No hospital in Gaza is working at full capacity, Gaza Official Says

DaysofPal — The Palestinian Ministry of Health warned on Wednesday of a catastrophic collapse in Gaza's medical system as Israeli attacks continue to cripple hospitals and block the entry of lifesaving supplies.
'Wounds are rotting, and we're forced to amputate,' said Dr. Khalil Al-Dakran, spokesperson for Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah. 'There are no antibiotics. There are no tools for bone repair. We're watching patients' conditions worsen into death from otherwise treatable injuries.'
According to the Health Ministry, 85% of healthcare services in Gaza are now paralyzed due to Israeli bombardment and an intensified blockade that began in early March. Only 22 hospitals remain partially functioning, while 14 have been completely shut down.
'No hospital in Gaza is working at full capacity,' said Dr. Marwan Al-Hams, director of field hospitals in Gaza. 'After the strike on the European Hospital yesterday — the only cancer and oncology center in the south — it's clear the goal is full destruction of our health system.'
The lack of essential medications, fuel, and medical equipment is driving a wave of preventable amputations. Dr. Al-Dakran revealed that more than 5,000 people — including 3,000 children — have lost limbs during the war, many due to untreated infections and sepsis caused by shrapnel and burn wounds.
'These were not fatal injuries,' he said. 'But because we don't have antibiotics or bone fixation tools, patients ended up losing limbs — or dying.'
He also accused Israeli forces of using internationally banned weapons that are causing an unusually high number of traumatic injuries to the head, chest, and limbs.
Al-Dakran appealed to the international community to pressure Israel into allowing urgent medical supplies into Gaza and to evacuate critical cases abroad for surgery and prosthetics.
'The wounded need crutches, wheelchairs, and artificial limbs,' he said. 'But the Israeli blockade even prevents those.'
Meanwhile, Dr. Al-Hams warned that Gaza's remaining facilities are running on fumes. 'Hospitals are out of medicine. They're out of fuel. They're operating in name only,' he said.
Even UNRWA's 85 primary care centers have been mostly shut down, leaving a population of over two million with virtually no access to healthcare.
'These are not isolated attacks,' said Al-Hams. 'They are part of a systematic campaign to destroy Gaza's health infrastructure and cause the slow death of its people.'

11-Year-old Gaza boy arrives in Italy for treatment after losing entire family in Israeli strike – DOP

DaysofPal – An 11-year-old Palestinian boy, Adam al-Najjar, who was critically wounded in an Israeli airstrike that killed his father and all nine of his siblings, has arrived in Italy for urgent medical treatment. Adam landed with his mother, Dr. Alaa al-Najjar, at Milan's Linate Airport on Wednesday. He was greeted by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who presented the boy with a football before he was transferred to Niguarda Hospital for care. Adam is the only surviving child of ten siblings after an Israeli strike destroyed their home in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, on May 23. His brothers and sisters, who ranged in age from seven months to 12 years, were all killed in the attack. His father, Dr. Hamdi al-Najjar, succumbed to his injuries days later. Dr. Alaa al-Najjar, a pediatrician, had been working at Nasser Hospital at the time of the airstrike, one of the last functioning medical facilities in southern Gaza. According to AFP, Adam sustained serious burns and multiple injuries. His mother told La Repubblica that he is in stable condition but will require extended treatment. 'He has a head wound that is healing, but his left arm is bad; the bones are fractured, and the nerves damaged,' the 36-year-old said. Choosing to focus on her son's recovery, Alaa said she tries not to dwell on the immense loss she has suffered. 'I remember everything. Every detail, every minute, every scream,' she said. 'But when I remember, it's too painful, so I try to keep my mind focused entirely on Adam.' Adam's evacuation was made possible after his uncle's appeal to the media prompted a response from the Italian government. Foreign Minister Tajani announced that Italy would take action, leading to Adam's transfer out of Gaza. Alongside Adam, 16 other injured Palestinian children and over 50 relatives arrived in Italy on military aircraft from Israel's Eilat airport, according to the Italian foreign ministry. The children will receive treatment in hospitals across Italy, including in Rome, Florence, and Bologna. To date, Italy has taken in 150 wounded Palestinians for medical care, the ministry said. While Italy has consistently expressed political support for Israel since the beginning of its military operation in Gaza in October 2023, Italian officials have more recently voiced criticism over the scale of Israel's response and rising civilian casualties. According to UNICEF, the United Nations children's agency, more than 50,000 children have been killed or injured in Israel's ongoing assault on Gaza.

