Rio Ferdinand QUITS TNT Sports: Man United legend announces exit
Rio Ferdinand has left TNT Sport following more than a decade with the broadcaster.
Mail Sport revealed in March the former England and Manchester United captain was set to quit at the end of the season in a major blow for the station.
Insiders at TNT have insisted that the decision was 'an amicable parting of the ways' but it is understood that Ferdinand was the driving force behind the move.
The 46-year-old has a growing portfolio of business interests, along with a young family, and recently his management company New Era signed a partnership with Beverly Hills-based talent agency giants WME.
Ferdinand, who has a following of more than 30m across various platforms, was offered a new contract by TNT some months ago, but it went unsigned, much to the dismay of bosses. The door remains open, and he may return for certain elements of coverage next season.
In a statement released at noon today, Ferdinand said: 'I have made the difficult decision to step away from TNT sports after the Champions League final.

'Since retiring from football it has been a privilege talking about the game I love for a decade for sports fans watching on BT Sport and TNT Sports.
'I want to acknowledge the tremendous support from the team behind the scenes whose hard work often goes unseen but has been essential to our success.
'To everyone at TNT Sports, we have a brilliant end to the season to look forward to on Saturday and for now all focus will be on what I think could go down as one of the great European finals.
'The network continues to thrive with more rights than ever. I know I look forward to following its progress and the exciting future that lies ahead.

A switch in focus to the US would make sense. With the World Cup taking place across the Atlantic next year, WME are focussing on securing opportunities in the US for Ferdinand both on and off the screen. They currently represent the likes of Ryan Reynolds, Jessica Alba and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
'I'm excited about what the future holds, spending more time with my family focusing on Rio Ferdinand Presents and my other business interests,' he added. 'I hope to stay connected with all of you in different capacities. Thank you once again for everything.'
He is reportedly planning to move to Dubai with his wife Kate Ferdinand. They share kids Cree and Shae, while Kate is also stepmother to Lorenz, 18, Tate, 16, and Tia, 13, from Rio's marriage to late wife Rebecca Ellison.
According to the Sun, Ferdinand and Kate are 'seriously considering' relocating with their children and have already started looking at swanky properties and schools.
The couple would base themsleves in The Gulf and travel back to the UK for work, giving Rio opportunity to boost his business portfolio aboard.

A source told the publication: 'Rio and Kate are seriously considering being based out in the Gulf and are looking for a sprawling home with plenty of bedrooms.
'They love the lifestyle and sunny weather and have lots of friends out there. It's a very safe place for families and offers a healthy lifestyle, which suits them well.'
'It holds a special place in their hearts as that's where they met and both could easily travel back and forth for their work commitments in the UK'.

Rio and Kate, who wed in 2019, met back in 2016 through mutual friends while they were both on holiday in Dubai.
Kate marked eight years since she met her husband as she shared a heartwarming throwback snap of the couple together in December.
The couple were back in the UAE to ring in 2025 with Kate sharing a cosy snap of the them enjoying a night out.
Alongside the post, she wrote: 'Rio and I met eight years ago yesterday.

He made his debut for seventh-tier-side Havant and Waterlooville and secured a 3-1 win, after joining on work experience.
His Manchester United star father was in attendance for the match at the Alfred Davis Memorial Ground in Marlow, alongside Kate.

LONDON, June 2 (Reuters) - The downturn in British manufacturing was less steep than first feared in May but output, orders and jobs continued to drop as companies cited recent tax hikes and U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs, a survey showed on Monday. The final reading of the S&P Global UK manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), a measure of activity among factories, was 46.4 in May compared to 45.4 in April. It was the highest since February but remained below the 50 threshold for growth. The provisional PMI figure for May was 45.1. While the rates of contraction across new orders, output and exports eased, survey compiler S&P Global said the environment for manufacturers was still tough. "May PMI data indicate that UK manufacturing faces major challenges, including turbulent market conditions, trade uncertainties, low client confidence and rising tax-related wage costs," Rob Dobson, director at S&P Global Market Intelligence, said. May's decline in output was linked to a reduced intake of new business as demand from domestic and overseas fell. The fall in exports orders was mainly linked to weaker demand from the U.S. and Europe. The survey showed 49% of manufacturers expected to see output increase over the coming year, slightly above 44% in April. Manufacturing firms cut employment at the fastest pace in three months in response to uncertain economic outlook - plus a rise in employers' social security contributions and 6.7% increase in the minimum wage that came into force in April. But there were signs that the worst of the inflation surge may have passed, S&P said, as the pace of increases in input costs and selling prices slowed.

