Goa police's ‘radical content analyser' to curb extremist blitz

Goa police on Tuesday started monitoring online and offline content using the 'radical content analyser' to tackle extremist propaganda. Videos lasting up to 25 minutes will be subject to such monitoring too.
Chief minister Pramod Sawant said that Union home minister Amit Shah wants the radical content analyser, developed in Goa, to be used across the country.
Goa police, in collaboration with BITS Pilani Goa, developed two AI-based policing tools — Spot the Scam (online fraud detection), and the radical content analyser. Sawant launched the AI-based policing tools.
Sawant said that when Goa police gave a presentation to Shah, he was impressed and said that such AI policing tools should be used nationwide.
The CM said that technology tools used for policing will help Goa police maintain law and order.
Sawant noted that criminals are using advanced tools to commit crimes, and it is necessary to deploy sophisticated tools to crack the cases.
The radical content analyser has the capability to monitor radicalisation content — both online and offline.
Apart from Spot the Scam and the radical content analyser, Goa police have started using several other electronic tools such as Cyber Yoddha, AI-ML (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) Lab, QuickPass, and TRACK (Traffic Response and Congestion Control Centre).

Other policing tools include the tenant-domestic help verification app, the cloud-based 1930 cybercrime helpline centre, and the QR code-based public feedback system.
These tools help police improve their operational capabilities and connect with people.
The radical content analyser was conceived during Hackathon 2024, organised by Goa police, to counter online radicalisation and prevent extremist propaganda on the recommendation emerging from the DG/IG conference, 2023.
An MoU with BITS Pilani Goa was signed to develop the tool.
A police officer said that the QR-based initiative of Goa police aims to enhance traffic-rules compliance and reduce inconvenience to road users through technology-driven enforcement.
This was developed by students of Padre Conceicao College of Engineering during Hackathon 2024.
A cloud call centre for the 1930 cybercrime helpline is being developed at the AI-ML Lab. It is a cloud-based call-handling system for the cybercrime helpline to handle calls from citizens.
'It allows the handling of large volumes of calls, real-time monitoring, and call conferencing during a cyber distress call,' police said.

Nvidia chief calls AI ‘the greatest equaliser' but warns Europe risks falling behind
Will artificial intelligence save humanity — or destroy it? Lift up the world's poorest — or tighten the grip of a tech elite? Jensen Huang, the global chip tycoon, offered his opinion on Wednesday: neither dystopia nor domination. AI, he said, is a tool for liberation. Wearing his signature biker jacket and mobbed by fans for selfies, the Nvidia CEO cut the figure of a tech rockstar as he took the stage at VivaTech in Paris. 'AI is the greatest equaliser of people the world has ever created,' Huang said, kicking off one of Europe's biggest technology industry fairs. But beyond the sheeny optics, Nvidia used the Paris summit to unveil a wave of infrastructure announcements across Europe, signaling a dramatic expansion of the AI chipmaker's physical and strategic footprint on the continent. In France, the company is deploying 18,000 of its new Blackwell chips with startup Mistral AI. In Germany, it's building an industrial AI cloud to support manufacturers. Similar rollouts are underway in Italy, Spain, Finland and the U.K., including a new AI lab in Britain. Other announcements include a partnership with AI startup Perplexity to bring sovereign AI models to European publishers and telecoms, a new cloud platform with Mistral AI, and work with BMW and Mercedes-Benz to train AI-powered robots for use in auto plants. The announcements reflect how central AI infrastructure has become to global strategy, and how Nvidia — the world's most valuable chipmaker — is positioning itself as the engine behind it. They want AI to be a growth manufacturing industry for them.' Europe, long praised for its leadership on digital rights, now finds itself at a crossroads. As Brussels pushes forward with world-first AI regulations, some warn that over-caution could cost the bloc its place in the global race. With the U.S. and China surging ahead and most major AI firms based elsewhere, the risk isn't just falling behind — it's becoming irrelevant. Huang has a different vision: sovereign AI. Not isolation, but autonomy — building national AI systems aligned with local values, independent of foreign tech giants. 'The data belongs to you,' Huang said. 'It belongs to your people, your country... your culture, your history, your common sense.' But fears over AI misuse remain potent — from surveillance and deepfake propaganda to job losses and algorithmic discrimination. Huang doesn't deny the risks. But he insists the technology can be kept in check — by itself. 'In the future, the AI that is doing the task is going to be surrounded by 70 or 80 other AIs that are supervising it, observing it, guarding it, ensuring that it doesn't go off the rails.' The VivaTech event was part of Huang's broader European tour. He had already appeared at London Tech Week and is scheduled to visit Germany. In Paris, he joined French President Emmanuel Macron and Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch to reinforce his message that AI is now a national priority.

Over 200 electric car makers to participate in IESW 2025
Over 200 domestic passenger car manufacturers and international electric vehicle players are expected to participate in the upcoming India Energy Storage Week (IESW), scheduled for next month. Industry body India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) is hosting the 11th edition of IESW from July 8 to July 10, at the Yashobhoomi Convention and Expo Centre in New Delhi, a statement said. IESW 2025 is projected to attract over 200 domestic passenger car manufacturers and international electric vehicle (EV) makers to bolster India's vision of becoming a global manufacturing hub, according to the statement. Director of eMobility at Customized Energy Solutions (CES) Gurusharan Dhillon said, "SPMEPCI strikes a strategic balance between custom duty concessions linked to Investment, defined Domestic Value addition milestones, and the inclusion of the scope of Engineering Research & Development, Software, Testing, and Charging Infrastructure. These elements are crucial in facilitating the introduction of advanced global technologies, nurturing indigenous manufacturing capabilities, and building a robust supply chain ecosystem within India." As a membership-driven organisation, the IESA is dedicated to collaborating with stakeholders to explore opportunities in research and development, the manufacturing of E-Mobility technologies, and advocating for the adoption of clean transportation in India.
