Results released from St. Patrick's Day weekend Lemon Grove DUI checkpoint
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Out of nearly 1,000 San Diegans that went through a sobriety checkpoint over St. Patrick's Day weekend in Lemon Grove, two people were arrested for DUI, authorities report.
Deputies from the Lemon Grove Sheriff's Substation held a DUI/sobriety checkpoint from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday near Broadway and Kempf Street in the City of Lemon Grove.
DUI checkpoints being held this weekend in San Diego area
The sheriff's department reports 922 total vehicles went through the checkpoint, and 77 cars were sent to secondary evaluation.
Deputies arrested two people on DUI alcohol charges, and conducted three DUI evaluations.

Also, 20 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed. Two vehicles were also towed.
As the holiday weekend festivities have turned into St. Patrick's Day on Monday, law enforcement continue to urge people planning to go out to drive sober or get a ride home.

Just before 11 p.m. on Saturday, a juvenile male was found with a gunshot wound in the 1900 block of U Street NW. Around the same time, officers investigated additional shootings on M Street NE, W Street SE, and T Street NW. Violence also broke out at Dupont Circle Park during a WorldPride event on Saturday evening. Around 7 p.m., a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old boy were stabbed, police said. An hour later, as officers worked to disperse crowds, a man was shot in the foot near the entrance of the Dupont Circle Metro station. Driver, 24, killed after colliding with multiple parked cars in Mt. Hope
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A 24-year-old man is dead after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into multiple parked cars in San Diego's Mt. Hope neighborhood Sunday night, San Diego police said. The crash was reported just before 11 p.m. in the area of 400 42nd Street. According to police, the man left his residence and headed southbound in a 2008 Mazda CX5 after 'breaking glass items.' A short while later, the driver lost control and collided with a parked 1995 Jeep Wrangler on the east curb line of 42nd Street. Per SDPD, three additional parked vehicles were damaged by the Mazda. His identity has not been released at this time. Officers with SDPD's Traffic Division were dispatched to the scene and are investigating the collision. At this time, it is unknown what caused the man to lose control of the vehicle and whether driving under the influence was a factor in the crash. Border Patrol seizes 104 lbs. of cocaine found in hidden compartment
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — San Diego Border Patrol agents found and seized over 100 pounds of cocaine after an SUV went through an immigration checkpoint in Southern California on Wednesday. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a K-9 helped lead Border Patrol agents to find 40 bundles of cocaine in the roof of a vehicle that went through Border Patrol's I-15 North immigration checkpoint in Temecula. CBP reports a silver SUV was stopped by Newton-Azrak Station Border Patrol agents at 1:50 p.m. on June 4. After a brief interview, Border Patrol agents brought out a K-9, which alerted them to the presence of narcotics. A search of the vehicle resulted in agents finding 40 bundles, which totaled 104 pounds of cocaine, in the roof in an added motorized compartment. The street value is estimated to be around $708,000. The person driving the vehicle, only identified as a U.S. citizen, was detained by Homeland Security Investigations, which also seized the cocaine. Border Patrol seized the vehicle. The suspect is facing federal charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute. 'Drug smugglers are often resourceful, but our dedicated agents are always watching,' said San Diego Acting Chief Patrol Agent Jeffrey D. Stalnaker. 'Our agents are the best of the best, and we remain resolute in our mission to keep communities safe.' This fiscal year, San Diego Sector has seized 2,356 pounds of methamphetamine, 2,587 pounds of cocaine, 250 pounds of fentanyl, and 56 pounds of heroin.
