Texas Offers No. 1 QB Recruit in 2027 Class originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is known as one of the best offensive minds in football. Many know Sarkisian as an excellent play caller, but he's also one of the top quarterback developers at the college level.

The Longhorns landed the nation's No. 1 overall recruit in quarterback Arch Manning from the 2023 recruiting class in large part due to Sarkisian's ability to develop. Quinn Ewers, Texas' starting quarterback for the last three seasons, also chose to attend Texas for the same reason.
Since the hiring of Sarkisian, Texas has now become a popular destination for the top quarterback recruits in the country. That doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon as Sarkisian has offered and/or hosted some of the top signal-callers in the 2026 and 2027 classes recently.
On Thursday, five-star quarterback Kavian Bryant announced via social media that he received an offer from Texas. Bryant is ranked the No. 1 quarterback in the nation for the 2027 recruiting class, according to On3.
Bryant threw for 2,718 yards, 34 touchdowns, and three interceptions as a sophomore for Westwood High School (Palestine, TX) last season. He also recorded 856 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground.

His father, Kadrian Bryant, was a former Division 1 basketball player at Mississippi Valley State. Bryant is a multi-sport athlete that also excels on the basketball court and is receiving significant offers for each sport.
The 6-foot-1 dual-threat quarterback has already racked up offers from Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Oregon, Florida State and Auburn among others.
Texas will hope to get Bryant on campus for several visits over the next year.

Raptors Send Brandon Ingram Message After Giannis Antetokounmpo News
Raptors Send Brandon Ingram Message After Giannis Antetokounmpo News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Toronto Raptors season concluded on a disappointing note, derailed early by a wave of injuries that ultimately stunted their playoff hopes. After a solid start, the momentum faded significantly, as newly acquired forward Brandon Ingram was ruled out for the remainder of the season. His absence, alongside other key injuries, proved too much for the rebuilding Raptors to overcome. Advertisement Since their season ended, the Raptors have been linked to Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Doug Smith of the Toronto Star reported mutual interest between the two sides. However, it was reported on Friday that Antetokounmpo is expected to return to Milwaukee for a 13th season (via ESPN). Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo (34)© Jeff Hanisch-Imagn Images With Antetokounmpo likely not coming to Toronto, the Raptors will need even more from Ingram. The former Los Angeles Lakers forward arrived from the New Orleans Pelicans in a February blockbuster—Toronto exchanged Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, a 2026 first-round pick, and a 2031 second-rounder to secure him. The 27-year-old had been the Pelicans' standout, averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in his 18 games this season. On Friday, the Raptors shared a social media post featuring Ingram that included a simple message. Advertisement "No caption needed, y'all get the vibe," the team wrote. This cryptic yet heartfelt message was perhaps intended to reassure fans that Ingram's return is anticipated. He signed a three-year, $120 million extension immediately upon his arrival, a proof of Toronto's commitment to integrating him into their core alongside Scottie Barnes and RJ Barrett. Despite not playing a single game for the Raptors this season, Ingram remains very much in the team's plans. Next season, Toronto hopes his presence will elevate the team into playoff contention. Dwight Howard Urges Cooper Flagg to Return to Duke Amid $28 Million News
Dwight Howard Urges Cooper Flagg to Return to Duke Amid $28 Million News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In the name, image and likeness (NIL) age, it pays to play college basketball. In Cooper Flagg's case, it pays around $28 million. Advertisement According to veteran sports reporter Howard Bryant, Flagg's solitary season with the Duke Blue Devils was very lucrative thanks to NIL deals with major brands like Fanatics and New Balance. Flagg's NIL agreement with New Balance netted him $13 million, the Fanatics sponsorship $15 million; both deals are set to follow Flagg to the NBA later this year. On June 25, Flagg is expected to go No. 1 overall to the Dallas Mavericks to tip off the 2025 NBA draft. But Dwight Howard, himself a former top overall pick, said Flagg should reverse course while he still can. Speaking on the "Nightcap" podcast with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson, Howard made the stunning claim that Flagg should return to Duke. His reasoning? With NBA contracts getting larger and the salary cap continuing to rise, Flagg could be a billionaire by the time he is 23. Advertisement "If he stays two more years and wins at least one championship at Duke, he's gonna get at least $100 million off college," Howard explained. "Then, when he goes to the league, the salary cap is gonna be higher for rookies. He's gonna make $500 million. ... He's gonna be a billionaire before he finishes his rookie contract." Howard, soon to be enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, signed a three-year, $19.5 million contract when the Orlando Magic took him at the top of the 2004 NBA draft. More than 20 years later, Flagg is expected to sign a four-year, $62.7 million contract with the Mavericks if Dallas selects him in a few weeks. Faced with the prospect of making millions right away or waiting another 24 months to do so, Flagg certainly has been advised to take the money the Mavericks are going to offer. That said, with the NBA's collective bargaining agreement set to be renegotiated in the coming years, Howard has presented an intriguing argument for future rookies to ponder.
