Police have stressed that such behaviour will "not be tolerated", as an investigation gets underway.
Six people have been rushed to hospital after they were attacked with a chemical at a McDonald's restaurant on Tuesday.
Emergency services were called to the fast food chain's branch in Waltham Abbey, Essex, at around 5.30pm on June 24, after the unknown substance was squirted at staff.

Initially they thought the liquid was water, but an ambulance was called after they suffered a reaction with their skin and eyes. The hazardous area response team was also in attendance.

Four suspects are said to have carried out the attack. A police probe is now underway following the incident, the Mirror reports.
Chief Inspector Terry Fisher from Essex Police said: "Luckily no-one was seriously injured, but this type of violent behaviour will not be tolerated in Essex.
"We will be carrying out test to understand exactly what type of liquid was used in this incident and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, has video footage or any other information to contact us immediately."

A spokesperson for the force added: "Officers have launched an investigation following an incident in Waltham Abbey yesterday evening (Tuesday 24 June) where liquid was sprayed at employees in a fast-food restaurant,"
"We were called to reports of a disturbance where four suspects had gone into McDonald's on the Highbridge Industrial Estate at just after 5.30pm and squirted a substance at a number of people.

"The victims initially thought the liquid was water, but their eyes and skin started stinging and they immediately called emergency services.'
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "Three ambulances, three hazardous area response team vehicles, a paramedic car and a rapid response vehicle were sent to Highbridge Street after reports of restaurant staff being assaulted with a chemical substance.
"Three patients were transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow and three to the North Middlesex University Hospital in Edmonton, north London."

Moment sword killer tasered by cops after attack that killed schoolboy and injured others

Dramatic police bodycam footage shows the terrifying moment Marcus Arduini Monzo was arrestedfollowing his horrifying attack. Dramatic police bodycam footage shows the terrifying moment a sword-wielding man was tasered and arrested after going on a bloody 20-minute rampage that left a 14-year-old schoolboy dead and several others seriously injured. Marcus Arduini Monzo, 37, was in the grip of a cannabis-induced psychosis when he brutally murdered Daniel Anjorin with a samurai sword in Hainault, north-east London. The schoolboy was walking to school in his PE kit when Monzo attacked him, nearly decapitating him in the street. ‌ Chilling details heard at the Old Bailey revealed how Monzo, a former Amazon delivery driver, screamed 'in delight' after killing Daniel. Witnesses described seeing him smiling and dropping to his knees after the attack, as if he were celebrating. ‌ The court was also told Monzo had killed, skinned, and de-boned his pet cat Wizard before launching his frenzied assault on the public on the morning of April 30 last year, reports the Mirror. Body-worn camera footage released today shows the chaos as officers raced to stop Monzo, who had already slashed and stabbed multiple victims. One video clip shows officers shouting 'Drop it now!' as they confront him in the street, brandishing a sword. In response, Monzo screams back, asking if there's 'anybody here who believes in God?' before taking off on foot. As police chased him through gardens and back streets, Monzo turned and lunged at one officer, stabbing him. The officer, who was wearing the bodycam, is heard shouting 'Officer stabbed!' as his colleague lies injured, groaning in pain. The wounded officer was later left with life-changing injuries. Monzo continued to evade police, climbing onto rooftops and running through people's gardens as officers warned residents to 'lock your doors.' Eventually, he was cornered on a driveway and brought to the ground after being tasered. One officer is seen retrieving the bloodied sword and walking away with it as Monzo lies handcuffed on his back. ‌ Today, Monzo was found guilty of Daniel's murder, along with three counts of attempted murder, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed article. He was cleared of one attempted murder charge in relation to victim Henry De Los Rios Polania, but found guilty of the lesser charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The court heard how Monzo, who had trained in Brazilian jiu jitsu and held a blue belt, began the rampage by ploughing his van into pedestrian Donato Iwule. He then struck Mr Iwule in the neck with his sword before turning his attention to Daniel. ‌ Jurors were told Daniel, who was listening to music through his headphones, had no chance to escape. He was hacked down in a horrifying attack that left his injuries 'unsurvivable'. Monzo then went on to attack a couple in their home and two police officers before finally being arrested. Daniel's grieving parents sat through every day of the harrowing trial, which included graphic CCTV footage and disturbing bodycam clips. ‌ Prosecutor Tom Little KC described the incident as a 'miracle' that more people weren't killed during Monzo's rampage. He said Monzo had slashed and chopped at anyone in his path with clear intent to kill. Monzo showed no emotion as the verdicts were read out. He had previously admitted to possessing the samurai sword used in the killing and a katana found in his van. He will be sentenced at the Old Bailey on Friday.

