Harnett man charged with stealing Jeep
A Harnett County man faces a felony charge of obtaining property by false pretense and other crimes.
Richard Alan Crouch, 40, of the 200 block of Riverview Place, northwest of Lillington, was arrested earlier this month on a felony charge of drug possession and later charged with an incident stemming from Jan. 29.
In that latter case, Crouch allegedly stole a 1994 Jeep Wrangler valued at $500 from George Baker and received $200 for it from Southern Auto Salvage and Recyling, according to an arrest warrant. He was also charged with two misdemeanors, including larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen goods.
He is being held in the Harnett County Jail on bonds totaling $25,000, according to eCourts.
Crouch has a lengthy criminal record, including a charge stemming from 2000 for indecent liberties with a child under 13. In that case, Crouch was convicted of assault on a child and sentenced to 60 days in jail plus two years of supervised probation.
He has been arrested at various times over the years in Lee, Moore and Wake counties for such things as driving while license revoked, no driver's license, possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin, possession of meth, misdemeanor and felony larceny, shoplifting and uttering a forged instrument, according to eCourts.
He previously listed addresses in the 2100 block of Rice Road in Sanford and the 1400 block of Post Office Road in northern Lee County.

Schools Out Summer Food Drive with Second Harvest
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — School may be out, but hunger never takes a break. According to Feeding America, one out of five kids in Georgia are considered food insecure which means they can't always be sure where they'll get their next healthy meal. Second Harvest Food Bank of Coastal Georgia is working to step in and fill that gap for thousands of children in our area. It's a problem that can be even bigger during the summer months since they don't have access to meals at school. 'Summertime is not a vacation for every child,' Executive Director Mary Jane Crouch said. 'A lot of children and families depend on meals at school to help them get through budget wise and so when they get out of school, they don't have access to those meals.' All of us at WSAV News 3 are excited to kick off our third annual Schools Out Summer Food Drive to benefit Second Harvest. WSAV will be collecting healthy, easy-to-open and eat food items for kids such as apple sauce, fruit cups, pop top canned vegetables, soup and pastas. Our first event is coming up on Tuesday, June 3 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at Clearwave Fiber located at 135 Canal St. in Pooler. If you'd like to get involved, you can volunteer to help prep and provide meals or donate to the cause. For every dollar donated, Second Harvest can provide five meals, Crouch said. You can find a complete list of items you can donate along with all of our summer food drive dates and locations at There are 77 locations where children can get breakfast and lunch. Some are not readily available for everyone since some have pre-registered. You can check location near you by clicking or tapping here and inputting your zip code. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Bestselling Cars in Each State
Toyota Tacoma Hawaii We had a good time guessing what the bestselling car in Hawaii might be. With so many beautiful places to explore, we figured it might be the Jeep Wrangler. But when you consider that 9 to 10 million tourists visit Hawaii every year—that's more than six times the state's population—it might well be the Ford Mustang convertible, or at least the Mitsubishi Mirage (or, heck, even the Wrangler). Nope: Turns out Hawaiians are a practical lot, and the bestselling vehicle is the Toyota Tacoma, king of mid-size truck sales. Well, that makes sense; Tacomas are useful, practical, and all but unkillable. We're sure the Aloha State will welcome the new-for-2025 version of the Tacoma.
