White House shows off a stern-looking Trump portrait with a knock-off Austin Powers twist
The White House just unveiled a new presidential portrait of Donald Trump, and the administration appeared to use a knock-off version of the Austin Powers movie theme to make the reveal in a video posted on X on Monday.
The official portrait replaced one introduced earlier this year for Trump's inauguration. The new close-up image shows a stern-looking Trump in closeup wearing a navy suit and a red tie against a dark backdrop.
The posting on social media shows a sped-up time-lapse of a staffer hanging the portrait as the bootleg version of Quincy Jones' Soul Bossa Nova — the music used as the theme to Mike Meyers' series of Austin Powers comedies — plays in the background.
The portrait utilizes high contrast and dark shadows across the president's face.
The first portrait released for Trump's second term featured different lighting and a background, with a more evenly lit image, showing the president wearing a blue tie in front of an American flag.
Both portraits stand out from the one used by Trump in his first term, which was brightly lit and showed a smiling Trump in a blue tie, also in front of an American flag.
Trump's new image is the first presidential portrait not to feature an American flag in the background since Richard Nixon 's in 1969, according to a gallery on the website of the Library of Congress. Most presidential portraits before Nixon's predecessor, Gerald Ford, tended to be set against a plain background.
The White House website and President Trump's Facebook account have been updated to feature the new portrait, which has been hung in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building adjacent to the West Wing.
The expression in Trump's two portraits from this year is similar to the one seen in his Georgia mug shot from two years ago. His supporters used the image of the president at the Fulton County jail to depict him standing up against what they viewed as the deep state.
The Trump campaign was quick to capitalize on the image, putting it on hordes of merchandise.
In March, Trump complained about a portrait in the Colorado Capitol, which he claimed was 'purposefully distorted,' and told Democratic Governor Jared Polis to remove it. The portrait was commissioned during his first term and had hung in the Capitol since 2019, but Colorado's Republican lawmakers took swift action to remove it.

Kris Jenner follows daughter Kylie's lead and makes shock plastic surgery admission
has shared that she and daughter Kylie Jenner share the same plastic surgeon after the 27-year-old opened up about her breast augmentation in 2019. Kris, 69, shared that Dr Garth Fisher was also responsible for her 2011 facelift and called him a 'close and treasured friend.' Kris praised Fisher for performing her first facelift and thanked him for allowing cameras in the operating room. In the comment section of the surgeon's Instagram, Kris wrote: 'Garth you are such a superstar class act!! You did my first facelift in 2011… 14 years ago!!! '[You] made it the most amazing experience ever and even gave us access to film so that others could get a peek inside what it's like and not be afraid… you have taken great care of us always and remain such a close and treasured friend!! Such an incredible talent!!' Indeed, Kris' facelift was filmed for an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Kris went under the knife to rejuvenate her face ahead of daughter Kim Kardashian's wedding to Kris Humphries. In the episode, Kris is in tears as she sits in the waiting room surrounded by her children. Clearly getting more nervous before the procedure Kris says: 'I don't want to die.' Kim soothes her by saying: 'Don't be nervous. If you're scared you don't have to do this. I'm sure everyone gets scared.' The children then pile on top of their mother for a group hug before they wave her off to surgery. While recovering from the operation, Kim assured her mom that the results were already positive. She said: 'Mom, you look fab. So gorgeous.' More recently Kris has been rocking a much more youthful complexion that has sparked facelift rumors. A rep for Kris recently confirmed that she sought the expertise of Dr Steven Levine - known as the 'facelift maestro' - to help her achieve her new look, according to Page Six. While the exact procedure Kris underwent remains unclear, the New York based plastic surgeon specializes in 'natural-looking enhancements of the face, breasts, and body' as per his website. Kris' shout-out to Fisher comes after Kylie revealed the surgeon performed her 2019 boob job. In response to her revelation, Fisher said he was 'honored' for the recognition while stressing the lengths he takes to ensure patient confidentiality at his practice. Fisher said: 'I'm honored to be acknowledged by Kylie - her kind post was unexpected but truly appreciated. 'Patient confidentiality has always been the foundation of my practice. Over 3 decades, we've never had a single breach. My entire team is thoroughly trained and bound by strict NDAs and confidentiality agreements. 'This is more than policy - it's our culture.' The surgeon added: 'HIPAA laws are in place to protect patients, and I will never discuss any details of a procedure unless the patient has chosen to share them or given me permission. 'Every patient is unique. This isn't "cookbook" surgery - it's thoughtful, personalized care.' Fisher is famed for being the man behind many of the Kardashian and Jenner family procedures. The board-certified surgeon also did Kourtney Kardashian's breast augmentation and removed a tumor from Khloe's face. He even gave a pre-transition Caitlyn Jenner a revision facelift, which was also featured on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

