Honeywell is open to acquiring more companies in Europe to beef up its portfolio as the region ramps up its defense spending and military capabilities.
The North Carolina-based company would consider partnerships and venture investment across Europe, Ben Driggs, Honeywell Aerospace Technologies Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer, said on Sunday. Navigation, safety systems and control systems around thermal management and electrification are among the areas which Honeywell would be interested to expand in, he said.

Brookfield to buy internet provider Hotwire in about $7 billion deal, sources say

(Reuters) - Brookfield Infrastructure Partners has struck a deal to buy internet service provider Hotwire Communications, valuing the company at around $7 billion, including debt, people familiar with the matter said on Friday. Hotwire is being acquired from current owner Blackstone , which holds the investment across both its Infrastructure Partners and Tactical Opportunities arms. The people spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss confidential information ahead of a formal announcement, which was expected shortly, per one of the sources. Blackstone and Brookfield both declined comment. The Wall Street Journal first reported the news, citing people familiar with the matter. Co-founded in 2000 by Michael Karp and Kristin Johnson, Hotwire provides fiber network internet service to consumers, with a focus on commercial and community-living customers, according to its website. Blackstone bought the company in 2021 for an undisclosed amount, and helped grow the business, including expanding its operations from its original four-state footprint in the U.S. Southeast. Hotwire now offers internet in nine states, including Texas, California and Pennsylvania. Nippon Steel's Investors Begin to Count the Cost of its US Win

After a year and a half of government talks, countless regulatory hiccups and last-minute negotiations, Nippon Steel Corp. secured its much-wanted prize late last week when President Donald Trump approved the $14.1 billion purchase of United States Steel Corp. Now the Japanese giant's shareholders will begin to weigh up the benefits of its biggest ever overseas bet. But they'll also be keeping a watchful eye on the costs, which include the promise to invest $14 billion over the coming years and significant concessions to the US government that will leave Washington with a say in major decisions and control over some board seats.
