'The noise from the North Bank has been brilliant in the last few games,' said Maher.
'It's something I hadn't experienced as a player so it's been new to me and it's been brilliant.
'I obviously can't go and join the fans for a league game but I will go in the North Bank for a few minutes of the first half if it gets busy for the testimonial.
'I'll probably need a breather anyway and there's no better place to have one.'
It has now also been confirmed that the Southend United side on the night will be managed by Steve Tilson and Paul Brush.
The duo led Blues to back to back promotions and will be reunited at Roots Hall on Friday.

Liverpool forward has FINALLY decided which club he will join
Liverpool are planning to overhaul their forward options during the upcoming transfer window. Sporting director Richard Hughes has already strengthened the right flank with the acquisition of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen but the club won't stop there. The blockbuster £100m+ transfer for Florian Wirtz is nearing its conclusion - a move which will give the Reds an attacking totem to build around for years to come. Advertisement Hughes and head coach Arne Slot are also seeking to add a new centre-forward, with Alexander Isak, Joao Pedro and Hugo Ekitike among the players linked. In order to facilitate these incomings, the Merseyside outfit require departures. Darwin Nunez, Ben Doak and Luis Diaz are among the forward options considered at risk this summer. And one more title winner looks like he is living his last days as a Liverpool player - despite joining the club less than 12 months ago. Federico Chiesa tipped to leave Liverpool Federico Chiesa, 27, moved to Anfield from Juventus back in September in what was seen as an opportunistic deal. The fee for the Italian international could reach £12.5m overall but even at that price the Reds haven't got value out of Chiesa. Advertisement He played only SIX times last season in the Premier League - for a total of 104 minutes - and barely contributed on the starts he was permitted in other competitions. The writing was on the wall for the Euro 2020 winner back in January, when several Serie A clubs came forward for the 'homesick' forward. But Chiesa opted to remain for the second half of the season, earning a Premier League winner's medal, and now it looks like his departure is imminent. Real Betis and AC Milan are reckoned to be keen on his signature but now a clear frontrunner appears to have emerged. © IMAGO - Arne Slot Federico Chiesa Liverpool 2024-25 Chiesa's priority is Napoli Italian title winners Napoli are known to be keen on upgrading their forward line this summer having lost Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain back in January. Advertisement Napoli coach Antonio Conte would like to add Chiesa to the ranks, according to reports in Italy, and now it's been claimed that the Diego Maradona Stadium is the player's preference. "Chiesa would return to Italy,' states Sportitalia journalist Alfredo Padulla. 'If it were up to him, he would go to Napoli, because Conte respects him a lot, because the conditions could be right. Milan also like Chiesa, but his priority is Napoli.' Previous attempts from Italy to bring Chiesa home came to nothing and that has been attributed to the player's salary demands. With a pay packet reaching a reported £120k per week, the former Fiorentina winger is out of reach for most of the league.

Transfer window reopens as Town prepare to do summer business
The summer transfer window has reopened this morning, with Ipswich Town set to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Championship season. There was a brief opportunity for clubs to buy and sell players ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, which saw Liam Delap complete his £30m move to Chelsea, but the transfer window was shut on Tuesday, June 10th until today, with deadline day on Monday, September 1st. Advertisement As a result of Delap's departure, the Blues are expected to sign a new striker, with Marc Guiu (Chelsea) and Divin Mubama (Manchester City) among those linked in the last few weeks. Loanees Jens Cajuste and Kalvin Phillips returned to their parent clubs, and Massimo Luongo departed at the end of his contract, so Town should also be aiming to revamp their midfield. There are still question marks over the futures of Cameron Burgess and Axel Tuanzebe, who are out of contract and free to leave Suffolk if they do not agree new deals. If they move on, Ipswich would surely need to target replacements. Blues boss Kieran McKenna is expecting some change in his squad following relegation (Image: Ross Halls) Advertisement Speaking about the club's summer transfer plans, manager Kieran McKenna explained: 'It's important to say that some element of change and turnover is healthy in any business, certainly in football clubs. "Looking at the squad coming back for pre-season there's good numbers and there's good qualities there. Of course, situations can change a little bit over the summer, but I think we're going to be in a really strong position." Chairman Mark Ashton said: "I wouldn't expect 12 summer signings again. There's always a natural churn, but I don't see that being huge. We haven't got to sell a multitude of players, but one or two players will be traded out to give ourselves that headroom and the ability to move forward.'
