Kyle Larson, NASCAR's versatile champion is eyeing his boldest challenge yet: a debut in Australia's Supercars Championship at the prestigious Adelaide 500. This potential move represents another ambitious chapter in the career of motorsport's most globe-trotting competitor. Advertisement Larson has always wanted to race at Adelaide. "One that stands out to me is... I'd like to run a Supercar, in particular in Adelaide," he said recently. The timing could actually work out since NASCAR ends in early November and Adelaide runs late November. But here's the thing - it's not that simple. Larson would need to spend two or three weeks in Australia right after his NASCAR season ends. That's during the holidays and the guy already races almost every weekend of the year. He saw what happened when Shane van Gisbergen came to NASCAR and won his first race. "Shane came in and kicked all of our butts," Larson admitted. "So I know these Australian racers are extremely good. I would not be surprised to run last." Advertisement There are talks happening behind the scenes with different teams. Shane van Gisbergen and Zak Brown from McLaren are helping make connections. The race organizers would love to have a big NASCAR name like Larson show up. Larson proved he can handle Australian tracks when he won a sprint car race in Perth last December. For now, everything is still just talk and planning. But knowing Larson, he'll probably find a way to make it happen eventually. Charlotte City Council considering $25 million for NASCAR Hall of Fame improvements
Charlotte City Council is considering spending $25 million to upgrade the NASCAR Hall of Fame. This is the first major renovation project for the city-owned facility since its opening in 2010. 'We done updates from an exhibit standpoint,' Executive Director Winston Kelley said. 'But nothing on this level of magnitude.' A significant portion of the Hall of Fame would see changes under the proposal. A new education space would go where the current gift shop is located. The NASCAR Hall of Fame has served more than 21,000 students since its opening. It welcomes many field trips each year. An event space would take the space currently occupied by the café. The café would relocate to the Legends Room. A new gear shop will replace the former studio space. The fund can only be used on projects for the NASCAR Hall of Fame, the Crown Ballroom and the Hall of Fame and Convention Center's parking deck. The fund is paid for by a 2% tax added on to hotel bills. Last year, more than 201,000 people visited the Hall of Fame. That's the second-highest attendance since opening in 2010. Charlotte City Councilmember Ed Driggs asked for more information about the Hall's finances but generally leaders are in favor of the improvements. Like the Spectrum Center, the NASCAR Hall of Fame is a city asset that they are required to maintain. Despite the attendance, Councilman James Mitchell says the Hall of Fame has been a success. He was a city leader as Charlotte recruited the facility. 'This has been good for tourism,' he said. 'This has been good for our brand.' The CRVA says the NASCAR Hall of Fame has an annual economic impact of $74 million. Charlotte City Council will consider the project again in the late summer. The veteran NASCAR driver is set to return to Spire Motorsports to run nine of the final 13 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races of 2025, starting with this Saturday's DQS Solutions and Staffing 200 at Michigan International Speedway. LaJoie, who spent three full-time seasons driving Spire's No. 7 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Cup Series, will now strap into the No. 07 Chevrolet Silverado as the team mounts a charge for a Truck Series owner's championship berth. He'll return again at Richmond on August 15, then take the wheel for the final seven races of the season—presumably with the intention of disrupting the playoff picture and reminding everyone he's not quite done chasing trophies. The No. 07 truck is already a race winner this season—thanks to Kyle Larson, who took it to Victory Lane at Homestead back in March. With six races left before the playoff field is locked, Spire currently sits among the top seven in the owner's standings. A win from LaJoie at Michigan or Richmond could seal their spot. LaJoie has kept a relatively light driving schedule in 2025, with a trio of Cup Series starts for Rick Ware Racing and a season-best finish of 22nd in the Daytona 500. But his time behind the wheel has never been the full story. LaJoie is one of those rare NASCAR personalities who can explain the sport in plain English while keeping things entertaining—a skill that's now being put to use on Amazon's five-race broadcast slate. As for his Truck Series experience, it's admittedly limited—just five starts, three with Spire. His best finish came over a decade ago at Bristol, and his most recent run ended in a last-lap wreck at Daytona this past February. Still, his reputation for getting the most out of underdog equipment makes him a compelling option for a team on the playoff bubble. Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson, never one for excess sentimentality, admitted the idea had been floating around for a while. 'When we were talking about what we needed to go chase this championship, we kept describing a guy who sounded exactly like Corey,' Dickerson said. 'So I just asked him. He's a big part of what we've built, and this gives us a shot to do something meaningful together again.' The DQS Solutions and Staffing 200 airs live on FOX Saturday, June 7 at noon ET. If things go right, LaJoie may find himself in the mix for a title—or at least with enough material for a great story on live television.
