2 senior IAS officers, PCS officer suspended in Haridwar land scam
DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took major action and suspended two senior Indian Administrative Officers (IAS) officers and a Provincial Civil Service (PCS) officer in the Haridwar land scam, according to an official statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).

A departmental inquiry will be initiated against the suspended officers. A total of 12 officers have been suspended against the officers including District Magistrate (DM) Kamendra Singh, former Municipal Commissioner (MC) Varun Chaudhary and Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ajayveer Singh, the statement said.
The scam involves large-scale irregularities in land allocation and transfer.
The decisions taken by the Uttarakhand CM are a sign of decisive change in the administrative culture of the state.
Earlier on May 25, in another move to bring an end to corruption in the state, the Uttarakhand CM directed officials to conduct campaigns against corruption more effectively and submit detailed reports of actions taken so far in cases related to conversion, as per a release.
Further, CM Dhami directed the officials to continue the verification campaign. He also said that immediate and strict action should be taken upon receiving information about any suspicious activity or person.
The chief minister also pointed out that while making the Aadhar card and other government documents, it should be ensured that no document is issued without proper verification.
Meanwhile, regarding property encroachment, the Chief Minister directed the officials to continue the ongoing campaign against it and ensured that land that has been made encroachment-free does not recur.
CM Dhami has further directed officials to conduct a detailed assessment of enemy property encroachment and submit a comprehensive report.

During a review meeting, the CM emphasised prioritising local workers for construction work on government buildings while incorporating the state's cultural identity and traditional mountain architecture in their design.
Additionally, CM Dhami instructed officials to bolster security arrangements in border areas and launch intensive checking campaigns to ensure safety and vigilance.

Bihar police arrest fake Aadhar card racket helping Bangladeshi infiltrators
PATNA: Bihar police on Saturday arrested a key member of a racket involved in preparing fake Aadhar cards for Bangladeshi infiltrators to help them sneak into Indian territory. The racket was busted in Kishanganj district, and several high-tech materials used in creating fake Aadhar cards were seized. Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Manglesh Kumar raided a house in Malingaon village under Jiyapokhar police station limits and arrested one person, Asharful. However, two of his accomplices, identified as Jamal and Pankaj, managed to escape. During the search of Asharful's house, the police found an eye scanner, a printer, a finger scanner, fake seals, two mobile phones, several SIM cards from India and Nepal, Nepalese currency, and a four-wheeler bearing a West Bengal registration number. The presence of a vehicle registered in West Bengal has raised concerns among investigating officers. Superintendent of Police (SP) Kishanganj, Sagar Kumar, said the police began the investigation after receiving information about a well-organised racket operating from the district, which was involved in providing fake Aadhar cards and other documents to Bangladeshi infiltrators. A special team was formed for the investigation, he added. SP Kumar said Asharful provided fake Aadhar cards and other documents that allowed Bangladeshi infiltrators to enter Indian territory by posing as Indian citizens. He added that these foreign nationals also used the documents to claim benefits under government schemes. 'We have also informed other investigating agencies about the racket. Interrogation of Asharful will throw more light on the racket. Police have registered a case against four members of the gang and raids are underway to arrest them at the earliest,' SP said, adding that the documents seized during the raid are being verified. Police sources said several fake Aadhar cards and related documents were recovered from Asharful's house. A police team has been sent to other districts to collect more information about the members of the inter-state racket, sources added. SP Sagar Kumar said the arrest of Asharful would act as a deterrent to infiltration from Bangladesh. District police, in coordination with the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), have launched an operation along the international border to prevent infiltration attempts. At least five Bangladeshi nationals have already been arrested while trying to enter Indian territory either from Nepal or Bangladesh, according to police sources in Kishanganj district. Kishanganj, which lies close to the Bangladesh border, is considered sensitive from a security point of view.

Uttarakhand CM Dhami inaugurates, lays foundation stone of 27 projects in Nainital worth Rs 126 crore 69 lakhs
Nainital (Uttarakhand) [India], June 7 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 27 development projects of Nainital district worth about 126 crore 69 lakhs in a program organised at Lalkuan, Nainital on Saturday. These projects include schemes related to education, road, medical, irrigation, sewerage, urban development, beautification and destitute cow protection. During this, 9 schemes were inaugurated at a cost of 25.93 crores and foundation stone were laid for 18 schemes at a cost of 100.76 crores. The Chief Minister said in his address that these projects will strengthen the infrastructure of the area and provide better facilities to the citizens. Appreciating the nationwide development work being done under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said that India is becoming a leader in every field including defence, science, sports and infrastructure today. He mentioned the changing power and resolve of the country, referring to 'Operation Sindoor', the abolition of Article 370 and the construction of a rail bridge in Kashmir. The Chief Minister said that in order to make Nainital district an ideal district, projects like Mental Hospital, Cancer Institute, Ayush Hospital, Open Gym, Ambedkar Park, Ring Road, Bypass Road, Astro Park, Pollinator Park and Sports University are being implemented rapidly. BJP leader Jagmohan Singh Raju writes to PM Narendra Modi for release of Sikh prisoners
On the 41st anniversary of Operation Bluestar, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state general secretary and former IAS officer Jagmohan Singh Raju wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to release Sikh prisoners on humanitarian grounds. Sharing the letter on his Facebook page, Raju said, 'Release Sikh prisoners on humanitarian grounds – put final lid on the Dark Era of 1980s in Punjab (sic).' In the letter penned in Hindi, he wrote: 'Today, June 6, is the day of pain and anger for the Sikh Panth. On this day in 1984, as you uttered in the Parliament, an attack was launched on the highest temporal seat of Sikhs, Akal Takht. You are the first Prime Minister who officially recognised this as an attack on the Akal Takht. Even Sikh PM Manmohan Singh did not have courage to accept this reality.' 'The attack on Akal Takht wounded the Sikh psyche and pride permanently. Due to lack of mature leadership needed to pacify hurt sentiments of Panth, Sikh youths opted for insurgency against this oppression. In revenge, Indira Gandhi, the then PM, was assassinated, followed by Sikh massacre in Delhi…This bloody era eliminated a generation of Sikh youths,' read the letter. 'Modi ji, I humbly request you to reconsider the release of Sikh prisoners on grounds of justice and compassion. They committed the crime because they were enraged over the attack on Golden Temple. They have served the adequate punishment for their offences.
