Carlos Sainz has escaped a penalty after his collision with Lewis Hamilton on the final lap of the 2025 Miami Grand Prix. Following an investigation after the race, the Williams driver was deemed to not be at fault with neither driver receiving any form of punishment.
In their official ruling, the stewards provided a detailed explanation for their decision not to penalize either driver for the clash on Turn 17.
"Car 55 attempted an overtake on the inside of Car 44 into Turn 17 and both cars made contact at the apex," the stewards stated in their assessment of the incident.
"The Stewards determine that both drivers contributed to the incident as Car 55 did not clearly get in a position to have the right to the racing line according to the Driving Standards Guidelines and at the same time Car 44 turned into the corner earlier than usual and therefore impacted the driver of Car 55 in his overtaking attempt.

Sainz maintains his P9 finish with the Ferrari driver finishing ahead of him. His teammate, Alex Albon, finished P5.
The race was a frustrating one for Hamilton as he battled against team orders. Struggling behind teammate Charles Leclerc, he eventually was told to overtake as his medium tires fried in the dirty air.
Eventually, after not catching Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli, Leclerc was allowed to pass him, swapping the drivers into their original positions.
"As per a rule within the team, we swapped back at the end," the Scuderia chief Fred Vasseur said following the race. "I think we let the chance for Lewis to go in front of Charles but it was impossible to overtake between them if we don't let them go.
"And I think it was the opportunity for Lewis to catch up [Kimi] Antonelli and I think we did a good job."

Thunder's Jalen Williams matches NBA legend Bill Walton for remarkable feat
Thunder's Jalen Williams matches NBA legend Bill Walton for remarkable feat originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area Oklahoma City Thunder star Jalen Williams made history by stepping onto the court in the NBA Finals on Thursday. Advertisement The league announced that the 24-year-old forward became the first player in his third season or earlier to be an All-Star, an All-NBA Team selection and an All-Defensive Team selection and to play in the NBA Finals in the same season since Hall of Famer Bill Walton in 1976-1977. Williams was in the starting lineup for Game 1 of the Finals against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday to complete what has been a breakout season for the No. 12 pick in the 2022 draft. He averaged 21.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists this season while earning his first All-Star selection. After the season he was named Third-Team All-NBA and All-Defensive Second Team, making both for the first time. Advertisement By taking the court in Game 1 of the Finals on Thursday against the Indiana Pacers, Williams completed an NBA accolade checklist that had not been done in nearly five decades. Walton, the No. 1 pick in the 1974 draft by the Portland Trail Blazers, finished his third season with averages of 18.6 points and a league-leading 14.4 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game. He finished second in MVP voting behind the Los Angeles Lakers' Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, but made Second-Team All-NBA and All-Defensive First-Team. Walton then led the Trail Blazers to their first and only NBA championship after defeating the Philadelphia 76ers in six games. Williams and the Thunder need four more victories to check off that final box, which would give Oklahoma City its first NBA championship, and be the franchise's first title since winning as the Seattle SuperSonics in 1979. Who is Jalen Williams? Williams is a forward for the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder. How old is Jalen Williams? Williams is 24-years-old. He was born on April 14, 2001. Where is Jalen Williams from? Williams was born in Denver, Colorado. He attended high school in Arizona. Where did Jalen Williams go to college? Williams played three seasons at Santa Clara in California. When was Jalen Williams drafted? Williams was the No. 12 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the Thunder.

Bears' Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson a bad fit, per former NFL GM
The post Bears' Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson a bad fit, per former NFL GM appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Chicago Bears have been in the same position for two consecutive years in the NFL offseason. A year ago they drafted quarterback Caleb Williams from USC with the No. 1 pick, and many observers said that move allowed the Bears to 'win' the offseason. Advertisement During the current offseason, the Bears signed former Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson to serve as the team's head coach. Johnson was considered the hottest coaching prospect in each of the last two years and he chose to go with the Bears. That signing gave many of the NFL's sharpest journalists and record-keepers to say that the Bears won the offseason once again. Gaining the bulk of the headlines when games are not being played did not help the Bears last year when the season got underway. Chicago suffered through a 10-game losing streak and the Bears finished in last place in the NFC North with a 5-12 record. Williams was sacked 68 times during his rookie season and he did not prove to be a savior for his team Former New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum does not think the combination of Williams and Johnson will lead to a turnaround in Chicago. Tannenbaum does not believe that Williams has the discipline needed to become a dominant quarterback in the NFL. The former NFL executive offered his opinion on ESPN's morning program. 'I am not (convinced about Williams in Chicago),' Tannenbaum said. 'I worked with Ben Johnson in Miami, the new head coach of the Bears. He is going to be a rule-based, disciplined play-caller and coach. When you have 68 sacks? Look, the Bears were not great in coaching, not great in personnel last year, but you have to bear some of that responsibility.' Competition for Bears is stiff in the NFC North Mandatory Credit: Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn Images Even if the marriage between Williams and Johnson turns out to be successful, that does not mean the Bears will turn around their fortunes and dominate in the NFC North. Advertisement This is the NFL's best division, and nobody knows that better than Johnson. The Lions are coming off a brilliant 15-2 regular season, and they earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC last year. If they had been healthier on defense, they would have had a much better chance to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl for the first time in team history. The Minnesota Vikings were right behind the Lions with a 14-3 record. Head coach Kevin O'Connell's team addressed weaknesses on the offensive line in the offseason, and they could have another excellent season if QB J.J. McCarthy is a good fit for the organization. The Green Bay Packers have made back-to-back playoff appearances with Jordan Love at quarterback. If the Bears can beat out one of those teams — let alone all three — the partnership of Johnson and Williams will appear to be successful.