61 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, including dozens aid seekers

DaysofPal – Israeli occupation forces killed at least 61 Palestinians in various parts of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, according to medical sources, as attacks continue to target both civilian areas and aid distribution points amid a worsening humanitarian catastrophe. Health officials in Gaza confirmed that 39 of the victims were killed while waiting for humanitarian aid in central Gaza. Among them, 25 Palestinians lost their lives when Israeli forces opened fire near the Netzarim junction, south of Gaza City, in an area known to be a hub for food distribution coordinated by the United States and Israel. Witnesses and health workers described the attack as a deliberate strike against civilians desperately seeking food. Elsewhere in the Strip, the director of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital reported that eight Palestinians were killed and others injured in an Israeli airstrike on a residential home in Deir al-Balah. In a separate incident early Wednesday morning, four Palestinians were killed and over 90 injured when Israeli forces targeted displaced people waiting for aid along Salah al-Din Street, one of Gaza's main thoroughfares, according to medical personnel at Al-Aqsa Hospital. Further south, at least four Palestinians were killed in an Israeli drone strike on a tent sheltering displaced families in Al-Qarara, north of Khan Yunis. In the same region, Israeli aircraft and artillery also struck areas surrounding the Nasser Medical Complex, as well as the neighborhoods of Qizan Abu Rashwan and Al-Batin Al-Samin at dawn. Hospital sources confirmed that a total of 82 Palestinians have been killed since Tuesday morning, including 20 shot while trying to access humanitarian aid near the Netzarim junction and the Nablus roundabout west of Gaza City. On Tuesday evening, three paramedics and Palestinian journalist Momen Abu Al-Aouf were killed when Israeli forces targeted a medical rescue team attempting to retrieve the bodies of victims from a previously bombed home in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City. Humanitarian agencies and the Gaza Government Media Office have warned that Israel's continued closure of aid crossings, particularly those bringing food, has pushed 2.2 million Palestinians in Gaza into severe famine conditions. The United Nations has stated that this strategy amounts to deliberate starvation aimed at forcing displacement. Since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023, Israel, backed by the United States, has been committing acts of genocide in Gaza, including mass killings, enforced famine, systematic destruction of homes and infrastructure, and the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands. The ongoing campaign has left over 181,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, the majority of whom are women and children. More than 11,000 remain missing beneath the rubble. Entire neighborhoods have been erased, hospitals rendered inoperable, and access to food, water, and medical care has been nearly eliminated. Shortlink for this post:

IOF Kills 25 Civilians in New Massacre Near Gaza Aid Distribution Point

DaysofPal – Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed yet another massacre on Wednesday morning, targeting starving Palestinian civilians who had gathered near an aid distribution site in the Netzarim area, south of Gaza City. The assault killed at least 25 people and injured dozens more. According to medical sources, Israeli forces opened fire on a crowd of civilians awaiting food aid near the Al-Nabulsi area and along the so-called 'Netzarim Corridor' in southwestern Gaza. The attack adds to an increasingly bloody toll of civilians killed while simply trying to survive under siege. Al-Shifa Hospital received 10 of the victims' bodies, while Al-Quds Hospital confirmed it had received 6 more and treated at least 95 people for injuries sustained in the attack. Witnesses described chaotic scenes of panic, with people fleeing for their lives after being fired upon while waiting for essential aid. This massacre follows closely on the heels of Tuesday's deadly incident, in which 36 civilians were shot and killed—also near the Netzarim Corridor—during a similar attempt to receive humanitarian supplies. Several of those wounded in that attack remain in critical condition. With these latest atrocities, the death toll from Israeli attacks near so-called 'U.S.-Israeli aid distribution centers' has now reached at least 180 Palestinians killed and over 1,500 wounded, according to local health authorities. The IOF continues its brutal campaign across the Gaza Strip with constant airstrikes and ground bombardments, exacerbating an already catastrophic humanitarian crisis. The siege has brought Gaza to the brink of famine, with civilians forced to risk their lives for a loaf of bread or a bag of flour. International aid agencies have repeatedly warned that the conditions in Gaza are incompatible with life. Yet, the deliberate targeting of aid seekers has become a grim hallmark of this war—turning supposed humanitarian corridors into death traps. Shortlink for this post:
