With a 20-year history, FRF won the Best Toyota Group award for its focus on engaging and developing its teams to provide service that exceeds customer expectations. The centre consistently reviews and enhances its processes to deliver consistently strong performance across its six centres in South Wales.
Mark Radcliffe, MD of FRF Group, commented: 'Once again, this result has been made possible by the hard work of the teams across our centres. We would also like to thank all our customers for their support.'
Helping Steven Eagell Toyota Peterborough earn the Best Toyota Retailer Award, Darren Wheatley, General Manager, is dedicated to ensuring the team focuses on a customer-first attitude, leading to the business delivering strong performances across all areas.
He said: 'It was such an honour to receive the award, which was a result of the team committing to being 'brilliant at the basics' and 'doing the right thing when no one is watching'. Their focus on putting the customer at the centre of everything is what makes them a winning team who put customers at the heart of all we do every day. A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone in the business for their contribution, but most of all for dedication to ensuring every customer is respected and receives the best service possible.'
Two Toyota Retailers in the RRG Group, based in North West England and Yorkshire, won Ichiban awards for excellence in customer service:
RRG Rochdale won the Large Retailer award, and RRG Bury the Medium Retailer category. Both were rewarded for delivering an exceptional performance across all aspects of customer service.
The Ichiban Award Small Retailer category was won by Helensburgh Toyota, which was credited with having big ideas and a big heart. When the former owners retired, the business was converted to an Employee-Owned Trust giving every team member a stake in their future. The Centre also won Rural Retailer of the Year 'for taking pride in being the best retailer in town, with every staff member treating customers the right way, consistently going the extra mile'. The retailer also recently earned Best Employer in Town (BEiT) Gold Accreditation that recognises businesses that support their employees.
Tim Roome, Managing Director for Helensburgh Toyota, commented: 'We're absolutely thrilled to have ended the year winning both an Ichiban Award and Rural Retailer of the Year. This is special for us as it's our first year of being employee-owned. It rewards the hard work of every member of our team in making Helensburgh Toyota a success.'

Toyota's Big Electric Leap: 7 New EVs Are Coming to the United States
Toyota has been picking up the pace to challenge competitors in the US EV segment, and those efforts could make it a top manufacturer over the next few years. Toyota is finally waking up Toyota's been rather sluggish on the transition to EVs, instead taking a slow approach by shifting most of its lineup from combustion engines to hybrid powertrains. Don't count Toyota out of the game just yet, though – consider the manufacturer a sleeping giant who is finally waking up. After a weak entrance into the electrified segment with the bZ4X, soon to be renamed the bZ, the Japanese automaker is ramping up production with plans to sell seven EVs in the United States by mid-2027. Previous Pause Next Unmute 0:00 / 0:10 2025 Ford Maverick: 4 reasons to love it, 2 reasons to think twice Watch More 2026 Toyota bZ — Source: Toyota At least two EVs will be made in the United States Toyota currently has two all-electric models between its main and premium Lexus brands. The Toyota bZ4X, renamed to bZ for the 2026 model year, receives several major updates that make it more attractive, including a 314-mile range. The 2026 Lexus RZ follows suit, with improved performance and up to 300 miles of range on a single charge. Toyota also announced that the C-HR will arrive sometime in 2026, presumably for the 2027 model year, and offer a 290-mile range. 2026 Toyota C-HR — Source: Toyota Production of two new EVs will begin at its American manufacturing facilities in 2026, while three others will be imported. According to executives, the Japanese automaker expects slow but steady growth in the EV segment. If there's a surplus for American-made EVs, Toyota will export that surplus to overseas markets with faster EV adoption rates. 'We'll sell a little bit more every year and grow with the market,' Cooper Ericksen, a senior vice president of planning and strategy at Toyota Motor North America, told Bloomberg. 'But we have to think about how many Canada will use, how many the US will use, and we can then export to other global destinations.' 2026 Toyota RAV4 — Source: Toyota Toyota previously pledged to offer an electrified version of every nameplate on its global lineup. To date, approximately 80% of Toyota and Lexus models are available with hybrid or all-electric powertrains. Most recently, Toyota announced that the 2026 RAV4 will come with hybrid-only powertrains. Toyota's U.S. battery production prepares to come online Toyota plans to manufacture at least two new EVs in the United States, but their production efforts don't end there. The Japanese automaker has plans to begin producing and shipping lithium-ion batteries from its US facility later this year. The battery plant spans more than 1,850 acres in Liberty, North Carolina. Once fully operational, the facility will have 14 lines producing batteries. Of those, four will manufacture hybrid batteries, while the other 10 will supply batteries for the two American-made EVs. 