Lamine Yamal extends Barcelona contract through 2031
Spanish club Barcelona has extended the contract of their rising star winger, Lamine Yamal, until 2031, the Catalan club announced yesterday.
In an official statement, Barcelona — winners of both the league and cup this season — said, «Barcelona and Lamine Yamal have reached an agreement to renew his contract, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2031».
The club added, «Renewing Lamine Yamal's contract is a testament to the strength of Barcelona's project. His talent on the global football stage is matched by only a handful of players, a fact that became clear from his very first official match on April 29, 2023, when he was just fifteen years old».
Spanish media now consider Yamal one of the highest-paid players at Barcelona following this extension.
Yamal's career has skyrocketed in recent months. After helping Spain win the European Championship last summer, he scored 18 goals and provided 25 assists across 55 games last season in all competitions.
He has scored 102 goals for the team, delivering consistently impressive performances that have put him among the frontrunners for the Ballon d'Or — the prestigious award handed out annually by the French football magazine France Football.
At just seventeen, Yamal is already a key player for Barcelona and played a major role in their Spanish Super Cup victory.
