Wales boss Craig Bellamy insists he has no issue with Manchester United starlet Gabriel Biancheri accepting a call from Canada this summer.
The 18-year-old has come through the age groups with Wales, but is eligible to play for Canada through his mother.
He was recently included in Bellamy's training camp earlier this month, and there had been some suggestion he could be in line for his first cap in a bid to tie him down to the nation of his birth.
But Bellamy insists he has no issue with young players assessing the set-ups at other national teams before making a decision over who to represent.
Biancheri is set to link up with the rest of the Canada squad for a training camp ahead of the friendlies with Ukraine and Ivory Coast early next month, although it seems he won't be available to play in either game.
"I like people having options, it's healthy," Bellamy said. "He's not ready for our squad yet. It's something he'd like to go and have a look at, but I like to think we have done our work as well. He has been with us through the younger age groups, he knows what we are about and who we are.
"I don't think it ever hurts someone to have options and to go and explore them. I'm never against that. At the end the decision will be his. He knows where we are and where he is. He's not ready for first team football with us at this moment.
"It's his decision. I've known him since he was very young and I know his family really well. Whatever he does will be the right thing for him, it's not a problem."
Biancheri is highly-rated young prospect at United, having scored 21 goals in 35 appearances for the Red Devils at youth level. He has been similarly impressive for Wales under-19s, netting eight goals in 10 outings.
Canada manager Jesse Marsch is clearly a big admirer of his abilities, and there's clearly some hope that the forward, who also qualifies for Italy, can be persuaded to pledge allegiance to Canada.
"He's a dynamic player," Marsch said recently. "He's very good around the goal. You can see he's an intelligent player.
'He's a version of Jonathan David. He's not exactly the same player but he's a striker that can play up on the backline but also is good at coming underneath and connecting plays and being part of the buildup phase.'
'I've had good conversations with Gabe and his family. He has several options to think about in what country he wants to represent.
'I always feel like, for a lot of the dual nationals that I'm talking to, the best way for them to really feel how great it is to be around this team is to be around the team, because the guys are great, the environment is really strong and open.
"And I know that once they come in and work with the guys and see the mentality of the overall group, they're always going to enjoy it.
'I talked to him about how he thinks he would fit into us and how I think he would benefit from the experience of being with us. I spoke with his father and his mother at length, and we talked about the overall opportunity of what it would mean to play for the Canadian national team.
"I think it's really important that the family feels the connection to Canada. I've always wanted to make sure that what it means to be Canadian and what it means to represent the Canadian national team is in their heart, that it's something that is true to who they are.
'So I think this will be good for Gabe, to see what the experience is like, and then to see how he fits in.'

'Even him and his father were like, 'where do you see Gabe overall in your group?' And I said, look, the striker position is competitive with us, but he's still young, and I think he could have the opportunity to establish himself as a flexible player in the way we play, a little bit like how Jonathan David plays.'

Man Utd sent Bryan Mbeumo transfer warning sent as latest striker bid fails
Manchester United's summer transfer plans suffered a setback after Liam Delap snubbed them in favour of Chelsea, with the Red Devils now scrambling for an alternative striker Manchester United's transfer window is already unravelling with top striker target Liam Delap having snubbed the Red Devils in favour of Chelsea. In a piece of more welcome news Matheus Cunha is on his way to Old Trafford for £62.5million. United's recruitment chiefs will now turn their focus to a new striker. Their initial plan had been to sign Ipswich's Delap for around £30m, but that pursuit is in tatters, with the Englishman instead heading to Chelsea. That has forced United to look into alternative targets, such as Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo. The Bees are keen to get their money's worth out of the 25-year-old, who still has another year on his contract, with a club option for an extra 12 months. But a big fee is not something United are likely going to be able to raise, without major sales. One player who is looking to leave is Antony, with the winger closing in on a move to Real Betis. The Brazilian spent the second half of the season on loan at the La Liga side and hopes to make it permanent. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Manchester United transfer news. Mbeumo warning sent Manchester United will have to pay out a mega fee for Bryan Mbeumo if they want to sign the Brentford star. Bees boss Thomas Frank has insisted that his club will not be afraid to reject bids they deem to be too low. 'It is clear that if he is to be sold, it must be for a nice, nice amount. It is a lot. Mucho. Really a lot,' Frank told tipsbladet. 'Then it is clear that it is impossible to replace him one for one. It cannot be done. "There is a reason why he costs x number of million pounds, and we do not have x number of million pounds to buy for. I would say that I would be surprised if a lot of big clubs don't look at him. He is a good player.' Antony talks scheduled Manchester United and Real Betis chiefs will meet next week to discuss the transfer of Antony. The Brazilian flop spent the second half of the season on loan at Betis and hopes to make that move permanent. According to Marca, one of the first 'pending issues' of the summer for Betis is the signing of Antony. There is said to be 'enourmous satisfaction' with his performances since his arrival in January, with 'complete and absolute consenus' to bring him back permanently. Betis have now scheduled a meeting with United chiefs for next week to assess the various scenarios. Nothing has been ruled out yet, including another loan deal, with Antony set to be forced to take a pay cut if he wants to return to Betis. Striker bid fails Manchester United's bid to sign Jonathan David looks to be over with the Canadian set to snub a move to the Premier League. David has starred for Lille but will leave the Ligue 1 side on a free transfer this summer. United had been linked with a move for the 25-year-old, who helped to fire Lille to the French title in 2021. But according to iNews, David has instead set his sights on moving to Serie A. Italian champions Napoli and rivals Juventus are expected to battle it out for the Canadian. Napoli are the frontrunners to sign him having made David's representatives a 'concrete offer', though Juve are hoping to steal in under their noses.