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland — Source: Toyota The first hybrid battery line is expected to start production in June, with the rest beginning operations through 2034. Once all 14 lines are running, the production facility will produce up to 30 gigawatt hours, the equivalent of 800,000 hybrid, 150,000 plug-in hybrid, and 300,000 EV batteries. Toyota sold less than 30,000 EVs in 2024, during which US EV sales rose 7.3% to 1.3 million. That isn't surprising, considering the automaker has been fairly outspoken regarding government policy towards EV adoption. Instead of using incentives to speed up EV sales, such as the $7,500 tax credit, Toyota executives indicated that governmental bodies should allow the EV segment to grow organically. 2026 Toyota C-HR — Source: Toyota 'The whole EV ecosystem is ahead of the consumer,' said Jack Hollis, COO of Toyota North America, in November 2024 regarding emissions regulations. 'It's not in alignment with consumers. It's just not.' Even so, the Japanese automaker expects EV market share to double over the next five years. According to Cox Automotive, EV sales made up 8.1% of total vehicle sales in 2024. Currently, competitors like Tesla and Hyundai are dominating US EV sales. While all-electric vehicles might not be a major seller for Toyota now, executives aren't willing to cede the segment to competing manufacturers. Source: Lexus Final thoughts Tariffs aside, it looks like Toyota has a solid plan to become a true competitor in the EV segment. Considering the original bZ4X crossover was met with mixed reactions thanks to its slow charging speed, lackluster performance, and disappointing range, Toyota's upcoming EVs are a breath of fresh air. The updated bZ and RZ seem promising enough, and the upcoming C-HR looks like a stylish addition to the all-electric lineup. If the pricing is right, Toyota could very well overtake General Motors and Hyundai within a few years. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if the Japanese manufacturer manages to topple Tesla, too.

Faraday Makes Its Boldest Promises Yet, Including Beating Toyota
Going After The Biggest Players In The Game It's not that long ago that it seemed a new EV startup was popping up every week. Few of them survived, and fewer still seem to have any prospects of doing so much longer, but one that is hanging on is Faraday Future, and it's finally announcing (and teasing) new cars for us to speculate about. Right at the start, we should warn you that very little concrete information has been provided, but the few bits of the company's announcement that are specific are telling. The name of the new car is the FX 4 (part of the Faraday X sub-brand), and the company claims that it will be 'the disruptor of RAV4 in the AIEV era.' Going after Tesla and Toyota with one car? That's going to bring some challenges, but Faraday has others in the works for other uses, too. Previous Pause Next Unmute 0:00 / 0:10 Nissan's revolutionary self-driving tech hits Japan's streets Watch More What We Can Expect From The FX 4 Only one teaser image of the FX 4 was shared on the company's website, and nothing is yet being shown on its social media channels, but that won't remain the case for long. The company intends to unveil the new model's product plan in Q3 2025, with plans to start accepting pre-orders before the year is out. The company believes the FX 4 is the model 'with the greatest potential to become a true blockbuster and unlock the mainstream market within FX's current lineup.' That, in itself, is an admission that things haven't gone well with other products, an acknowledgement that for EVs to find success, they have to – at least for now – become much cheaper than something like the FF91, which can carry a base MSRP on the dark side of $300,000. A 2025 Toyota RAV4 costs a tenth of that in base spec ($29,250, excluding destination), and a 2025 Model Y starts less than 20 grand higher in its most expensive form. Faraday's current base offering, the FX 5, is already targeting a price between $20,000 and $30,000, so the FX 4 – expected to be smaller than the Model Y – could rival the cheapest cars in America if all promises are kept. But Wait, There's A Minivan Coming Too You might not have noticed it yet, but minivans are cool again. We're not the only ones saying it either; Road and Track recently spoke to Edmunds and found that, not only are the options improving, but more people are buying those options. Faraday, always with an eye on the future (ha), seems to have realized this some time ago, as it's also planning to bring the FX Super One minivan to market, teased above. That's one of the prototypes seen below. Another is the aforementioned FX 4, and a third is the FX 6, which is supposed to reach the market with a price tag between $30,000 and $50,000. The label on Faraday's site only specifically notes those three, and none of the cars in the image below reveal all their features, so we can't be sure of the last prototype. The fact that four vehicles have been displayed should indicate that significant progress on all of Faraday's projects is being made. We'll see what transpires with the FX 4 by the end of September and go from there, but the Tesla Model Y has consistently been a global best-seller, and Toyota's excellent RAV4 even outsold the beloved Ford F-150 last year, so it's as tall an order as they get. In addition, Toyota has new EVs of its own on the way. May the best automaker win.

