Ed Sheeran joins Olivia Rodrigo for surprise duet at BST Hyde Park
Rodrigo, 22, opened the 2025 British Summer Time Hyde Park (BST Hyde Park) series on Friday ahead of her headlining set at Glastonbury on Sunday evening.
She took a brief pause from performing some of her biggest hits to introduce Sheeran to the stage for a duet version of the English singer's 2011 song The A Team.

He wrote: 'Both (Rodrigo's) albums (Guts and Sour) are no skips for me, I'm a proper fan. We first met at the rock and roll hall of fame back in 2022, sat next to each other with her mum and my dad and went on to hang and keep in touch from there.
'Was gonna go watch the show anyway but she hit me and asked to sing The A Team with her, which was such a buzz.
'That song turns 15 this year, and I remember playing it to rooms with no one in it in 2010, so to still be playing it to new fans with one of the brightest stars of the next generation is an honour and a privilege. Rock Glasto headline Sunday @oliviarodrigo , UK loves you x.'
Other performers scheduled for this year's BST Hyde Park series include Sabrina Carpenter, Neil Young and Stevie Wonder.

Sabrina Carpenter shows her support for former love rival Olivia Rodrigo at her BST Hyde Park gig - four years after their alleged feud over mutual ex Josh Bassett
Sabrina Carpenter showed her support for former love rival Olivia Rodrigo as she attended her BST Hyde Park gig in London on Friday. The Espresso hitmaker, 26, could be seen smiling and dancing along as Olivia, 22, took to the stage to headline the festival in the capital. The pair share a mutual ex-boyfriend in the form of Joshua Bassett, 24, with the singers embroiled in awkward love triangle rumours back in 2020/2021 amid their romances with the actor. However, Sabrina appeared to have put their alleged feud firmly behind her as she happily sipped on a glass of wine while enjoying the show. Slipping into a semi-sheer baby doll dress and black glasses, the US songstress - who is headlining the same festival next week - looked in great spirits as she watched from a balcony. Meanwhile, Olivia was on fine form as she strutted her stuff on stage, with one look seeing her stun in a tiny silver fringed crop top and matching mini skirt. She was later joined on the stage by surprise guest Ed Sheeran, 34, for a duet of his mega 2011 hit The A Team. Together the pair strummed their guitars while belting out the iconic lyrics while the 65,000 strong audience cheered in delight. Joshua has long been rumored to be the subject of Olivia's January 2021 breakup ballad Driver's License, which catapulted her to superstardom. The pair reportedly dated while shooting the first two seasons of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, which premiered on Disney+ in 2019. Due to the assumptions made about the song, Joshua became a target online to Rodrigo's protective fanbase. Fans also suspected that Carpenter was the 'other woman' referenced in the song's lyrics as Olivia notably sings about 'that blonde girl' who 'made [her] doubt' the relationship. She also notes in the lyrics that the unnamed blonde is 'much older than me.' Olivia is 22 and Sabrina is 26. Sabrina, who also got her start on Disney Channel, was reportedly linked to Joshua in mid-2020 but they were broken up by 2021. However, Sabrina appeared to have put their alleged feud firmly behind her as she happily sipped on a glass of wine while enjoying the show Sabrina couldn't keep the smile off her face amid Olivia's gig Olivia and her ex Joshua have never publicly confirmed or denied anything relating to their alleged romance and breakup. The Deja Vu singer is now happily dating 22-year-old actor Louis Partridge, while Sabrina was in a high-profile romance with Barry Keoghan throughout 2024. It was a busy day for Sabrina as just hours earlier, she looked uncharacteristically conservative in a grey pleated skirt suit at the star-studded Dior Homme Menswear during Paris Fashion Week. The singer was the epitome of chic as she rocked an elegant grey blazer that cinched her in at the waist, teamed with a knee-length pleated skirt. Her look was a far cry from the risqué outfits she usually slips into when performing on stage. Sabrina boosted her height in a pair of nude peep-toe heels, while her blonde locks were kept off her face with a simple black hair slide. The Please Please Please hitmaker showed off her demure look as she greeted fans while arriving at the show to check out the Spring-Summer 2026 collection. Sabrina was in great company at the fashion show as a number of A-listers were in attendance including Rihanna, Donatella Versace, Daniel Craig and Robert Pattinson.

