Ryan Ledson on Hibs transfer radar as Black Knights flag up Preston star as summer target
The midfielder is set to become a free agent at the end of June and has plenty suitors
Euro-bound Hibs are amongst a number of clubs who are interested in Ryan Ledson.
The midfielder is set to leave Preston North End this summer.
The 27-year-old has been flagged by the Black Knights, who own a stake in the Easter Road club.
Ledson has interest from his former club, Oxford United, Bolton, Huddersfield and Plymouth.
The former Everton youngster is currently weighing up his next move.
Hibs have declared an interest and hope the lure of playing in European football next season could also help their cause.
Ledson has spent the last seven years at Preston and will exit Deepdale when his contract expires next month.
Hibs sealed third spot against St Mirren on Wednesday night and it could guarantee European group stage football, providing Aberdeen don't win the Scottish Cup.
Sporting director Malky Mackay is already looking to add to their squad for next season.
Eupen winger Regan Charles-Cook, Legia Warsaw frontman Migouel Alfarela and Hartberg keeper Raphael Sallinger are all amongst their summer options.
Walsall defender Oisin McEntee is another they have looked into.

‘It was carnage' – I slept in a SKIP the night I made Scottish Cup history with Hibs against Rangers
MADCAP footballer Jason Cummings has told how he slept in a skip the night Hibs won the Scottish Cup for the first time in over a century. Cummings, 29, was part of the Hibs team that defeated Rangers 3-2 at Hampden Park on Saturday 21 May 2016. 3 3 Victory ended a 114 year Scottish Cup hoodoo for the Edinburgh club and sparked unprecedented celebrations among their fans. The following day the team took part in an open top bus victory parade through the capital to their home in Leith. Cummings told the Open Goal podcast: "That group of boys was class. It was carnage. We were right on the bevvies and then we went out on a three or four day bender. "That's the best, after it when you're celebrating in the changing room. The parade was unbelievable as well after that -- just seeing the people, it was like 200-plus-thousand, it was unbelievable. "The night before that parade I woke up in a skip. I was out all night and I swear, see one of those nights where you're out on it non-stop and I mind walking past this skip. "And mate, I'm f****** shattered and I just jumped in there and fell asleep. "The sun woke me up and 'you've got the parade today'. I had to jump out the skip like that and get the suit on, straight back out. I loved it. "It (the parade day) was class. People greeting their eyes out, like 'never seen it in my life', 'you've made my life', 'you'll never need to buy a drink again'. "We were just heros. It was class. Really good." Cummings, who grew up a Hearts fan, became a hero at Hibs. He left the club for Nottingham Forest the following year and was sent out on three loan moves including a spell at Rangers. He also played for Dundee before a life-changing move to Australia. He currently stars for Indian Super League champions Mohun Bagan, based in Kolkata. The striker, who also plays for the Australian national team despite representing Scotland in a friendly, said he's loving life in India. He said: "I love it. It's a different world out there but football-wise it's a different class. "We get 60,000 or 70,000 every game, and the fans just love football. "When I first went I thought obviously cricket is massive there but we're in Kolkata and they just all love football... (I'm the) main man, bigger than the Beatles over there. Can't move walking down the streets." He added: "It's chaos, with the fans. As soon as we leave (the hotel) -- the stadium is right over the road -- it should be a five minute drive but it takes us an hour to get there. "There's flares -- I saw a ten year old on a horse with a flare going to the game." Despite a reputation for his exuberant behaviour, he said he enjoys quieter pursuits in India. 3 He said: "Lifestyle-wise there's not much to do. We'll go out for a wee game of golf with the boys but I play a bit of chess. I'm good at the chess, I love it. "There's so much time over there. When we go back after training we're just in the hotel so it's the same food, everyone is in there, the manager is in there as well, and all the coaches. "There's a tennis court there... a bit of poker. We go out and about but as soon as you go out and about you just get crowded, like proper. "Because there's not many tourists you stick out like a sore thumb. They see me, blond hair and all that, they're just on you for photos, photos, photos. "When my mum came over, she was like Joanna Lumley over there. She was getting surrounded, non-stop, you can't go anywhere. "It's a city of joy, Kolkata, but just so many people. "The maddest thing I've seen, just everyday... cows just going up the street, goats, stray dogs running on the training pitch and that." But he said India offered him something he wouldn't find anywhere else. He added: "It just came about, they were interested and they were proper wanting me. "I looked into it a wee bit and, I don't know, the fanbase and all that. "I saw the games and 60,000 or 70,000 I thought that's a bit me that. "I'll go over there and try it... just the atmosphere at the games, that they all love it over there, I just thought where else can you get that? "I wouldn't get that anywhere else."