Scots cops searches to be on 'biological sex' after Supreme Court ruling

Police Scotland has issued new interim guidance requiring certain searches to be conducted based on a person's biological sex. Police searches in Scotland will be made by officers of the same biological sex following the landmark UK Supreme Court ruling on gender. Police Scotland issued interim guidance on searching transgender individuals on Wednesday, which has been developed n response to April's Supreme Court judgement that the terms 'man', 'woman', and 'sex' in the Equality Act 2010, refer to the sex of a person at birth. ‌ It states that searches involving removal of more than outerwear (e.g., jackets, gloves, headgear, footwear), whether in custody or as part of a stop and search interaction, must be conducted based on biological sex. ‌ However, if a transgender individual requests to be searched by an officer matching their lived gender, efforts will be made to accommodate this if operationally viable. In such cases, written consent is required from the authorising officer (Inspector rank or above), the person to be searched, and the officer(s) conducting the search. The guidance aims to ensure legal compliance and provide clarity for officers, developed with input from legal experts, human rights advisors, the Scottish Government, and other stakeholders. Assistant Chief Constable Catriona Paton emphasised the importance of balancing legal obligations with respect for personal dignity and human rights. She said: "This is a complex and important area of policing and searching members of the public is a significant intrusion of their personal liberty and privacy. ‌ 'It is critical that as an organisation, Police Scotland continues to fulfil its legal duties as well as ensuring officers and staff feel confident that they are conducting searches lawfully. 'While the guidance will bring clarity to both our colleagues and members of the public, we are acutely aware of the impact and depth of feeling around this issue, both among the transgender community and those who hold gender critical views. ‌ 'Our priority continues to be ensuring that in all our interactions we police and make decisions in line with our service values of integrity, fairness, respect and upholding human rights.' Police Scotland said it must ensure that it is acting in line with its duties under the Equality Act and the Human Rights Act, and that officers and staff feel confident that they are conducting searches lawfully. ‌ April's ruling on the definition of a woman came after SNP ministers lost a long-running legal challenge brought by the For Women Scotland campaign group over gender self-identification. It has had many implications across services such as access to single-sex spaces. Police Scotland said the had to review affected areas of operational policing, including the procedure for conducting certain kinds of searches. The interim guidance will be kept under review, as the forces awaits the publication of revised national guidance around the issue. They confirmed that Police Scotland's wider review into sex and gender is ongoing and further updates will be issued in due course.

Family of Greg Monks gather for funeral as mourners donate to children's charity

Greg Monks sadly died after he vanished hours into a stag do in the party resort of Albufeira in the Algarve. A funeral has taken place for a man who was found dead after going missing on a stag do in Portugal. Greg Monks, from Cambuslang, near Glasgow, vanished just hours into a stag do with his pals in the Algarve party resort of Albufeira. ‌ The 38-year-old had been missing for a week before Portuguese authorities discovered his body at the bottom of a ravine on Wednesday, June 4. ‌ Police believe Greg became lost while attempting to find his way back to his hotel and tragically fell to his death. His devastated family, including his mum, cousin and girlfriend Nicole, were forced to return home without his body as they waited for repatriation. His family and loved ones gathered at Daldowie Crematorium's West Chapel near Glasgow to say their goodbyes today. The service was also shown in the East Chapel and live-streamed online for those unable to attend in person. Mourners were asked to donate to children's charity Cash for Kids instead of bringing flowers. Those celebrating Greg's life spoke after the service. Sharon Cooke said: "A truly beautiful service, you did Greg proud. All the love in the world to you all." ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! His friends and family did him very proud. Rest in peace now Greg." On Monday evening before his funeral, loved ones gathered for an emotional balloon release at Fullarton Park in Glasgow. Attendees brought a blue balloon with a personal message to Greg. ‌ Greg's sister, Jillian Monks, previously spoke to the Daily Record about the agony of losing her brother – but said the family were grateful for some sense of closure. She said: "It has been the toughest time of our lives. We still can't believe what has happened. But we're glad we now have some sense of closure. I don't know if any of us could have coped with even another day searching for my brother. ‌ "We couldn't eat, we couldn't sleep. It was absolute torture. To know Greg has been found is a slight relief. We can now bring him home and give him the send-off he deserves." Greg had travelled to Albufeira for a five-day stag do, where he was due to be a groomsman. However, just hours into the trip he became separated from the group on the strip. The last sighting of him was captured in a quiet residential area around three miles from the main strip. Jillian has urged groups heading abroad to look after one another and stay together. ‌ She said: 'In places like Albufeira, everyone needs to stick together and look after each other. His pals are absolutely devastated at what happened. 'Before everyone left the hotel that night, Greg made sure they all had a business card and a map from the hotel to help them find their way home.' A fundraiser launched during the search – and later used to help with repatriation - has raised more than £34,000, showing just how loved Greg was by all who knew him.
