Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel performs sacred Pahind Vidhi; flags off 148th Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 27 (ANI): On the occasion of Ashadhi Bij, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel offered prayers to Lord Jagannath early Friday morning at the temple premises in Ahmedabad, ahead of ceremonially flagging off the 148th Rath Yatra, according to an official statement from the state government.
Upholding the annual tradition, the CM performed Pahind Vidhi, the symbolic ritual of cleaning the chariot. Marking his fourth consecutive year, the CM swept Lord Jagannath Rath with a golden broom before the official commencement of the Yatra.
State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, State Cooperation Minister Jagdish Vishwakarma, and Mayor of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Pratibha Jain, were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion of the Rath Yatra, the CM extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Gujarat, according to the official statement. He stated that it was his privilege to have the opportunity to perform aarti and ceremonially flag off the 148th Rath Yatra. The CM said that Lord Jagannath is a revered deity for all and prayed for His blessings to strengthen everyone's resolve in fulfilling the Prime Minister's vision of a Viksit Bharat through a Viksit Gujarat.
He also noted that the Rath Yatra has been a symbol of communal harmony. On the occasion of Ashadhi Bij, the CM conveyed heartfelt New Year greetings to Kutchhi people across the country and around the world.
According to the statement, on this occasion, the Mahant of the Lord Jagannath Temple, Dilipdas; the President of Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti, Avichaldas; local MLAs; the City BJP President, Prerak Shah; other dignitaries; and a large number of devotees were present.
Earlier today in Gandhinagar district, CM Patel also attended the 'Kanya Kelavani Mahotsav' and the School Entrance Festival 2025 program. The CM was seen standing with young students, distributing educational kits to them. Under this admission festival, the CM mentioned that the children were enrolled in the Pundrasan Primary School.
His post in Gujarati read, 'On this occasion, educational kits were distributed to the children, and outstanding students were honoured. I commend the spirit of the generous donors who contributed to the Kanya Kelavani Fund as well as to the support for the school's children, including educational kits.' (ANI)

She urged the BJP in West Bengal not to politicise the incident and behave as a responsible opposition. She assures strict action against all the accused. Addressing a press conference, Shashi Panja said, 'There was an immediate postmortem and dissection to look at the names and the religion. You have to condemn the incident. You are now trying to show photographs. Trinamool Congress Student wing is not teaching the students to rape. The police took immediate action, and within 12 hours of the complaint, three people were caught. They are in custody, and the investigation is on. Their mobile phones have been seized, and the victim's statement has been taken. She has named the accused. It has been taken seriously. The BJP cannot even think the way Kolkata police swung into action. They started maligning since such swift action is missing in the BJP-ruled states. If they want to be in Bengal as a responsible Opposition, then they have to behave responsibly.' She hit out at the BJP and accused the Central government of holding the Aparajita Bill. 'The Aparajita Bill, which was passed in our Vidhan Sabha before 10 months, who has stopped it from becoming a law? BJP has put it on hold at the centre. Body of a woman is not the object to do politics. We have to respect her body. Such incidents cannot be used for comparison between states based on the number of incidents. West Bengal is the only state to introduce the Aparajita Bill. In some of the states rape accused have been garlanded. You won't see this in West Bengal. Everyone knows which party does this. The guilty will be punished,' she further said. A female student was allegedly gang-raped inside a law college in Kolkata's Kasba on Wednesday evening. The police have arrested all three accused within 24 hours. The three accused, named as Monojit Mishra (31), Zaib Ahmed (19), and Pramit Mukhopadhyay (20), were former students or staff members of the same law college. According to the police, the accused named in the FIR will be produced before the A.C.J.M. of Alipore, South 24 Parganas, with a prayer to remand them to Police Custody for the purpose of a proper investigation into the case. The alleged sexual assault took place between 7:30 pm and 10:50 pm on Wednesday within the law college premises. According to the official, one of the accused allegedly committed sexual assault, while the others were involved in the crime. The victim's family filed a police complaint against the accused, and the police have taken swift action in the matter. Two of the accused, Monojit Mishra and Zaib Ahmed, were arrested on Thursday, near Siddhartha Shankar Roy Sishu Udyan, close to Talbagan Crossing in Kolkata. Pramit Mukhopadhyay was arrested later the same night at his residence. The police have seized the mobile phones of all three accused. The official had visited the site and kept it under protection till they had done a forensic examination. They requested custody remand for further investigation. (ANI)

Trump said at a White House press conference, referring to India's current market access restrictions. 'India, I think we are going to reach a deal where we have the right to go and do trade. Right now, it's restricted. PM Modi to go on five-nation tour from July 2, attend BRICS Summit in Brazil
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a five-nation tour beginning July 2 to participate in the BRICS Summit in Brazil and expand India's ties with several key nations of the Global South. Modi is also likely to hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit.(ANI) Besides Brazil, Modi will visit Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil, and Namibia during the eight-day trip, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). In the first leg of the visit, Modi will undertake a visit to Ghana from July 2 to 3. This will be the prime minister's first ever bilateral visit to Ghana. It will be the first prime ministerial visit from India to Ghana in three decades. During the visit, Modi will hold talks with the president of Ghana to review the strong bilateral partnership and discuss further avenues to enhance it through economic, energy, and defence collaboration, the MEA said. From Ghana, Modi will travel to Trinidad and Tobago on a two-day visit from July 3 to 4. It will be the first visit by an Indian prime minister to the country since 1999. During the visit, Modi will hold talks with President of Trinidad and Tobago Christine Carla Kangaloo and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. He is also expected to address a joint session of the parliament of the island nation. The visit of the prime minister to Trinidad and Tobago will impart fresh impetus to the deep-rooted and historical ties between the two countries, the MEA said. In the third leg of his visit, Modi will visit Argentina from July 4 to 5. The prime minister will hold wide-ranging talks with President Javier Milei to further enhance India-Argentina partnership in key areas including defence, agriculture, mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, trade and investment, according to the MEA. "The bilateral visit of the prime minister will further deepen the multifaceted strategic partnership between India and Argentina," it said in a statement. In the fourth leg of his visit, Modi will travel to Brazil at the invitation of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The prime minister will visit Brazil from July 5 to 8, 2025 to attend the 17th BRICS summit followed by a state visit. This will be Modi's fourth visit to Brazil as the prime minister. The 17th BRICS Leaders' Summit will be held in Rio de Janeiro. "During the summit, the prime minister will exchange views on key global issues including reform of global governance, peace and security, strengthening multilateralism, responsible use of artificial intelligence, climate action, global health, economic and financial matters," the MEA said. Modi is also likely to hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit. For the state visit to Brazil, Modi will travel to Brasilia where he will hold bilateral discussions with President Lula on the broadening of the strategic partnership between the two countries in areas of mutual interest, including trade, defence, energy, space, technology, agriculture, health and people to people linkages, the MEA said. In the final leg of his visit, Modi will travel to Namibia. This will be the third ever prime ministerial visit from India to Namibia. During his visit, Modi will hold bilateral talks with President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. He is also expected to deliver an address at the Parliament of Namibia. "The visit of the prime minister is a reiteration of India's multi-faceted and deep-rooted historical ties with Namibia," the MEA said.