Chelsea weighing up approach for Everton star but David Moyes remains determined to keep England international this summer
Chelsea are weighing up an approach for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite but Toffees David Moyes is reluctant to sell him. With James Tarkowski recovering from hamstring surgery, Moyes would be thin on options at the back if Branthwaite were to depart. Elsewhere, Everton are finalising terms with Idrissa Gana Gueye over a new contract while they are in talks with Flamengo over a move for Carlos Alcaraz. Chelsea's interest in Branthwaite comes after it was previously reported that Manchester United were willing to fork out more than £50million to land him this summer. Everton had already rejected two bids from United last summer, including a second offer of £45million plus £5m in add-ons, as they wanted £70million. He also was only willing to move to a club that can offer him Champions League football as he felt ready to himself at the highest level - which puts Chelsea ahead of United in the running for the centre-back this time around. In March, The Sun claimed that United bosses were still eager to sign Branthwaite, 22, despite Everton refusing to play ball last summer. Branthwaite made his England debut in June last year but was excluded from Tuchel's first squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia. Earlier this year, Mail Sport's Manchester United Confidential reported that United would turn away from a big-money defensive signing and opt for a cheaper option with potential. However, that was before Lisandro Martinez suffered a season-ending ACL injury, casting more doubt over his long-temr fitness. Martinez had already missed large chunks of his first two seasons at Old Trafford due to injury. In January, United extended Harry Maguire's £190,000-per-week contract until 2026 after his upturn in form. However, with Maguire having turned 32 this month, United have to have one eye on the next generation of defensive talent. They did hold talks over the feasability of a bid for Branthwaite in January but ended up tightening their purse strings. Instead, they spent £29.4m on wing-back Patrick Dorgu and a rather more modest £1m on Ayden Heaven from Arsenal.

Emi Martinez ‘up for challenge of joining Man Utd' to replace Onana but ‘big clubs queuing up' to sign Aston Villa star
EMI MARTINEZ is the kind of huge character Manchester United need to restore their battered reputation as a global superpower. And the good news for United boss Ruben Amorim is the world's No 1 keeper would be up for the challenge — if Aston Villa decide to cash in this summer. 4 4 That is the word from Neil Cutler, Martinez's old coach at Villa, who remains close pals with his former star pupil. Cutler, 48, said: 'This summer is pivotal for Emi in terms of his career. 'He's been voted the best goalie in the world twice and there seems to be an opportunity for him this summer, with all of his options open. "Big clubs are queuing up to speak to him and he either stays at a massive club like Villa or he goes to a truly world-class club. 'I don't think it's about money with Emi so I don't think he is ready to move to Saudi yet. 'If he does move it would be to a much bigger club — one of the really big-hitters like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico... or even Manchester United.' Martinez, 32, fuelled speculation when he broke down in tears and took a bow in front of the Holte End after Villa's final home game of the season. Some feared it was a farewell and since then he was linked with a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK United, Arsenal, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are also rumoured to be keen. Martinez's contract runs until 2029 but a bid of £40million or more would ease Villa's PSR concerns. Emi Martinez in tears as he waves goodbye to fans after Aston Villa's final home game The Villans have been linked with moves for Lille stopper Lucas Chevalier, Espanyol's Joan Garcia and Nice's Marcin Bulka. Cutler believes this could be one of the rare moments in football when a move could suit everyone. Amorim certainly needs a new keeper after Andre Onana looked weak at Tottenham's Europa League final winner again and Martinez could be the inspirational figure he is searching for. "United can't offer him Champions League football but the sheer size of the club and the size of the challenge might appeal to Emi," said Cutler, now in charge of Wolves' goalkeepers. "Emi has the confidence required to play for a massive club like United and would feel he could affect the club in a really positive way. "He would look at United and say: 'Right, I can make this place better. I can help this club get back to where it was.' 'HE THRIVES ON THE BIGGEST OCCASIONS' "He's all about the challenge, he's all about the drive and the desire so I think United would suit him. "He thrives on the biggest occasions and could play for any team in the world as he's shown by winning the World Cup and Copa America with Argentina. "He would be a comfortable fit at United and would hit the ground running. "It's all down to what Villa want but, at 32, they will know this is when they can get the maximum return on him. If they hold off until next year they'd get less. "Unai needs a possession-based goalie and the keepers he's been linked with are top class and younger. "It could be one of those times when it suits all parties. "I'm a big Villa fan so I'd love to see him stay - and I wouldn't be surprised to see Emi lifting the Europa League trophy for Villa in 12 months time. "But I also want to see him play at the highest level possible and, if one of the really big hitters comes knocking, then he could have a huge decision to make." 4 4
