Kashmir Feels Safe, Like A Paradise: Vietnamese Tourists Defy Terror Scare

Despite the closure of several tourist spots after the Pahalgam terror attack, a few tourists are still making their way to Pahalgam and nearby areas.
On Thursday, a group of tourists from Vietnam arrived in Pahalgam and said that Kashmir was "paradise", further stating that they felt very good and safe while visiting Kashmir. However, they added that it would have been more enjoyable if some of the famous tourist spots had been open.
Speaking to ANI, a first time visitor expressed her sheer delight at her experience in the valley and said "This is the first time I came to Kashmir, and I had a wonderful amazing experience here, I've seen a lot of beautiful nature and how friendly people treat us very well, I feel a great time here. We have also bought a lot of stuff like Kashmiri shawls..."
When asked about the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the visitor said "I also heard that from the internet and some friends, somebody can be scared from that information, but I think because I also want to come here and recover Kashmir by myself so that is why that information did not make me feel scared, because when I came here a lot of people already welcomed us, they protected us very well and treated us very well, so that's why I feel Kashmir is very safe, beautiful exactly like what they say "A haven on earth."
Samita, another member of the group, echoed the sentiment, "Yes, our group is from Vietnam. In Kashmir it feels like Paradise on earth, it's very different from Vietnam, with white mountains, and the climate is very cool here. "
The group also made it a point to support local artisans by purchasing traditional handicrafts and shawls.
"We have got some gifts for our friends and family in Vietnam because Kashmir is very famous for the local handicrafts and shawls. We appreciate their skills and we want to support the artisans here because after the terrorist attack, fewer tourists come here, Samita added.
The terror attack on April 22 in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam targeted tourists, killing 26 people.

Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], June 10 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini travelled in the inaugural flight from Chandigarh to Hisar on Monday. The Chief Minister called the launch of the new air service a 'matter of great pride for Haryana' and said it would boost development and accessibility in the region. Speaking to the mediapersons after the flight, Saini said, 'Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the country has taken a big leap of development. Work has been done with progress... Today, the work of connecting Hisar to Chandigarh has been done; this is a matter of great pride for Haryana.' The new air service has been scheduled to run twice a week, providing a faster travel option between the state's capital and one of its major cities. The Chief Minister added, 'This flight will run two days a week and our people will get a lot of benefit from it. This is an important step in the direction of the resolution taken by Prime Minister Modi that even a person wearing slippers can travel by air.' He also hinted at future expansion of the service, saying, 'In the coming time, more flights will start from Hisar.' Earlier on Friday, the Chief Minister also announced a series of development projects worth crores of rupees for the Palwal assembly segment, covering sectors such as sports and education. The projects will also boost civic amenities for the region. Addressing a public meeting in Palwal, the Chief Minister announced that an international-level modern sports complex will be constructed in Palwal. In addition, the local indoor stadium will be upgraded with soundproofing for Rs 55 lakh. He also announced Rs 50 crore for the development of basic infrastructure such as parking facilities, rainwater drainage, sewerage systems, and water supply in Sector-21, Transport Nagar. The Chief Minister also announced that 75 roads covering 152 km in the Palwal assembly constituency are currently under warranty and will be repaired by the concerned agencies. In addition, Rs 37.57 crore was sanctioned for repairing eight roads spanning 37.5 km, and Rs 40.18 crore for renovating 26 roads covering a length of 54.5 km. The release mentioned that among other key announcements were Rs 50 lakh for remodelling the Janauli distributors and Rs 13 crore for constructing a VR bridge in five villages. He also announced a 66 KV substation in Mustafabad and a 220 KV substation in the Line Par area of Palwal, subject to land availability. The Chief Minister also announced opening two new schools in Palwal city, following departmental norms and land availability. He announced that a new grain market would be set up outside Palwal city, upon land availability. In Wards 1 to 10, the kutcha streets in residential colonies will be paved. An allocation of Rs 5 crore was announced to construct community centres in villages across the Palwal assembly constituency. (ANI)