Toyota & Lexus new cars for 2025 revealed including rugged RAV4 update, hybrid Aygo and sharp-looking ES saloon
Sales of Toyota and its posher Lexus arm keep growing TOYS R US Toyota & Lexus new cars for 2025 revealed including rugged RAV4 update, hybrid Aygo and sharp-looking ES saloon Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) 'IF you want to catch a lot of fish, set out many fishing rods,' a wise man in the motor industry once said. Toyota is definitely following that advice. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 5 Toyota will relaunch its baby Aygo X as a hybrid instead of pure-petrol at the end of the year Credit: Supplied 5 The C-HR+, looks, and is, different from the C-HR hybrid Credit: Toyota 5 The small pure battery Urban Cruiser, on sale shortly Credit: Supplied So any potential customer swimming into a Toyota dealership will find a huge range of cars ready to hook them. It's working. Sales of Toyota and its posher Lexus arm keep growing. A cascade of new cars and updates will likely keep the momentum going into next year. The RAV4 family SUV is a massive seller and returns next year as a plug-in hybrid only. It should be economical when running on petrol alone. But if you can find somewhere to plug in, the electric range is now a very handy 62 milles. The angular new body has a proper rugged look to it, standing out from the crop of softy crossovers it competes against. Toyota keeps driving down the cost of hybrids. At the end of the year it will relaunch its baby Aygo X as a hybrid instead of pure-petrol. That will have the lowest consumption and CO2 rating of any car without a plug. Toyota offers $25k discount off brand new model until June 2 – but the rebate depends on where shoppers live So the hybrid system is still a massive part of Toyota's success. When hybrid arrived here in the Prius at the turn of the millennium, it was a minority sport. Gradually it went mainstream, spreading across nearly all Toyota and Lexus models. So much so that the company took flak for not jumping from there on to the full-electric car bandwagon. Now that caution looks wise. The speed of changeover to EVs is softening, and the legal push to ban hybrids is paused five years to 2035. Shifting predictions for EVs are affecting Toyota-Lexus too. 5 For families wanting more space as well as battery power, Toyota will add a Touring estate version to the bZ4X electric crossover Credit: Supplied For some years, the plan was to build standalone electric cars, wholly different from the hybrids. But that's going to change. Andrea Carlucci, European marketing boss, told me the plan now is to build cars that you can buy as either full-electric or hybrid. Selling completely separate hybrid and EV models, he says, 'causes a complexity challenge', confusing buyers and choking dealerships. 'We should simplify the number of silhouettes.' So Lexus is launching its sharp-looking new luxury saloon, the ES, in both a hybrid and a 330-mile electric. In the UK the plan is we'll get the electric only, but no doubt that could alter if the politics of EVs change again. For families wanting more space as well as battery power, Toyota will add a Touring estate version to the bZ4X electric crossover Inside, it's luxurious but with a clean Japanese-garden feel. The door trim looks like back-illuminated bamboo. But despite the new plan for dual-powertrain cars, there are still a bunch of pure battery cars in the launch phase. The small one is the Urban Cruiser, on sale shortly. It'll be followed by the C-HR+, which looks, and is, different from the C-HR hybrid. All those two share is a general theme: both are compact coupe-crossovers. For families wanting more space as well as battery power, Toyota will add a Touring estate version to the bZ4X electric crossover. That's spring next year. The all-electric Lexus RZ gets an update next year, including steer-by-wire using an aircraft-style yoke instead of a steering wheel, plus fake 'gearbox' effects to make driving a single-speed EV feel more interesting. More like a petrol car, in other words.