Nato set to approve new military purchases as part of a defence spending hike
The 'capability targets' lay out goals for each of the 32 nations to purchase priority equipment such as air defence systems, long-range missiles, artillery, ammunition, drones and 'strategic enablers' such as air-to-air refuelling, heavy air transport and logistics. Each nation's plan is classified, so details are scarce. 'Today we decide on the capability targets. From there, we will assess the gaps we have, not only to be able to defend ourselves today, but also three, five, seven years from now,' Nato Secretary-General Mark Rutte said. 'All these investments have to be financed,' he told reporters before chairing the meeting at Nato's Brussels headquarters. US President Donald Trump and his Nato counterparts will meet on June 24-25 to agree to new defence investment goals. US defence secretary Pete Hegseth said that 'to be an alliance, you've got to be more than flags. You got to be more than conferences. You need to keep combat ready capabilities'. Spurred on by their own security concerns, European allies and Canada have already been ramping up military spending, including arms and ammunition purchases, since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. At the same time, some allies balk at US demands to invest 5% of their gross domestic product in defence – 3.5% on core military spending and 1.5% on the roads, bridges, airfields and sea ports needed to deploy armies more quickly – when they have already struggled to grow their budgets to 2% of GDP. The new targets are assigned by Nato based on a blueprint agreed upon in 2023 – the military organisation's biggest planning shake-up since the Cold War — to defend its territory from an attack by Russia or another major adversary. Under those plans, Nato would aim to have up to 300,000 troops ready to move to its eastern flank within 30 days, although experts suggest the allies would struggle to muster those kinds of numbers. The member countries are assigned roles in defending Nato territory across three major zones – the high north and Atlantic area, a zone north of the Alps, and another in southern Europe. Nato planners believe that the targets must be met within five to 10 years, given the speed at which Russia is building its armed forces now, and which would accelerate were any peace agreement reached to end its war on Ukraine. Some fear Russia might be ready to strike at a Nato country even sooner, especially if Western sanctions are eased and Europe has not prepared. 'Are we going to gather here again and say 'OK, we failed a bit', and then maybe we start learning Russian?' Lithuanian Defence Minister Dovile Sakaliene said. Swedish Defence Minister Pal Jonson also warned that while Russia is bogged down in Ukraine right now, things could quickly change. 'We also know after an armistice or a peace agreement, of course, Russia is going to allocate more forces closer to our vicinity. Therefore, it's extremely important that the alliance use these couple of years now when Russia is still limited by its force posture in and around Ukraine,' Mr Jonson said. If the targets are respected, the member countries will need to spend at least 3% of GDP on defence. Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans said his country calculates in the medium term that 'we should spend 3.5% at least on defence, which in the Netherlands means an additional 16 to 19 billion euro (£13-16 billion) addition to our current budget.' The Netherlands is likely to buy more tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and long-range missile systems, including US-made Patriots that can target aircraft, cruise missiles and shorter-range ballistic missiles.

Has Tires been renewed for Season 3? Here's what we know:
Renewed or Cancelled? Tires is a new workplace comedy series set at an auto repair shop. It's very easy to binge-watch, and if you vibed with the humour in season 1, you'll feel the same way about this extended follow-up. If you've watched all the episodes in both seasons, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Here's what we know: What is Tires about? Tires revolves around the employees of an auto repair shop which is in danger of going out of business. The shop's manager, Will, does his best to revive its flagging fortunes but his best efforts are often undone by his employee (and cousin) Shane who prefers larking around to doing any actual real work. Season 2 though, includes more small-business, small-town shenanigans, with a mandatory HR meeting going to hell, the hunt for a new manager and a relaunch party includes some pretty surprising We have extensive coverage of Tires across the site, including reviews for both seasons, which you can find HERE! Will there be a Tires Season 3? At the time of writing, Tires has not been renewed for season 3. Generally Netflix would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show's future is made. So far, Tires has had a decent reaction from critics and audiences alike, with many commenting that the show is an easy binge-watch, has some good characters and the story is simple enough to slip into. Given the way this show is set up, we're predicting that this will be renewed for a third season. The series has plenty of potential and we do know its been a big hit with the streamers. Netflix are generally more lenient on their comedy offerings, and we'd imagine that Tires will follow suit. However, we could be completely wrong, given Netflix do tend to cancel a lot of their series, so take our prediction with a pinch of salt! What we know about Season 3 so far: Barely anything is known about season 3 at this point as Netflix haven't officially renewed this one. Should it be renewed, we'd imagine the antics over at the shop to continue, with plenty more character drama and crass humour to boot. If this series is renewed, we'd expect it to be green-lit with another 12 episode order, with a lot of the old cast returning too. Do you want to see Tires return for a third season? What did you think of the show? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
