday, Editor-in-Chief of Guinness World Records, said. "A large part of his success can be chalked up to his absolute focus on authenticity and pushing the boundaries of what a leading man can do. It's an honour to be able to recognize his utter fearlessness with this new Guinness World Records title." It's not Tom's first world record. He actually holds the record for actor with "the most consecutive $100-million-grossing movies for his 11 films between Jack Reacher (2012) and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning (2025). "Tom is no stranger to record breaking," Craig said. "Over his impressively long and consistent career, he's proved himself to be the most powerful actor in Hollywood and the most bankable star, and he's still the actor with the most consecutive $100 million movies on their resume and the most successful leading action hero at the worldwide box office." The British institution announced Thursday that Cruise now holds the title for 'most burning parachute jumps by an individual' for leaping out of a helicopter 16 times before lighting his chute on fire in the latest franchise installment, 'The Final Reckoning.' The result onscreen shows Cruise's character, Ethan Hunt, forced to cut the burning nylon tatters free to deploy a reserve chute at the last second. The stunt was shot with a chute that was soaked in fuel to light on fire. Over the course of his films, Cruise has run along the exterior of the 163-floor Burj Khalifa in Dubai ('Ghost Protocol'), harnessed himself to an airplane during takeoff ('Rogue Nation') and base-jumped into a canyon after riding off of a cliff ('Dead Reckoning'). Cruise does indeed hold another Guinness title for 'most consecutive $100-million-grossing movies' for an actor, for the 11 films between 'Jack Reacher' (2012) and 'Final Reckoning.'