I'm a 48-year-old music snob and I loved Olivia Rodrigo
I have to admit, when I told friends I was taking my 14-year-old daughter, Florence, to see Olivia Rodrigo, I did so with an eye-roll and a bit of a 'bloody kids, eh?' smirk. At 48, I've got quite a few gigs and festivals under my belt. I was at Knebworth in '96 and could be found in the mosh pit at countless Britpop shindigs back in the day. While my record collection spans from the classic '60s swagger of the Stones to the big-riff grandeur of '70s Led Zep, taking in the stadium-filling, guitar-squealing anthems of Pink Floyd, my Spotify algorithm tells a different story. Being subjected to the 'racket' of a teenage playlist in the car is the scourge of many a parent, but I have to say, secretly — thanks to my kids —I've been introduced to a new breed of alt-pop, punk-pop… call it what you will. And I'm pleasantly surprised to report that pop music is very much alive and well — and I am a fan! It's nearing showtime, and as we gently jostle for position amid the fug of Sol de Janeiro and mounting anticipation — this is, after all, essentially Rodrigo's Glastonbury dress rehearsal (she headlines the Pyramid Stage on Sunday) — I'm suddenly self-conscious that at any moment someone might holler at me: 'Oi, Grandad, ELO's next month!' As the former Disney actor bounds on stage, the Hyde Park noise levels go up several notches, and Bad Idea Right? is greeted with a delirious tsunami of whoops and screams from teens and tweens (and dads) living their best lives. One banner I can just make out reads: Olivia, I'm obsessed with you. The hits keep coming. Bad Idea Right? is followed by the Pixies-tinged Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl, and if Vampire isn't the perfect example of a flawless, three-and-a-half-minute pop song, I don't know what is. I look across at my sequin-clad daughter, lost in the moment and singing along. I even turn a blind eye to her joining in with the (perhaps overly) sweary lyrics (shut up, Gramps). Screaming pubescent girls in purple cowboy hats watch the entire gig through their phone screens, and then the screams go up a few more decibels when Rodrigo thrills the already overexcited crowd even more by nonchalantly bringing out 'her favourite Brit,' Ed Sheeran, to duet on his classic, The A Team. As one perfectly crafted, delicious slice of pop perfection follows the next, it occurs to me that until recently — like many fellow middle-aged music-snob dads — I would have dismissed the warblings of Rodrigo, Carpenter, Roan, Styles et al. as disposable, autotuned bilge. Far from it. The output from these pop princes and princesses really stands up. These are songs with legs: compositionally sophisticated, rich in infectious melody, and emotionally devastating. ABBA, Pulp and The Cure for the Gen Z, TikTok-cool kids. Rodrigo's effortless between-song patter is charming and endearing. She tells the crowd that the capital is 'her favourite city' and yells: 'I f*cking love you, London!' Her band — made up entirely of women and non-binary musicians — isn't just making up the numbers behind the 'talent': they're excellent and rightly enjoying every minute of it. A quick low-key costume change into shorts and a T-shirt, and she's back for a supercharged, rocky encore of Brutal, the Green Day-esque All-American Bitch, Good 4 U, and — for reasons that weren't totally clear — she scales some scaffolding and belts out Get Him Back through a megaphone. Throw in the obligatory fireworks, streamers and pyrotechnics to close the show, and all the boxes have been ticked. More Trending As we turn to leave, I have to suppress my boring dad-rock instincts and resist vocalising them — like: 'The opening chords of Brutal remind me of Elvis Costello's Pump It Up,' or wondering wistfully what a Knopfler guitar solo would sound like on Happier. 'Do you want to get a T-shirt?' I ask Florence as we edge our way, exhausted but slightly euphoric, towards the exits. 'No, I think I'm all right, actually.' 'Oh, OK,' I reply. 'Er… do you mind if I get one?' Got a story?
