Three Children Fight for Life After Parents Killed in Devastating Saar Crash

Daily Tribune2 days ago

The devastating impact of a tragic car accident that occurred in the early hours of last Friday continues to weigh heavily on the Bahraini community. The crash claimed the lives of husband and wife Ahmed Ibrahim (40) and Fatima Abbas (36) at the scene, leaving their three young children critically injured and fighting for survival.
According to a relative of the family, the children were rushed from the site of the accident to the Bahrain Defence Force Hospital in critical condition. The relative described the situation as extremely difficult and emotionally overwhelming.
The couple's 12-year-old daughter has reportedly passed the danger stage after undergoing a complex surgery, during which metal rods were implanted to stabilize severe fractures in both legs. She remains under close medical observation.
However, the condition of her two younger brothers—Abdulaziz (7) and Youssef (9)—remains dire. Both boys are currently in a coma due to head trauma and internal bleeding.
"Abdulaziz's condition is the most concerning, as he suffers from a severe brain hemorrhage," the family member revealed. "Youssef briefly regained consciousness and complained of a burning sensation in his legs, but soon slipped back into a coma."
The tragedy has sent shockwaves throughout Bahrain, sparking a wave of prayers and solidarity for the young survivors. The incident has also reignited urgent discussions on the need to improve road safety measures, particularly on secondary roads where such fatal accidents often occur.
As the nation mourns, the family's loved ones remain hopeful and place their faith in God for the children's recovery.

MP pushes for jobless pay for freelancers

A proposal aiming to give self-employed Bahrainis a chance to draw jobless pay during bouts of ill-health has been tabled by MP Jalal Kadhem. His amendment to the 2006 Unemployment Insurance Decree would let freelancers and people running their own businesses voluntarily sign up for an insurance scheme currently reserved for employed workers. Those affected by illness or injury, unrelated to work, would become eligible for monthly payments equal to 60 per cent of their average earnings, capped at BD1,000, provided the medical condition lasts no fewer than 30 days. To claim the support, the person must be Bahraini, aged at least 18, registered in the voluntary insurance scheme, and dependent solely on their profession for income. The incapacity has to be medically certified by authorised committees. Serious hurdles Kadhem pointed out clearly in his explanatory note how people working for themselves face serious hurdles whenever sickness puts their livelihoods on pause. 'These individuals face major challenges in the event of a temporary health condition that prevents them from performing their work,' he wrote. 'This leads to a complete halt in monthly income, negatively affecting the morale, finances, and mental wellbeing of the entire family.' The proposal creates a new category of 'voluntarily insured person', covering freelancers and self-employed citizens who join the voluntary social insurance scheme.

Two Held Over Indecent Video Circulated Online

Two Asian men have been remanded in custody after a video showing them engaged in acts deemed indecent was circulated on social media, the Public Prosecution said yesterday. The Cybercrime Directorate, part of the General Directorate for Combating Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, detected the clip and referred the matter to prosecutors. The footage was described as breaching public morals and running against the customs of Bahraini society. Both men were arrested and questioned, during which they confessed to the charges. Their phones were seized, and the case has been referred to the criminal court for an urgent hearing. Prosecutors are seeking the maximum sentence allowed by law and permanent deportation. The head of the Cybercrime Prosecution urged social media users to observe legal boundaries when posting, recording, or sharing material. Three Siblings Severely Injured In Fatal Saar Crash

An outpouring of sympathy continues across Bahrain in the wake of a tragic traffic accident that claimed the lives of a young couple and left their three children with serious injuries. The horrific incident occurred days ago on Saar's internal road, when a speeding vehicle collided head-on with the family's car in a devastating crash. Medical sources informed Al Ayam that 12-year-old Aya Ahmed, one of the children involved, underwent a complex surgical procedure to reinforce her bones with metal rods extending from her pelvis to her thigh. Aya has regained consciousness and is now responsive to medical staff and those around her. Doctors have described her condition as 'stable,' with close monitoring continuing. Her 7-year-old brother, Abdulaziz Ahmed, remains in a highly critical condition. He is suffering from severe head trauma and multiple fractures and is currently under intensive observation in the ICU. Medical professionals have described his condition as 'in God's hands.' Their older brother, 10-year-old Yousif Ahmed, initially responded well to emergency surgery after sustaining internal bleeding in the kidneys and abdominal area. Although he briefly regained consciousness, doctors later discovered a skull fracture that required him to be sedated again and placed back under intensive care. The collision, which occurred on the road leading to Saar Mall, resulted in the immediate deaths of both parents at the scene. Since the news broke, the Bahraini community has been gripped by grief and rallied in solidarity with the surviving children. In a heartfelt gesture of support, Karranah Primary Girls School and Jaber bin Hayyan Primary Boys School-where Aya and her brothers are students-announced the cancellation of graduation celebrations. The decision was made to honor the children and express solidarity with the grieving family, highlighting the deep sense of unity and compassion that characterizes Bahraini society.
