At Home declares bankruptcy: See which NY stores are closing
At Home, a Texas-based home décor and furniture retailer, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday, June 16, citing "broader economic and retail-specific market pressures," according to court documents.
As part of the filing, 26 At Home stores nationwide will close by Sept. 30, including two locations in New York:
6135 Junction Blvd., Rego Park
300 Baychester Ave., Bronx
Court documents attribute the bankruptcy to a combination of rising interest rates, persistent inflation, and unsustainable customs and tariff costs.
Over the past year, At Home had already closed six locations in an attempt to stabilize operations. The company noted that many of its remaining stores are now operating at "sub-optimal performance levels" due to the financial strain of maintaining physical locations in today's retail landscape.
As part of the bankruptcy process, ownership of At Home will transfer to a group of hedge funds and investment firms based in New York City and San Francisco.

"The 47 Plan," which is expected to be the cell services' flagship plan, is expected to cost $47.45 per month, a nod to Trump's two terms in office. Here's what the Trump Organization says it will include: Unlimited talk, text and data Complete device protection 24/7 roadside assistance through Drive America Telehealth services, including virtual medical care, mental health support, and easy ordering and delivery for prescription medications Free International calling to more than 100 countries, including many with American military bases No contracts, no credit check According to the Trump Mobile website, people wanting to switch can call 888-TRUMP45 to talk to someone about getting Trump Mobile. The news release on the start of Trump Mobile did not say which carriers would support it, just that they were "working with all three major carriers." Yes, Trump Mobile is available in Tennessee for those with Android-based devices. The gold smartphone, the organization has dubbed the "T1," is not yet available. Trump says he will probably extend TikTok deadline -- again
President Trump said on Tuesday he would likely extend a deadline for China-based ByteDance to divest the US assets of short video app TikTok. The president said in May he would extend the June 19 deadline after the app helped him with young voters in the 2024 election. His comments to reporters on Air Force One on Tuesday reiterated that sentiment. 'Probably, yeah,' Trump said when asked about extending the deadline. REUTERS Trump has already twice granted a reprieve from enforcement of a congressionally mandated ban on TikTok that was initially due to take effect in January. The law required TikTok to stop operating by Jan. 19 unless ByteDance had completed a divestiture of the app's U.S. assets. Trump began his second term as president on Jan. 20 and opted not to enforce it. He first extended the deadline to early April, and then again last month to June 19. The U.S. ban on TikTok has been delayed twice by President Trump.
