The Timberwolves'
Mike Conley
won the award last year. The Celtics'
Jrue Holiday
is a three-time winner (2020, 2022, 2023).
Suns coach
Mike Budenholzer
coached Horford for several years in Atlanta, where they helped set the Hawks' franchise record for wins (60) in a season.
'He's just a super smart player,' Budenholzer said. 'He's just a high-IQ guy on both ends of the court. Selfless. Does anything to win. You really embrace his spacing, shooting threes, and then being able to attack the closeout from behind the line and passing and doing all the different things you can do with more space.

'He has kind of mastered that, I think that's like an old story now, but I think he always likes to go in the post and shoot a little righty hook and do some work down there. He's just a unique talent and a unique individual who is continuing to impact the game.'

Mazzulla said he's looking forward to seeing Boston's two-way players continue to grow during this playoff run.
'Just continue to play Celtic basketball and do what [coach]

There's been great carryover regardless of if guys are there or here. Just not missing a beat on the things that we need to get better at. Those things are consistent in both places and they just have to stick to that.'

Rockets formally reject Knicks' bid to speak with head coach Ime Udoka
As expected, the Knicks formally reached out to the Houston Rockets regarding permission to speak with head coach Ime Udoka. New York has been without a coach since deciding to part ways with Tom Thibodeau after its Eastern Conference finals loss. Also as expected, the Rockets denied that request, SNY's Ian Begley reported Tuesday night. He cited people familiar with Houston's stance. Advertisement Udoka remains under contract with Houston for the next two seasons. Coming off a season with the NBA's fourth-best record and a young and improving roster, the Rockets like the course they're on. Moreover, Udoka finished third in 2024-25 NBA Coach of the Year voting. So, there's not much incentive for Houston — even if offered lucrative compensation — to consider letting Udoka out of his contract to speak with the Knicks. It is possible that New York's interest could be mentioned by Udoka and his representation in future negotiations with the Rockets, who are likely planning to give him a contract extension by the 2026 offseason at the latest. But clearly, the plan for both Udoka and the Rockets is for their partnership to continue beyond the current contract. More: 'You couldn't pay us enough': Stephen A. Knicks denied by Timberwolves, Rockets to talk with Chris Finch, Ime Udoka
The Knicks were shot down by two teams in their head coach search. New York was denied permission to speak with Rockets head coach Ime Udoka for their vacant head coaching job in another twist in the ongoing coaching search. The Rockets were formally approached by the Knicks for permission, to which they quickly said no, according to SNY's Ian Begley. Advertisement Rockets head coach Ime Udoka reacts during game their Game 7 loss to the Warriors in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs. Troy Taormina-Imagn Images It had been previously reported that the Rockets had no interest in engaging in a scenario that would set up Udoka to potentially leave for the Knicks job. Udoka is under contract in Houston for the next two seasons and is coming off a year in which he coached the Rockets to the fourth-best record (52-30) in the NBA, along with the 47-year-old finishing third in the voting for NBA Coach of the Year. Advertisement It was the second organization that had turned the Knicks down when they had approached them to talk with their coach. Sports talk great Mike Francesa was the first to report that the Timberwolves had denied the Knicks permission to speak with their head coach, Chris Finch, who led them to the Western Conference finals this season. AP Advertisement The Knicks could still look to request permission to speak with other current head coaches, ESPN's Shams Charania reported late Tuesday night. The Knicks have been without a coach since they fired Tom Thibodeau in a move just days after they had been knocked out of the Eastern Conference finals by the Indiana Pacers.

Celtics' Brad Stevens Announces Kristaps Porzingis News on Monday
The Boston Celtics unexpectedly lost to the New York Knicks in the second round this season after winning the 2024 NBA Finals. However, they weren't at full strength, as Jaylen Brown played through a partial meniscus tear, Kristaps Porzingis played through an illness, and Jayson Tatum tore his Achilles at the end of Game 4. Porzingis averaged just 4.2 points on 24 percent shooting (22.2 percent 3 PT) with 3.7 rebounds in 15.5 minutes against the Knicks after averaging 12 points on 35.2 percent shooting (11.8 percent 3 PT) with 5.8 rebounds in 27.4 minutes against the Orlando Magic in the first round. Advertisement Celtics general manager Brad Stevens announced the latest on Porzingis during his end-of-season presser on Monday, via The Athletic's Jay King. Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis (8)Bill Streicher-Imagn Images "Brad Stevens said the way Kristaps Porzingis' illness was described to him was as 'post-viral syndrome,'" he reported. "Said playoff basketball was not conducive to helping him feel better." "Thinks Porzingis will be aided by a couple of weeks of rest but thinks it will be 'well cleared up' by the time he plays for Latvia in Eurobasket," he continued. Porzingis averaged 19.5 points on 48.3 percent shooting (41.2 percent 3 PT) with 6.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists across 28.8 minutes in the regular season. The 7-foot-2-inch, 240-pounder has played 99 regular season and 18 postseason games since the Washington Wizards traded him to Boston in 2023. Advertisement New York drafted Porzingis fourth overall in 2015 and he made the All-Star team in 2018. The Knicks then traded him to the Dallas Mavericks in 2019, who traded him to the Wizards in 2022.
