It's going to be a sunny autumn weekend, meaning it's a great time to take a hike on a local trail to check out the fall foliage.
On Saturday, it's Tech Day at the Guelph Public Library 's main branch with lots of booth and hands-on opportunities to learn more about different community innovators.
Autumn Serenades is a concert by the Canadian Band Association. It will feature musicians and directors from all across the province for this Sunday afternoon event at Wilfrid Laurier University.
Chilling Candlelit Evenings are back at Schneider Haus in Kitchener. Hear some of the chilling historic events that have happened in the city and a local spiritual medium will be on hand. Tickets are required.
The Doon campus of Conestoga College will host Festival of Lights on Friday evening, an early Diwali celebration. Organizers say it's an evening of sparkling lights, laughter and a festive atmosphere.
The Kitchener Rangers have a full weekend of hockey. They host the Niagara IceDogs Friday night, hit the road to Guelph on Saturday for a 4:07 p.m. game, then are home to Guelph on Sunday at 6 p.m.
The Guelph Storm are home Friday and will host the Windsor Spitfires.

Frederick Art Walk
Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This annual walking art tour takes you through a Kitchener neighbourhood and gives you a chance to meet artists who work in a variety of mediums, from painting to fabric, pottery to stained glass.
The boundaries of the Frederick Art Walk are Victoria Street to the north, East Avenue/Indiana Street to the east, Krug Street to the south, and Lancaster Street to the west.
Kissing Bridge Art Tour
Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Waterloo Rod and Gun Club, 1075 Bo-De Lane, St. Jacobs
This annual art tour will be held in one location this year. There will be more than 20 local artists at the show and artwork will span photography, painting, sculpture, paper, jewellery and more.

It's the last weekend of the annual Bavarian festival. The festhalls will be full of people dancing to Roll Out The Barrel one more time.

There were big ones, little ones and some in between at this year's DOGtoberfest in Kitchener, Ont., where hundreds of dogs hung around to munch on free treat samples as performers filled the air with Oktoberfest music. DOGtoberfest runs all afternoon on Saturday and Sunday at Kitchener's Gaukel Block. The event is an extension of the annual KW Oktoberfest.

There's an evening of music with Spender 'Slow Jam' Dunn on Friday and a Comedy Sketch-tacular and Comedy Charcuterie on Saturday.
Saturday morning the matinee is a family friendly show with Mr. J and the Groovy Gang.

There are a few events highlighting local artisans, makers and businesses with fall or Halloween themes.
Hunter's Moon Market will be held Saturday morning at the Willow River Centre in downtown Kitchener. This is one of the centre's bi-monthly arts markets.
Weekend Halloween Market will be held at Federation Hall at the University of Waterloo on Saturday and Sunday. There will be horror vendors, oddities, and scary crafts. As well, mediums will be on hand to do readings and horror authors will talk about their stories.
A Halloweek Market will be held at St. George's Anglican Church in Guelph on Saturday that will be "witchy vibed." There's also a pumpkin carving competition (pre-registration is required) and Halloween-themed workshops.
Craft Trail: St. Jacobs Market Crawl on Saturday will feature three locations in St. Jacobs — EcoCafe, Bliss Artisan Boutique, and Block 3 Brewing — where local artisans will have booths with their items on display.

'Actually, it's been so long since I've been in front of cameras, and I didn't even put on makeup, so I'm a bit embarrassed,' he said. 'I don't know what to say.' Supporters travelled from around the world to the public sports ground where the meet-and-greet took place. It was moved from the military base's gate for safety reasons. Colour-wrapped buses bearing BTS members' faces lined the streets while red and yellow balloons floated above and a decorated food truck provided free coffee and water, adding to the festive atmosphere. Many supporters wore masks, conscious of potential backlash after the band's label discouraged attendance citing safety concerns. Despite the challenges, fans like Anaesi from Portugal said the 20-hour journey to Yeoncheon, a town near the tense border with North Korea, was worth it. 'Portugal is a small country, but inside of Portugal, BTS is a king,' she said. Anaesi, who discovered BTS on YouTube, said the group 'saved' her from depression. 'So for me BTS is my angel,' she said. She displayed a colorful upper arm tattoo featuring a golden shield emblazoned with 'ARMY' and an eagle above it, complemented by Korean text listing BTS members' names and those of her friends. Canada Post to unveil stamp honouring Michif Language Keeper Sophie McDougall in 2025 issue of the Indigenous Leaders stamp series Français
PRINCE ALBERT, SK , June 10, 2025 /CNW/ - Canada Post will issue a new set of stamps honouring three Indigenous leaders on June 20, a day ahead of National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21). Julia Haogak Ogina, Sophie McDougall and Bruce Starlight will each be featured on a stamp for their dedication to preserving the culture and languages of their Inuit, Métis and First Nations communities. Sophie McDougall (1928-2023) was a passionate Michif Language Keeper who shared extensive knowledge of her Métis culture and language with generations of students and community members over her long life. For over 20 years, she was an Elder with the Prince Albert Métis Women's Association, where she spent many years as a devoted schoolteacher and translated books and other materials into Michif. The upcoming stamp set is the fourth in Canada Post's Indigenous Leaders multi-year stamp series. Launched in 2022, the series highlights the contributions of modern-day First Nations, Inuit and Métis leaders who have dedicated their lives to preserving their cultures and improving the quality of life of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. The stamps are each being unveiled and celebrated at separate local events. The unveiling and celebration of the stamps honouring Julia Haogak Ogina and Bruce Starlight will be on June 13 and June 19 respectively.