Farooq Abdullah takes a ride in Vande Bharat from Srinagar to Katra, calls it
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 10 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah took a ride on the Vande Bharat train from Nowgam Railway Station in Srinagar to Katra. Nowgam Railway Station is a crucial part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) project, connecting Kashmir to Jammu area and the rest of India. Speaking to reporters, Farooq Abdullah expressed his happiness and termed this train as 'a huge blessing' for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He added that the train will benefit the people of J-K and tourists a lot. The National Conference chief said, 'I am very happy that I am travelling on this train to Katra. This is a huge blessing for us and is going to benefit tourists a lot. It is difficult to travel by road, and prices for air travel are extremely high. This train is going to benefit us a lot.' The two Vande Bharat Express trains from Katra Railway Station, directly connecting the Jammu division with Kashmir, were flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 6. The new Vande Bharat Express train will take just about three hours to travel between Katra and Srinagar, reducing the existing travel time by two to three hours. These trains have been specially designed to operate in the cold climatic conditions of the Kashmir Valley. The train will run through the Anji Khad Bridge, which is India's first cable-stayed railway bridge, and the Chenab Bridge, which is the highest railway arch bridge in the world. Prime Minister also inaugurated the world's highest railway arch bridge - 'Chenab Railway Bridge' and India's first cable-stayed 'Anji Bridge' in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. This marks a major milestone in Jammu and Kashmir's railway connectivity. The architectural marvel Chenab Rail Bridge, situated 359 metres above the river, is the world's highest railway arch bridge. It is a 1,315-metre-long steel arch bridge engineered to withstand seismic and wind conditions. A key impact of the bridge will be in enhancing connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar. All these projects are part of the ambitious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. The USBRL project is 272 kilometres long, constructed worth around Rs 43,780 crore, includes 36 tunnels (spanning 119 km) and 943 bridges. The project establishes all-weather, seamless rail connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and the rest of the country, aiming to transform regional mobility and drive socio-economic integration. India's hospitality sector to see revenue grow of 6-8% in FY 2026: ICRA
New Delhi [India], June 9 (ANI): The Indian hospitality sector is projected to see a revenue growth of 6-8 per cent in fiscal year 2026, according to a report by Investment Information and Credit Rating Agency (ICRA). ICRA also revised its outlook for the sector to 'Stable' from 'Positive' following three consecutive years of double-digit revenue expansion for the industry from FY2023 to premium hotel occupancy is estimated to remain robust at 72-74 percent in FY2026, a slight increase from the 70-72 per cent levels observed in FY2024 and FY2025. Additionally, the average room rates (ARRs) for premium hotels are expected to reach Rs 8,200-8,500 in FY2026, following healthy rates of Rs. 8,000-8,200 in FY2025. This rise in ARRs is attributed to lagging supply additions and ongoing renovation, refurbishment, and upgradation initiatives across several Makkar, Senior Vice President and Group Head - Corporate Ratings, ICRA Limited said that, 'After three years of strong demand, driven by favourable domestic leisure travel, demand from meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE), including weddings, and business travel, the growth in the Indian hospitality sector is forecast to normalise at 6-8% YoY in FY2026.'Although foreign tourist arrivals are expected to remain subdued in the coming months due to the recent terror attacks, a gradual recovery is anticipated. While, domestic tourism, which has been the primary demand driver, is expected to continue leading the way in the near term. Factors contributing to this growth include improvements in infrastructure and air connectivity, favorable demographics, and the projected increase in large-scale MICE events with the opening of new convention growth is expected to lag demand for the next 12-18 months. ICRA's premium room inventory database for 12 key cities indicates a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.5-5.0% in room inventory addition from FY2023-FY2026.A significant portion of this new supply is through management contracts and operating leases. Challenges in land availability in premium micro-markets of metros and larger cities are constraining supply, with new premium hotel supply largely coming from rebranding, property upgradation, and greenfield projects in the suburbs.