"Ending this season with the Europa League Trophy was a dream come true. "The time is now right for me to gather more time for myself and my family, whom I thank for all their support over the years. "I shall spend the coming months ensuring there is a smooth handover with my staff. Thank you all. I wish everyone at the Club all the success in the world." Meanwhile, Levy said: "Donna has made an immense contribution to the Club, over an extensive period. Her diverse responsibilities grew significantly and replacing her roles with a single individual will be impossible. "While many may associate her primarily with marketing and communications, Donna's impact extends far beyond those areas. A SAVVY mum-of-two has revealed how she saves thousands of pounds without ditching days out or summer holidays. Natalie Smith, from Dymchurch, Kent, insists that there are plenty of ways to plan fun activities for your family without breaking the bank. 3 3 3 She says plenty of organisations offer free entry for kids at their locations and events, but simply don't advertise it - meaning you just have to know where to look. And when it comes to finding holidays on a budget, the savvy mum has a few tricks up her sleeve. When it comes to holidays, Natalie, a full-time blogger, claims that planning is key - particularly for things like checking whether hotels or resorts offer any activities or other perks included in the price. She also says you have to be flexible - potentially planning trips around the cheapest flight dates - or consider alternative options, such as driving to various countries in Europe. And, Natalie is certain her tips work - as she and her husband Jason have been using them for years to take their kids Finn, 14, and Lola, 12, on countless memorable trips. Natalie, 35, said: "We started living like this because we had such a small income when the kids were younger that we knew if we wanted to take them on holidays and trips, we'd have to change things. "Things are easier now, but it becomes a way of life so we're still budgeters. It's what suits our values. "We'd rather do lots of things than have lots of things - so we scrimp in some places to make sure we can travel and have amazing experiences." "Those badges are worth their weight in gold. "Another tip would be to use your Tesco Clubcard points. You don't have to just use them in the shop - you can also put them towards events and days out. Just check the app. "I'd also suggest making use of your surroundings. If you're in a city - or if you want to take a day trip to a city - a lot of stuff is free, like museums, parks, or lidos for the summer. "Take a picnic and that's still a no-spend day out. Where can kids eat for free this summer? THE summer holidays are here, but entertaining the kids need not cost a fortune. Here, we reveal where you can get free and cheap meals for your little ones during the 'endless' summer holidays. ASDA CAFE: Nip into an Asda cafe to feed the kids after the weekly shop. Under-16s get a hot or cold meal for £1 at any time of day. Little ones are covered, too. Kids under 18 months get a free Ella's baby food pouch with any purchase. "Also try to pick a destination that offers free things to do - included in your accommodation cost. "So, there are lots of places where you can do water sports for free - or which include passes to local theme parks etc. "We went to a resort in the Netherlands once which offered free access to attractions nearby - and had a safari park onsite. "So that gave us things to do without having to spend while we were out there. "So I'd say looking at those things and almost planning out your itinerary in advance can save you a fortune once you're out there." When it comes to travel, Natalie has some top tips for finding cheap flights - but also encourages families to consider driving if they're holidaying in Europe. She said: "When it comes to flights, Skyscanner is your best friend. If we have a specific destination in mind, then we'll be flexible with dates - and maybe plan the whole trip around which day the flight is cheapest. "If we don't mind where we go, we'll search for the cheapest flights to 'everywhere', and plan around that. "Otherwise though, we tend to drive as much as possible - because of how cheap ferries are. "We've driven to France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and more - and the driving becomes part of the fun. "Recently we did a trip driving around Germany, Austria, and Italy, and spent around four days in each spot we stopped at - camping at local camp sites. "We planned activities for each place and it meant every moment was great. "One day, we were walking up mountains in Austria and the next we were at the canals in Venice, Italy. "And I just think sometimes you can spend a whole day trying to get a flight - when you consider driving to the airport, going through security, waiting to board, getting the flight, then getting your hire car on the other side. "So it's something to consider." Saving Up Natalie says that she and her family also look for ways they can cut back on spending throughout the year - so they can put money aside for their holidays. This includes batch cooking to save on groceries, always taking flasks out to avoid buying coffee, and even having dad Jason learn to cut son Finn's hair so they don't have any barber fees. Natalie said: "We batch cook a lot and always meal prep so we know what we need and what we're using for the week. "I also take a flask everywhere so I don't buy coffee - and just switch small things like cycling instead of taking the bus for any journeys I can. "We've learnt to do what we can for ourselves. We clean our own windows and Jason used a YouTube video to learn how to cut our son's hair. "I just think it's all about making small changes. Obviously, money is extremely tight for a lot of people. We've been there so we know. "But I do think just trying to save where you can - it can make life more affordable. "If you don't buy a coffee or lunch out - then you could save £5 a day. £5 a day adds up to £1,825 a year. "That's a great budget for a family holiday."
