1 shot in Winston-Salem State University residence hall, police say; WSSU says suspect at large

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (WGHP) — One person was shot in a Winston-Salem State University residence hall on Friday, according to a Winston-Salem Police Department news release.
At 6:34 p.m., WSPD officers responded to a reported shooting at WSSU. Arriving officers found one person in a residence hall study room who had been shot.
The victim's injuries are not considered life-threatening at this time, and police say this appears to be an isolated incident.
The gun was fired at Rams Commons 3, and a suspect is still at large, according to a WSSU RamAlert.
People are asked to stay clear of the area.

Salem, Va (WFXR) — Virginia State Police have put out a CODI alert on behalf of the Salem Police Department, for 14-year-old Keirnan Toy Kazuhiki Terry. Terry is a white male, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing black Nike sweatpants, a black hoodie with a white graphic on the back, and a black beanie. His hair is currently cut short. Police say he was last seen at 2:20p.m. in the 500 block of Yorkshire Street in Salem, leaving the location on foot. VSP say his disappearance poses a 'credible threat to his health and safety.' Burlington man charged with sexual exploitation of minor

BURLINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — A Burlington man has been arrested and charged with exploitation, according to the Invictus Task Force. In May 2025, members of the Invictus Task Force initiated an investigation related to multiple cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. During the investigation, Raymond Peter Grzyb, 44, of Burlington, was identified as a suspect. On Tuesday, Grzyb was arrested and charged with five counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was taken to the Alamance County Detention Center and given a $500,000 secure bond. The investigation is ongoing. The Invictus Task Force is a joint effort of Randolph, Alamance, Davidson and Forsyth Counties, the State Bureau of Investigation, and Homeland Security in the fight against internet crimes against children (ICAC), sexual abuse, trafficking and the exploitation of children using a collaboration of resources as a force multiplier.
