Woman & two daughters jump into tank, die in Karnataka

Chikkaballapur: In a tragic incident near Chikkaballapur, a woman and her two young daughters died by suicide after jumping into Rangadhama tank late Thursday evening. The deceased are Lavanya, 30, and her daughters Niharika, 10, and Neha, 6, residents of Bodhagaanahalli in Chikkaballapur taluk.
According to police sources, Lavanya, her husband Jayanna and their children visited a school earlier in the day to discuss admission for the two girls. After speaking with school authorities, the family returned home. Later, Jayanna left for farming in their field, while Lavanya stayed back with the children.
Jayanna is said to have tried to contact Lavanya that afternoon but received no response. When he returned home in the evening and found the house empty, he initially assumed they had gone out for errands.
But as night fell and there was still no sign of them, he began searching in the village with the help of neighbours.
The following morning, just as Jayanna was preparing to file a missing-person complaint, villagers spotted their bodies floating in Rangadhama tank.
Villagers said they were no aware of any major differences between Lavanya and Jayanna. However, a minor argument is said to have happened Thursday over their financial struggles, particularly the challenge of paying school fees for their daughters.
Police suspect Lavanya may have taken the extreme step following this argument, allegedly pushing the children into the tank before ending her own life.
