YouTube has stopped working on 5 popular phones - so, is your device on the list?
It's the go-to video app for millions of people around the world.
But if you use YouTube, you might want to check that the app is still running on your smartphone.
The Google-owned app has quietly updated its iOS app to version 20.22.1, and now requires iOS 16 or later to install and run.
That means several older iPhone models are no longer compatible with the app.
The affected devices are those that cannot upgrade beyond iOS 15.
So that's the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and the first-generation iPhone SE.
Alternatively, if you have an iPod Touch 7, you won't be able to watch YouTube on that either.
The news has not gone down well across social media, with one user venting: 'My iphone 6s is slowly becoming obselete.'
It's the go-to video app for millions of people around the world. But if you use YouTube , you might want to check that the app is still running on your smartphone
YouTube quietly made the change in version 20.22.1, which was released on 2 June.
On the App Store, YouTube describes this version as having 'bug fixes, performance improvements, and more cat videos.'
However, in the fine print, it also now states that it requires iOS 16.0 or later to run on iPhone, as well as iPad 16.0 or later to run on iPad.
Unfortunately, that means the app has been discontinued for the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4.
Several disgruntled users have taken to X to discuss the news.
'WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PLANET I HAVE AN IPHONE 6S,' one user asked.
Another wrote: 'This is strange because the YouTube app is just streaming video from a server, and many devices with much less power can still do that fine.'
And one joked: 'What a long ride its been, iPhone 6S,' alongside the saluting emoji.
However, others were quick to point out a sneaky loophole - watching YouTube on Safari, rather than through the app.
'When stuck you could always just use YouTube on safari like god intended,' one user suggested.
Another added: 'I've never used the app. Always from browser.'
To make sure you can still use YouTube on your phone, it is essential that you update to at least iOS 16 or higher - even if you are using a newer, compatible device.
To check which operating system you are currently using, simply open the Settings app, select General, and tap on the 'About' tab.
Under the heading 'Version' you will be able to see the currently installed iteration of iOS.
If you do need to update your iPhone, from Settings navigate to the tab labelled 'General' and select 'Software Update'.
If a newer version of iOS is available, you can press 'Install Now' to begin the update.
To ensure you always get the latest software and security updates, you can also consider activating automatic updates by selecting 'Automatic Updates' on the 'Software Update' page.

Move over Britney Spears! Addison Rae channels Britney as she performs in her underwear in NYC
Addison Rae performed in her underwear at the Spotify release party at The Box in New York City on Thursday. The singer wore a nude-toned bra and underwear as she belted out her new tunes as backup dancers surrounded her on stage. Addison has served up a dreamy pop album flaunting her 'sensual and sexual' personality. The 24-year-old social media star released her long-awaited self-titled debut studio album featuring hit singles Diet Pepsi and Aquamarine. Speaking to Variety about the new tracks, she said: 'We definitely didn't reference anything making this album. It was always me trying to provoke a feeling from a song or from music. 'I'm a very sensual and sexual person. I'm very intimate with myself and my body, and everything kind of reflects that. Everything feels very personal.' Addison also shared that having her debut album produced entirely by a team of women was 'really special'. She added that working with Luka Kloser and Elvira on the record was 'beautiful and magical'. Addison said: 'I have something really special with these girls. It feels really beautiful and magical that it is just all females. 'I never set out for it to be that way, I think because it's not very common and you almost don't get that opportunity very much to work with just females in a room.' While she has been labelled the latest 'It girl' in pop, Addison admitted that she is wary of the praise. She added: 'It is obviously very complimentary. What does that even mean, really, to be the pop girl? Let's see if the songs get more popular, then they can call me a pop girl. This is my shot. I've got to go big.' Meanwhile, Addison - who dropped her debut single Obsessed in 2023 - has spoken about how TikTok was the perfect launchpad for her career. She told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1: 'I think in the beginning, especially, and starting out, I always knew that I wanted to make music. I always knew I wanted to act. I think I just knew I wanted to perform. 'That was just something that was really obvious to me since I was a little girl. Addison continued: 'When TikTok happened, I was almost like, well, this seems like a really nice way to get myself to Los Angeles first, because I think in Louisiana there wasn't as many opportunities or like possibility, really, to pursue that profession necessarily, unless you just got really, really lucky.' Addison gained popularity with her dance videos on TikTok in 2019. And by March 2020, rapper The Kid Laroi caused a buzz when he released a song titled Addison Rae. She then made her film debut in 2021's He's All That and released Obsessed two years later.
