COLLEGE STATION — With postseason chances possibly on the line for Texas A&M baseball this weekend, it stumbled at every turn.
As it welcomed in a previously winless Missouri Tigers team, the Aggies (27-20, 10-16 SEC) inexplicably dropped both games to start the series.

The Tigers (15-35, 2-24) captured their first conference win and series victory of the year.
Now, A&M has one game to try to salvage any positivity from the weekend.

The Aggies' postseason aspirations have taken a massive hit with just four games left.
A&M enters Sunday three games short of the 13-win magic number, while according to Kendall Rogers of D1 Baseball, the Aggies' RPI has dropped to 50, 20 shy of the 30th spot threshold historically needed.
A win on Sunday keeps the Aggies on pace to hit 13 wins.

However, a third-straight loss almost assuredly requires them to sweep the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens, Ga., next weekend to even be in the conversation of an at-large bid, barring a run to an SEC Tournament title.

Texas A&M will host the No. 1-ranked 2026 prospect in Iowa this week

Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class is expected to continue growing this summer, heading into the 2025 season. As we've already witnessed under head coach Mike Elko, recruiting the entire country has not been an issue, with the team dominating the East and West Coasts, similar to former head coach Jimbo Fisher. This month, Texas A&M will host a wide range of elite 2026 prospects, which now includes four-star tight end Evan Jacobson out of Waukee, Iowa. Standing at 6'7" and 200 pounds, Jacobson is already an elite red zone target who thrives in the seam, possessing enough speed and twitch to outmaneuver smaller defenders. Playing in a run-heavy offense, which is very common in Iowa, Jacobson has been Waukee's most reliable receiving target throughout his starting career, thriving in the short game. At the same time, his size advantage has made him a sneaky deep threat. Like many tight end prospects, Jacobson will improve as a route runner once he enters a collegiate program. In Texas A&M OC Collin Klein's tight end-centric scheme, he could turn into one of the better SEC tight ends going into his second or third season. According to the man himself, Jacobson will head to College Station on Thursday, June 5, and spend the weekend with the Aggies for his first official visit. According to 247Sports, Evan Jacobson is currently positioned as the 175th-ranked prospect in the class, the 11th-ranked tight end, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in Iowa. Royals top prospect Jac Caglianone batting sixth as the DH vs. Cardinals in his major league debut

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Jac Caglianone was facing Oklahoma State as a member of the Florida Gators in the NCAA baseball tournament at this time a year ago. On Tuesday night, the sixth overall pick of the 2024 amateur draft was batting sixth in the Kansas City Royals' lineup as the designated hitter and facing the St. Louis Cardinals in his major league debut. 'I've been dreaming this day ever since I could really kind of comprehend the idea of being a professional baseball player,' Caglianone said. 'I'm super excited.' The 22-year-old Caglianone hit .319 with nine home runs and 43 RBIs in 38 games with Triple-A Omaha after playing the first 12 games of the season with Double-A Northwest Arkansas — living up to the lofty expectations the Royals had when they drafted him. 'We were really excited when he got to us,' Royals general manager J.J. Picollo recalled. 'What we didn't know is, how long does it take? You never know how long it's going to take, and if it took one year or two years, as long as he becomes a good major league player, we'd be fine with it. 'So, there was no real need, coming into this year, to see him up in '25, but he went out and did what you want players to do.' Kansas City is looking for an offensive boost after entering play with a major league-worst 34 home runs and having scored 194 runs, tied with Pittsburgh for the second-fewest in the majors. Caglianone's new big league teammates, however, aren't looking for him to be a hero. 'Where I would caution him is like he's not a savior to this offense, nor should he think he think he is, nor should anybody think he is because that's super unfair,' Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino said. 'He needs to come into this lineup and be his best self because his best self is what helps us the most, not him trying to do too much or to try to save the offense.' Caglianone's debut comes a week after the Royals recalled his former teammate outfielder John Rave from Omaha, where he was hitting .301 with nine homers and 17 steals in 44 games. ___ AP MLB:
