While having an All Pro rookie season Raiders TE Brock Bowers still got his degree on time
It's safe to say Brock Bowers won't have to worry about anything but being a football player as a career. But that didn't stop the All Pro tight end from finishing what he started and getting his degree.
Bowers left the Universoty of Georgia after his junior season as the bet tight end in the country twice over. He was a consecutive All American and Mackey Award winner and was more than ready to turn pro. For many college athletes that means their attention shifts to their pro career.
Not Bowers.
Not only did he choose to finish his college education and get his degree in finance, he did it on time. Getting his degree four years after he started.
That's remarkable for anyone, really, let alone someone who turned pro, which would mean much of his time would now to take with preparing for games each week. It becomes downright astonishing when you consider what Bowers was able to accomplish on the football field while still apparently spending a good deal of his spare time on his studies.
Bowers broke a rookie tight end receiving yards record that stood for six decades, while setting a rookie receptions record (112) and the Raiders franchise receptions record.
Don't know how he does it, but it's quite impressive.

Raiders' OL Reveals Significant Offseason Change at OTAs

Raiders' OL Reveals Significant Offseason Change at OTAs originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Las Vegas Raiders failed to gain any traction during the 2024 NFL season. While injuries certainly did not help, poor coaching by Antonio Pierce and bad personnel decisions by general manager Tom Telesco were responsible for the team's four-win campaign as well. Advertisement Ever since being fired in January, Telesco has been dragged by Raiders fans for the addition of quarterback Gardner Minshew and the failure to re-sign 2022 First-Team All-Pro running back Josh Jacobs, However, Telesco made three great selections in the 2024 NFL Draft. This netted Las Vegas First-Team All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers, All-Rookie center Jackson Powers-Johnson and starting right tackle DJ Glaze. Las Vegas Raiders OL Jackson Powers-Johnson (58).Kirby Lee-Imagn Images Powers-Johnson overcame a slew of preseason injuries and was a solid starter for the Raiders at both guard and center last season. Now, the new regime in Las Vegas plans to play him exclusively at center. Advertisement He spoke to the media last week after an OTA workout and revealed that he made a significant change this offseason. "I've really hammered down a routine. I've lost 10 to 15 pounds," Powers-Johnson said. "I'm faster, I'm stronger, I'm getting a lot better at technique. ... I think I'm going to make a great jump. I'm going to give it as best as I got and have some fun." During his senior season at Oregon, Powers-Johnson won the Rimington Trophy. This is given annually to the best center in college football, so his position change makes sense. As a rookie, he gained ample experience as he played 956 snaps in 15 games, 14 of which he started. According to Pro Football Focus, he played 535 at offensive guard and 421 at center, earning an overall grade of 63.9, which ranked in the middle of the pack for interior offensive linemen. Advertisement Powers-Johnson has the ability to become an All-Pro or Pro Bowl-level player for the Silver and Black. He will need to continue growing and improving throughout his NFL career to achieve this, and he is already starting with a major change this offseason. John Harbaugh: Jon Gruden observed OTAs, gave us great insight

John Harbaugh welcomed another Super Bowl-winning head coach to Ravens OTAs this offseason. Former Buccaneers and Raiders head coach Jon Gruden observed the team's workouts on Thursday and Friday this week. Harbaugh said that Gruden's outside view provided the team with valuable information. 'He loves football, he's a great football coach, great football mind,' Harbaugh said, via the team's website. 'He studied our team, gave us some insight — players, coaches, schemes, all of it. We didn't give him the playbook, we didn't give him a script either. You can only go so far. He studied us. Basically, the message was, 'If I was game planning against you on defense, what would I do, how would I attack you?' He didn't just stop there. He watched our offensive guys. He had something for each player. Very, very detailed.' Gruden has been out of coaching since being resigning from the Raiders in 2021 in the wake of the release of offensive emails, but said earlier this year that he still hopes to return to the sideline. That may not happen, but the Ravens may still benefit from his acumen this season.