Five youngsters hoping to make Aberdeen's European squad
Aberdeen look set to call on youth academy prospects to bolster their squad for the club's return to European action next season. The transfer window opens next week, but the Dons have already been busy by adding new players to their squad. Australian trio Kusini Yengi, Nick Suman and Nicolas Milanovic and German full-back Emmanuel Gyamfi are the latest additions to manager Jimmy Thelin's playing cohort as he strengthens for the Conference League play-off round on August 21 and 28. But, as it stands, Aberdeen will have to turn to their young prospects to bolster the ranks for European competition. Under Uefa competition rules, clubs are allowed to name a squad of 25 players for European competition. However, eight of the players must be deemed locally-trained. The criteria is split into two sub-categories: club-trained and association-trained, with clubs required to have four of each. Aberdeen have ONE club-trained player in Jack Milne and two association-trained players in captain Graeme Shinnie and vice-captain Nicky Devlin. Uefa rules dictate if a club have fewer than eight players in both sub-categories, the overall squad limit of 25 must be reduced accordingly. In the Dons' case that leaves manager Thelin only able to select 17 players from his squad of non-association trained players, which currently stands at 22. Aberdeen faced a similar issue two years ago and were only able to list a squad of 21 players for the Conference League. Jack MacKenzie was the only club-trained squad member, while Shinnie, Devlin and goalkeeper Ross Doohan met the association-trained criteria. As a result, Dutch Dons attacker Vicente Besuijen missed out on a place in the squad for the competition. Former Aberdeen boss Barry Robson was able to bolster his squad from his List B pool and included Connor Barron, Ryan Duncan and Tom Ritchie in his squad in 2023. Thelin will be looking to do the same from his available players next season. Duncan, who spent last season on loan at Queen's Park, still meets the criteria as he was born after January 1, 2004. Striker Fletcher Boyd, and goalkeeper Rodrigo Vitols will also be strong contenders to make the final squad for Europe. But there are five other young Dons who have returned to Pittodrie, having each gained significant senior experience in the last campaign, who will be hoping to catch the manager's eye. Leading the way is winger Adam Emslie, who has had a breakthrough season on loan at League One side Cove Rangers. The 19-year-old built on a productive spell with Formartine United in the Highland League in the 2023-24 campaign by playing 39 games for Paul Hartley's side, starting 35 of them. With 13 goals and seven assists to his name from his time at Balmoral Stadium, it is fair to say the winger's season across the city was a successful one. Emslie was not the only player to impress in the blue of Cove Rangers, however. Findlay Marshall also had an excellent campaign at Balmoral Stadium. The 19-year-old quickly cemented his place at Cove, starting 29 of 38 games for the club and scoring eight goals and creating four others in an impressive campaign. Attacking midfielder Dylan Lobban reinvented himself in a new role as an attacking full-back for Hartley's side, starting 28 of 33 games for Cove and contributing two goals and three assists. Also 19, his performances led to him being named development player of the year by his parent club in the annual Aberdeen FC end of season awards. Two other Dons players will be hoping their performances at loan clubs in the second half of the campaign have propelled them into the Reds first-team picture, too. Midfielder Alfie Stewart's January loan move to Caley Thistle was a success, with the 18-year-old midfielder scoring three goals and providing three assists after starting 13 of his 17 appearances for Scott Kellacher's side. Alfie Bavidge will also look back on his brief time at Caledonian Stadium with fond memories. The 19-year-old striker had a difficult first half of the campaign in the Championship with Ayr United. He scored two goals, in a 5-3 win against Falkirk, after making 15 appearances for the Honest Men, but only started three games. A January switch to the Highlands, where his dad Martin played as a youngster, proved a much more prolific environment, however. Bavidge started 10 games for Caley Jags, scoring six times in a hugely encouraging spell before a hamstring injury brought his campaign to a premature end.
